Fondue Please

After some Borders book reading

IMG_3391.jpg

and a stop at Wendy's.  I always get the apple pecan salad.

IMG_3397.JPG

We made some Fondue for the MIL birthday dinner.

IMG_3403.JPG

There was broccoli, ravioli, shrimp, chicken, steak, potatoes and bread.

IMG_3406.JPG

Of course we had to have dessert fondue too.

IMG_3413.jpg

Donuts, apples, pineapple, brownies, cookies, marshmallows and pound cake.  We always tend to overdue it in this house.

I am actually having 2 rest days this week.  I am kind of proud of myself for not going crazy by taking two days off.  My legs were feeling it after a 56 mile week, not quite used to that yet.  Excited to get my spin on tomorrow morning though!!!

Have you ever made fondue at home?

-It is one of my favorite things to make and eat.  I have never had it at a restaurant (hint hint Billy.....Melting Pot would make a great birthday dinner).

What are your favorite fondue dippers and dippings?

-CHEESE, CHOCOLATE, bread, broccoli, marshmallows....actually everything we had tonight.

We are driving back to Utah now.  Please tell me a joke or a funny story to make me not so grumpy about the whole going back to be a real person thing.

Have you ever had Hot Pot? It's Chinese fondue. It's really spicy and yummy...and much cheaper than going to the melting pot (When I go, Hot pot is less than $20 per person and melting pot is like $30+ per person). You should google for hot pot restaurants in your area =)

OH MY - that donut picture is AMAZING. I want it right now. I've never made fondue at home...but, I've been making so many batches of chocolate-covered pretzels lately and that salty, sweet, crunchy combo is so awesome!

I love fondue! Todd & I have made it several times and my favorite thing (besides strawberries dipped in chocolate fondue) is homemade pretzel balls dipped in cheese fondue. It is to die for! I've also wanted to go to Melting Pot for years now and I'm hoping that after dropping enough hints, Todd finally figures it out this year for my bday.

I could go for some fondue right now! It has been ages since I had some! A family friend used to make chocolate fondue all the time and bring it over! Last year my roommate and I had a fondue party! It was so good! I just love dipping everything in chocolate! Have a safe drive home! I am not looking forward to work tomorrow :(

I love your shirt in the borders pic its really cute.

Fondue is really good, I've never done it at home, only at restaurant mmm.

So funny story car story for your entertainment. We took my friend Liwei out for his birthday to this place that makes cocktails with fresh squeezed juice. I volunteered to drive and DD. Anyway on the way home it became apparent that Liwei was really enjoying himself because he starts meowing and pawing at the air in the passenger seat. I'm like what on earth are you doing. To which he replies very excitedly and looking super happy "Who's a pretty kitty? Who's a pretty kitty? I am! I am!"

At the point I was laughing so hard I almost I had to focus really hard to continue to drive straight. It was so funny.

Wooow 56 mile week! Holy Macaroni! I think my legs would fall OFF! :P

YES for my last birthday we had a chocolate fondue. My favourite dipper was chocolate. You can't beat chocolate+chocolate! :D

A joke? Oh I have one! My brother emailed me what is supposedly the Worlds Funniest Joke! Don't ask me how they decided that, but see what you think:
~ Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?". The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?"

I absolutely love the Melting Pot! I asked for a fondue set for Christmas a couple of years ago, and my mom got it for me. Guess what. It's still in the box.

so my friend, Kelsey, told me about your blog a few days ago. And I've been blog-stalking since. Love reading about another runner! I would say I'd love to run with you sometime (i'm from utah, too) but I'm hoping for a sub-4:00 marathon in Ogden in May, so not fast enough for Boston or a sub 3:00. You're crazy fast. Hope your drive goes well!

I've never made my own fondue but I really want to. My favorite restaurant is melting pot. Have you ever been there? So so so good, so expensive though. Making it at home would be way cheaper.

I love ALL fondue and all dippers. No lie. ALL.

I'm kind of afraid of making my own fondue - the fondue pot we got for a wedding present almost two years ago is . . still in its box.

That said, I love chocolate fondue and all related fruit/cookie/cake dippers.

I've got nothing for you in terms of making you laugh. I'm crying a little on the inside knowing I have to go back to work tomorrow.

I made fondue at home once, but the chocolate ended up burning. Not so fun! The Melting Pot is always a fun substitute for a special night out, and the best fondue I've ever had was at a tiny Swiss restaurant in Ecuador :)

Going back to being a 'real person' makes those vacations even more enjoyable! Plus, you have summers off - lucky!

Wow that fondue looked amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus, can I steal all your clothes. They are adorable and I want them. You are just gorgeous! Your legs are feeling 56 miles, my nose is for sure feeling 56 miles of tissue that I have used. No fun being sick on break that's for sure. I am not excited about going back to real life either, but thank goodness Martin Luther King Day is coming up. Best believe I'm counting down the days until then. Let's play soon!

I don't have a funny story for you, but I can tell you that I made your mother-in-law's pizza crust recipe AND your braided bread! Both were fantastic, and my husband kept saying, "I can't believe how good this pizza is!" Thank you for passing along the recipes!

Okay, so I L♥VES me some fondue. The MP is pretty expensive though, so I, too, had never been there. But we decided to save up and do it for a special occasion: the (mumblemumblemumble) anniversary of our first date. (this was a few years ago)

So the big night arrives, and I'm excited, and we get there only to find out that it was closed as of the week before because of this.

Somehow, ever since it re-opened, I haven't had the heart to go. So I make it at home and it's probably even better than the overpriced meal we'd have had at the MP.

Among other awesome pursuits, I'm going to try to exercise more this year. More is good! (at least in my case...you don't need this to be your resolution.)

♥, Blue

I just found your blog! That fondue spread looks great! I've never made it at home, but my all time favorite restaurant is a fondue place in Nashville, TN called the Melting Pot! You have not lived until you have had there Yin and Yang dessert fondue (white chocolate/dark chocolate combo).

I have never had fondue, but the spread your in-laws had is tempting me. How can you go wrong with chocolate and marsh mallows?!?!

Good luck this week returning to "real life"! I'm sure you will be missed dearly at your in-laws!

Travel safe!

Fondue is the New Year's Eve tradition in my family. We've done it for as long as I can remember, and my husband and I continue the tradition in our home too! So yes, we make fondue at home all the time, most recently 2 nights ago. :) Love it!!! My favorite is to dip green apples in a cheddar/gruyere cheese fondue.

Oh yeah, it's because you run over 26 miles JUST FOR FUN!!! :) :) So glad you're taking a couple of rest days! You earned it girlfriend!
