Double Chins Are The New Black

I lied to you guys again.  Yesterday was supposed to be a rest day but when my bro-in-law and Billy laced up their shoes for a late night run there was no way I could skip that.

I would have sat by the door whining like a sad little puppy until they got home.

Running in the dark is the greatest especially when it is still 55 degrees, you are with two huge strong men and you don't see a car the whole time.

I felt like I was 8 years old again playing night games on my street.  I felt so free.

3.3 Miles 7:20 average

I love matching people.  I sometimes wait to get ready for the day until Billy has just so I can pick an outfit that looks good with him.  Poor guy.

I told him to do an awkward pose.  Why do I love making myself look weird.  Thank you for loving me unconditionally bloggies.

It is raining again outside so it is off to the gym I go.  Maybe I will pump some serious iron today.

Go wish Kirstie@ Fifty K's Footnotes a happy birthday!!

How often do you weight train?

-I used to be so good and do it 2-3 times a week.  Now I barely soup cans.....I make Billy do it.

Do you run at night or in the dark?

-You couldn't pay me to by myself.  I tend to freak myself out and picture grizzly bears or the skinny scary guy from the 6th Sense chasing after me.  Now that Billy is running I think we might do it more often.

I weight train 2-3 times a year. LOL. Unless you count carrying my groceries ;)

Hahaha, I love the photobomb person in the background! He makes that picture! Hahah.

I hate weight training...so it never gets done, hahah.

And I have run in the dark like once or twice by myself, but I had to text my sister as per my mom every mile to make sure I was still alive. I want to at least once do a midnight run!

I told my boyfriend about how your husband started running to run with you for your Christmas present and guess what...my boy went for a run today! I was so proud! It was less than a mile but still...he got his butt off the couch! :)

haha, I don't run in the dark, but I do walk the dog and i always freak myself out. There are literally no street lights around us (there are probably 5 in the whole town), so it's pitch dark. I wear a headlamp like a cool kid.

My husband and I match all of the time, but that's mostly because all we wear are jeans and black fleeces. We're really original.

I love running at night! It's so invigorating. And H-no I don't run outside at night by myself...way. too. creepy.

I used to lift a lot of weights in college for volleyball, but when I finished playing, I never wanted to touch a weight again. I felt so bulky. But now, I'm getting back into it and love how it makes me feel with the combo of lots of cardio:) It's still only about two times a week though.

I am still in awe that you ran 28 miles the other day. You rock!

I weight train 4 times a week, every week ... and I know my mileage suffers for it, but it keeps the injuries away.

I run at night (or early-dark-thirty) only with company, but I like it ... I rarely have good dark running company, so it is a treat.

Haha I love the guy creepin into the pic!!

I TRY to weight train about 2-3 times per week but it probably happens more like 1-2 times per week.

I love running at night but I often get scared so I don't. If I had someone to run with, it'd be totally different.

Even better than Billy's awkward pose is the dude peeking in on the right. :D.

I run at night, but it tends to be on the treadmill. I try to do one run a week outside, through my neighborhood, but it bores me. I need to venture out and run somewhere else.

And I never weight train. I should. But I don't.

I love matching my husband too! On Sundays I always see what he's wearing first so I know if I should wear a black outfit or brown outfit. I sometimes match our daughter too - PATHETIC.

I actually just got back from a back to back class during my lunch. Strictly strength followed by core/stretching. My arms are shaking as I type this.

I NEVER run alone in the dark. When we lived in the city I was afraid of scary people. Now we live in the country and I'm afraid of coyote.

I absolutely love to run at night, in the dark. It's my favorite running time. When I was training for my first half-marathon it wouldn't get below 80 degrees until after 9pm, so that's when I would run- alone, but in my neighborhood. Loved it, even though my friends thought I was crazy.

Also, my husband HATES when we match. So much so that if I accidentally come out wearing the same colors he is, he will go in and change his clothes before we leave. haha

I do in fact run alone at night. (gasp). I get lectured for it often but I am also not a morning person so what is the alternative? treadmill? heck no! I do run in a pretty well lit area. I have a ton of energy after work and I need to do something with it.

I am so happy your husband (of the year) is now a runner too! Your life just got a tad bit better.

I'm so jealous! I always want to go running at night but I have received a million lectures from Jordan and my dad not to.

I hardly ever weight train. I really want to, but I feel like I don't really know how, agh!

p.s. I laughed out loud at the title!

used to weight train 5-6x a week. lived at the gym for 2 hours at a time for most of my life till my mid 30's. now my body - joints and a few tendons have arthritis and scare tissue everywhere due to it. body building (natural) was a passion at one time. since i ruptured my right biceps 4 years ago, i am runner now.

Awwww... you two are so adorable... even in awkward poses with double chins ;-)

I usually run at night in the dark. I even have a whole post on my blog about The Gate that keeps me feeling safe. But I also don't usually run for as long as you do!

I will begin weight training soon. lol I used to do it 3x/week when I was rowing... a million years ago.

I try to weight train twice a week, but it usually ends up only being once a week.

With only 5.5 hours of daylight here in Alaska during the winter, I am pretty much forced to run in the dark. (I despise running inside.)

Body pump once a week is my weight training- not really enough! But running is more fun! (and there is only one class per week by me!).
I run in the dark before 6pm when the roads are full of commuters and people at bus stops. Later than that and I get freaked out!

I TRY to do weight training 2-3 times a week, but I don't always get it in. That's something I am determined to work on in 2011! I enjoy it, but I just REALLY enjoy running.

I LOVE running in the dark...but not at night...in the morning. We did that for 3 months during our marathon training...starting out around 5 a.m. It was great! I miss it.

I weight train almost every day! I alternate days between upper body and legs, but I'll take a day off if I do a big run or something. And I love the IDEA of running at night, but I don't have any of the reflective gear I need and it's not too safe to go alone so I don't do it.

hahaha yes! LOVE the awkward pictures, my friends and I are such weirdos and love doing those :)

In terms of weight training, I have a hard time motivating to do this, so I try to do a little bit everytime I go to the gym. I also have a circuit cardio/weight program that I need to get better about doing once a week! Sneaking weights in with cardio is a great way to trick myself into doing it!!

I don't ever weight train (and it shows). I do run at night with my hubby who may or may not carry a gun while we do it.

Before I was married I used to run alone at dusk on the semi-secluded running trails, and my mom made up a song for me, sung to the tune of Frere Jaques: "Chandra Levy, Chandra Levy...Just remember, just remember." (If you don't know the tragic story of Chandra Levy, she was killed as she ran on one of the trails not too far from where I was living).

I've run at night with Billy before and I loved it! I'm like you, though, and would never go alone. My imagination runs wild with a creepy man behind every bush or tree. Just no way. Weight training is so minimal (pretty much nonexistent) for me these days but I'm trying to make more of an effort...

Night time/dark time is my FAVORITE time to run outside... it must be growing up in a small town. The worst thing I had to worry about was running into a coyote, ha! Plus I'm fastest at night! I think it's because I've been talking all day and my lungs are wide open and ready to work...

Ever since my knee injury I have been strength training about 3 times a week. This past week I have failed, guess thats what happens during the holidays.

I run in the dark all the TIME! I love it. It is scary sometimes but it is the best because there is no traffic. I usually run in the mornings and I don't get passed by many cars. I have a headlight which helps a lot.

I am so jealous of your beautiful weather!!!!! It is snowing and freezing here, I don't recommend coming back. You won't be able to wear those cute little shorts outside. I love running at night, but I freak myself out, so I stick with daylight. I love running when it's hot. I'm weird. I try to strength train every time I run, but I hate lifting my lower body. I basically just do my upper body and abs. I am so happy you are having a blast in California!!! Cannot wait to catch up.

I wish I could still be running in shorts outside! I really like running at night but get freaked out easily. I've started weight training lately and have been doing it a few times a week - it's fun doing new exercises!

I weight train full-body 3 times a week. Close to races, I drop it the week before, at least the legs anyhow.

I run alot in the dark, usually alone. My pace isn't as good in the dark, guess i'm scared of falling, although all of my falls have been in broad daylight, lol. I leave for work between 6-6:30 am, so if I want an AM run, it usually has to be 4:45-5 start time

so glad you are okay with reading my mommy blogs! :) I try to Jillian's workouts a couple times a week. Good results and I don't have to go to the gym. Sometimes I run at night if it isn't raining and I have my head lamp.

I LOVE to run in the dark, preferrably early morning. I run "by myself" but usually do a route through the local college campus which is well lit and always has people outside.

I love me some weight training :) At least three times a week with my buddy Tony! I don't usually run at night, but when I was training for my first marathon last summer, I got up and ran at 4 am to beat the humidity and heat. I was a little scared at first, but then I realized I was the only one awake, and Starbucks was never out of egg sandwiches - they were usually just opening by the time I was done my run! Perfect.
You and your matching husband are too cute :)

You guys look so cute in that photo!

I run in the dark in the morning often. I have to be at work by 7:00am, so some mornings I'm out running by 5am. I generally stay in my development (3 loops = 1 mile) until daybreak, which sounds mind-numbing, but it's not bad. There are also evenings when I run after dark, but not often unless it is with the group run from the running store where I also work.

i really try to aim for 3 times/week, but too often it ends up being, like, 2, and one of those days is just 2 sets of arms or so. however, today i took a body pump class with a (new to me) HOT instructor, and he kicked my bod's ass. definitely motivating to go back next week :)

havent run in the dark since early college. i like to park on the couch every evening, and i like to run early and get it done. mostly i like to see where i'm going, though. i love scenery.

Weight train- not often. Now that I have discovered boot camp, I will be doing that class once a week. I also like to periodically play with my 3 or 5 lb hand weights at home to do arm and shoulder exercises.

Run at night/dark: Yes. It's necessary for me in the winter. If I'm lucky, I can start my weekday runs before the sun sets, but it's dark when I come back. I save my long run for the weekend during the day though. Luckily we have a couple of nice neighborhoods around us with streetlights and sidewalks.
