Salmon, Best Friends and a Shelf

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes....you really are my bestest friends and your sweet words made my heart get warm and fuzzy.

I had an amazing first run on my treadmill yesterday....seriously, I am already addicted.

Billy finally tore me away from my new toy to go to dinner.

IMG_4055.jpg

Come visit us and I will take you to this restaurant (La Jolla Grove) and you can enjoy the gorgeous view with me k.....

We started with Spinach Artichoke Dip and it was amazing. The bread was buttery and toasty, my favorite. Oh and there were about a jillion rolls....didn't you know on your birthday you are supposed to eat a roll for each year of life. I can't wait until I turn 100.

IMG_4057.JPG

We heard amazing things about the Salmon and so 5 out of 6 of us got it and it was ridiculously good. The sauce was some sort of cilantro pesto thing and I could have drank it.

IMG_4059.JPG

FREE DESSERT is the best part of birthdays right.  There was some crazy awesome vanilla bean ice cream underneath all of those bright berries.  It was my bff's Megan's b-day too and we both licked our desserts plate clean.

IMG_4060.JPG

Megan is the girl in the middle.  Um, don't worry about it she just made the dancing team for Cirque du Soleil in Vegas, she is famous.  She is also a crazy awesome runner and we will be doing a half marathon together in thirteen days!! Anyone else doing Dog Town 1/2 Marathon?

IMG_4061.JPG

My cutest bro-in-law and sis-in-law came....they are the BEST!! They bought me a little shelf to put up above the treadmill.  Now, all of my hours of tv watching of The Bachelor and The Biggest Loser will be done in the comfort of my sneakers and tempo shorts.  Did I tell you that you can watch the course at the same time you are running it?!?!

IMG_4063.JPG

After din-din we went to the dollar theatre of course and watched, 'Fair Game.'  It was good but I was confused half the time....at least I had a bag of Sour Patch Kids to entertain me;)  Came home and watched another 23 episodes of Arrested Development.

P.S. I may or may not be tackling the Boston Hills on the treadmill before church today.  I will listen to church music:)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What are your birthday traditions?

-Tonight we are going to my mom's.  She always makes me my favorite, lasagna and we have presents and dessert....get excited for what we are having, I used a lot of your recommendations!

It is also tradition for Billy to make me some breakfast and give me a foot massage...right honey.

Have you ever seen any shows in Vegas?

-Nope, but now I am going to have to see Megan when she starts doing shows!!

Have you seen Arrested Development?  If yes, who is your favorite character?

-Buster is the funniest human being alive.

Happy Birthday! Those views are gorgeous! I am a total sucker for snowy mountain views. Salmon with cilantro sauce sounds amazing! My parents started a birthday tradition for us kids when I was little - we would get a mini York peppermint patty for each age we are. I still get them, next year, I get 22, yay candy! Enjoy your new treadmill & birthday!

Happy Birthday!! My only birthday tradition is cake and ice cream (or ice cream cake), other than that it's up in the air.

I've seen one of the Cirque shows in Vegas. Amazing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad you had a fun night out last night - that salmon looks delicious! Billy is cooking salmon for Valentine's Day dinner. Your new treadmill is so amazing! Technology is incredible. I know you're loving it. Enjoy every minute of your day with church and surrounded by your family. I've been to a Cirque show in Vegas - we saw O (the water one) and Love - the Beatles one0 both awesome. Congrats to Megan! That's too cool. Maybe we'll all meet in Vegas to see her perform one day. :)

Sounds like a great birthday celebration! I don't really have any birthday traditions. When I was a kid though my mom had a "Happy Birthday" sign that she put on our front door when it was our birthday. I remember coming home on my 20th birthday and the sign was on the door. I laughed so hard because I thought at that point I was too old for it. I guarantee that if I was home for my birthday this year that sign would be up.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be running the Shamrock 1/2 March 19th in Eagle Mtn if you want to run that one!

happy birthday again. Glad you had a great time last night!

birthday traditions - my bf and I are only 3 days apart, so our tradition for the past few years is to have a huge party with both of our families.

I've never seen a show in vegas, but I'd love to go!

I don't love arrested development, but I'll tolerate it because my bf is obsessed. I even got him a "Hey Brother" shirt with buster's face on it for xmas last year.

I've seen Ka and Love (both Cirque shows) and they were great.

Arrested Development is the BEST! Why do the always cancel the good shows? I love Maeby and George Sr, but honestly there's not a character I hate.

So jealous of your new toy, by the way. I researched treadmills for a half hour after reading your post yesterday.

Oh my god I didn't have time to read all the comments but did anyone say you look just like Rachel McAdams in that picture outside with your hubby? And that is a huge compliment, because I think she's number one on my list of pretty actresses. I usually say that calories don't count on your birthday, but I think I like your idea better - don't you also need to eat a piece of chocolate for every year you have been alive? I love arrested development - its been too long though, I can't remember my favorite character. Happy birthday!

I don't have any birthday traditions. :( But I'd love to steal some of yours... lasagna and dessert sounds excellent. And I NEED to go to Utah - I can't imagine seeing mountains like that ALL the time! Goorrgeous.

I saw Zumanity in Vegas - the more adult Cirque du Soleil one - and it was very cool. The only problem was that I had the flu when I saw it, so I was puking my guts out in the bathroom seconds before it started and was holding my breath the whole time, praying that I wouldn't get sick again until it was over. Very neat show, though.

Buster is the beeesst. He and the "never nude" husband are my favorites. Such a funny show.

Have an awesome birthday!! Enjoy your dessert, I can't wait to hear what it is! And I should yell at you for not resting on your rest day, but I wouldn't be able to ignore the shiny new treadmill either!

Happy happy birthday.

My b-day tradition since childhood is we got to say that day what we wanted for dinner and dessert, and everyone else just went with it, no matter what it was. 2 years ago after dinner I told everyone I just wanted a bowl of cereal for dessert and everyone followed suit. It was hilarious since everyone there was over 30.

Looks like a fabulous birthday dinner to me!! And the shelf was such a great idea! I got a treadmill for my birthday this past year, and it's been great! Our only birthday traditions typically involve going out to dinner and then for a walk. The rest changes every year since it's always hit or miss whether we'll be together, we live thousands of miles from our families, and since we move every 3 years there hasn't been a lot of consistency. But we make it work and it's always a fun time!

Wow! A few things stand out about this post....Fist your friend doing Cirque du Soleil is amazing!! WOW! I wish I and a tiny piece of talent required to be in one of their shows!! My hubby and I saw Zumanity in Vegas for our anniversary. Wow, makes me blush thinking about it. It wasn't as bad as a lot of people say. the movements those people do are outrageous!! I can't imagine. I also saw Phantom of the Opera with Mel-Tall Mom in Vegas! It was awesome! Other than that I saw Alegria, another Cirque De Soleil in Tacoma. It was a gift to my hubby when he returned from Afghanistan. We loved it so much my husband bought tickets to see it again with out 5 year old! It was awesome! I saw another one years ago in San Fran when I was living in Monterey. I can't remember what it was though. Needless to say my hubby and I love the shows and we want to see each and every one!! I can't wait to see The Michael Jackson one!!!!

P.S. I love salmon!

Happy Birthday! I've never been to Vegas but I'm sure I'd go if I had a friend in a show :) That sounds really exciting!

I watched Arrested Development so long ago, I don't remember a lot of the character names but I thought it was hilarious!

FELIZ CUMPLEANOS!!

Cirque de Soleil Vegas eh? My husband works in film production - he works for a 3D company - and he spilled that Cirque de Soleil Vegas is the next thing they're shooting. So I'm sure he'll be seeing a lot of Megan! Yaaay for yummy food and a beautiful year! I hope you are blessed with everything you need (& want ;-))

A very happy birthday to you! What a wonderful gift from your loving husband!
No birthday traditions for me, I've never been to Vegas and I really love Gob, Buster and George Michael... :)
PS- I tried getting my husband to move to Utah after seeing how gorgeous your pictures are! I love the one of you in the Costco parking lot, just chilling with beautiful mountains in the background. Amazing!

OMG I am in love with La Jolla Groves - it's my fav of all time!

Happy Birthday and I'm debating whether I want to run the 9k - we are going down there anyway that weekend - would make it easier since I'll probably eat Bear Paw every morning we are there!!

I'm in for Dogtown.

And....it's your lucky day. I'd be willing to trade all the Valentine candy in my house (= lots) for your treadmill.

We'll shake on it when you come to St. George in a few weeks.

Your treadmill setup is pretty sweet! Hopefully Brian will buy me one after we get married!

For my bday my mom usually makes an amazing meal and cake. I don't usually get too many presents.

Arrested Development is so funny. Gob is the best.
I actually went to Vegas for my honeymoon because I'm classy like that. Saw Love and Crazy Horse. It was a good time.
