Friday Favorites

Thank you so much for all of the amazing comments this morning about my veggie addiction.  I got warm fuzzies reading your responses.

Workout: Friday's are my long runs but I could not get up as early as I was hoping so.....

13 miles @ 7:47 w/1% incline before school.

5 miles during lunch, now the faculty think I am even weirder, but I love it.

I know it doesn't equal an 18 mile long run but there are still a ton of benefits from splitting a long run up.  My legs were tired the second round and I pushed through the feeling and hopefully got stronger.  Mentally it was tough to get back out there and run when I knew I had already ran that day.

Next weekend I have FRIDAY and MONDAY off.  It is sad that when I first heard that I had Friday off I thought about how awesome it will be to get in a long run without interruptions and then spend the rest of the day baking.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's that time again....Friday Favorites.  I show you my latest obsessions and things that make me smile real big.

1-A new pack of bobby pins. Yes, I know they are 84 cents but for the last 3 months I have torn the house apart looking for one every morning because I was all out.  Now I have 60 bobby pins to loose all over Provo and my house.

IMG_4027.jpg

2-Avacado's.  Um, 6 for $3 dollars at Costco.  Expect to see some sort of avocado concoction ever meal for the next 4 days.

IMG_4031.jpg

Do you see my creepy eyeball in that picture?

3- Modern Family.  Here is the link to take you directly there so that you can watch it now!!!!  Phil is my favorite character ever.

IMG_4038.JPG

4- A new hot chocolate mug along with other awesome presents (like girl scout cookies) from the cutest Mother-In-Law in the world!! I LOVE YOU!!!

IMG_0653.jpg

6.  Eating Swedish Fish at 6:30 in the morning....I am out of shot blocks and I needed a little energy during my run.  Please, don't judge.

IMG_4033.JPG

What are your FRIDAY FAVORITES??

Would you rather have no internet for a year or no reality tv shows for 3 years?

-I would die without the internet for anything more than an hour so I choose no reality tv.  That would stink though, why did I make up this question? It made me sad thinking about life without either of these things.

What should I make with my avocado's?

Do you ever split up your long runs?

Make guacamole like we do down here in Mexico: Puree the avocados with water and garlic salt. And you're done. Seriously. That's it. And I learned THAT tip from the Mexicans themselves.

No reality tv. Get rid of internet? Yeah right.

Friday favorite? When my class shows up at my door with a cupcake for me.

I seriously WILL TEAR MY BATHROOM/PURSE/LIVING ROOM/BEDROOM apart looking for bobby pins. Why I don't just buy more? Who knows. Glad I'm not alone.

1. I had a GREAT Friday run. 10 miles. 1 hour 18 minutes. It was cold and sunny here in Boston. I'll take it over snow.

2. That's about it for my Friday favorites BECAUSE I WORK ALL WEEKEND. Boo.

Enjoy your avocados!

I just posted on Modern Family! Ha! Love the show so much!! I think you should wear a permanent nametage that says I AM RUNNING BOSTON UNDER 3 HOURS, so your coworkers can be in complete admiration of your dedication. Boo-yah! Great job on your run!!!!

You just gave me an idea for my fuel source during my 17 miler tomorrow--Swedish fish!!!

I'd rather have NO TV! IN fact we don't have Tv!! But I love my internet!

My husband and I loooooove watching Modern Family, because he has a little Phil in him (that's what she said) and I can definitely see myself doing some of the stuff Claire does.

Waiting in the street to yell at the crazy person in the fast car? I would TOTALLY do that.

Veggies are awesome! =D
Friday Favorites:
Doughnut muffins that I made this morning!

Family time!!!!!!

Finished the LONGEST week of school ever! =P

New popscicle that I found with vanilla ice cream and strawberry coating on the outside!

I'd probably pick no reality tv because I don't watch that much television anyway, but I love being online and stalking everyone else's blogs! =P Hope you have a great weekend and Happy early Birthday since I won't have internet access!

No reality tv for sure. ANd the avacados? Make this salad: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Roquefort-Pear-Salad/Detail.aspx Thank me later.

Oh, and your short 1/2 of your split long run is my usual long run, so no, I don't split them ;)

Friday favorite? Ran 10k today for the first time :)

Yay I am the first comment... maybe I shouldn't yay, is this stalkerish??

I've had a really bad week and catching up on your blog just made me smile :)

I'd rather not have reality tv shows because I NEED the internet to get me through work, school and blogging!

With your avocado's you should make guacomole to put on anything, or slice the avacodes and put some lime juice on them for a healthy yummy snack. Whatever you make put lime juice in it because it prevents the avacodoes from turning brown

oh man I'm the same way with hair pins. my boyfriend goes crazy finding them everywhere but somehow I can NEVER find them when I need them. And of course why would I spend money on more when I know they are someplace around here! (and I'm in grad school so I scrimp wherever I can!!)
And I LOVE modern family too!! I think my boyfriend is like phil and I'm a little like Claire haha love watching it.
also - I made that braided bread you posted on here a while back and it was SO good. and gone way too quickly! I think I might have to make some more this afternoon :)

Yes I have split long runs, sometimes you just have to because of times. I once had a 20 mile long run scheduled on the day of a half marathon. I did the half ate a banana, went potty, and then kept going. Old men at the half were yelling at me that I was going the wrong way and some people looked at me like I was crazy and coming back for more. Veggies are good!

I don't like to split up my long runs, but I do when I need to. but for me, long run is still like six miles, so...
I could never give up the internet for three years. never ever never.
and as far as the avocados - definitely a turkey burger or put them on a chicken sandwich or something. it ALMOST makes me miss eating meat. (I'd put them on a veggie burger.)

lastly, OMG BOBBY PINS. after months of yelling anytime I needed them and crawling under my sofa and bed to find them, I just bought TWO new packs. one lives in my house and one lives in my gym bag. you have no idea how exciting that is. except, you probably DO know.

lastly, saw this quote today and am passing it on to all runners:

‎"You're running on guts. On fumes. Your muscles twitch. You throw up. You're delirious. But you keep running because there's no way out of this hell you're in, because there's no way you're not crossing the finish line. It's a misery that non-runners don't understand." -Martine Costello

I JUST POSTED MY FRIDAY FAVOURITES!! I feel like we're twinnies, because I'm cool like that:)

Three words for you. Chocolate Avocado Mousse. It's the bomb, seriously!!

And I often split up my long runs because I don't usually have the time to just run for 2 hours straight! You're right that it's harder later, but it's good practice. And ultra-marathoners do it anyway for their training:)

I'm totally OCD and neurotic, and he's just a goon. the episode where they go to see a movie and have to see a french one instead of the awful 3D horror movie? yeah, we totally lost it. they ARE us. The best thing about the internet is you can watch TV on it!!!! So...no reality TV. I'll take my internet, thank you.

You should make some avocado egg rolls, these are awesome. I don't know if you've ever had them at Cheesecake Factory or BJ's Brewery, but they are so yum.

And I don't usually split my long runs. I've never really had to? But in a pinch, i'm glad it worked for you!! When I ran my 2nd marathon I was around mile 19 and some random spectator had a big Costco sized tub of gummy bears up for grabs and I grabbed a handful and they were the best fuel ever!!!

Sometimes splitting up long runs is the only way to get them in.

Even though you had to split it up I'm jealous of your run. I am suppose to do 18 miles in the morning but can't because I am sick! :-(

Totally with you on the avocados. Once there was a day where I managed to eat avocados in all 3 meals. It was the best day ever!

Good job! I split up my runs occasionally, but not usually. Usually, once I'm done, I'm done .. I tried to buy avocados from Costco tonight but they were yucky (way overripe). I did get TONS of other produce though and am now eating a huge salad, so it is okay. :)

My Friday favorite this week is the time that I have tonight to surf Amazon.com for more birthday presents for Jason. I have been slowly ordering items and having them shipped to my work. They are locked in the bottom of my filing cabinet. I learned very early on in this relationship, there are no secrets when you live with a detective. Try and be sneaky and get some shopping in when you think he isn't looking? Yeah right. lol

I'd have to go without the reality shows. I do not watch them all that often, but can you imagine a year without blogs???

Make guacamole.. it is SO GOOD! Cut avacados in half, take pit out, scoop 'meat' out, and mash with a fork. cut up cilantro, onion, then mix together. Sqeeze fresh lime juice and add salt to your preference. DELISH!!! you can eat it with anything... tostitos, crackers, put it on sandwiches, tacos..anything!

I have never split up my long runs.. i think it would be really hard for me to get out the second time. you are awesome for being able to do that!!

OK-so I just backtracked to your last post. I eat my salad out of a HUGE popcorn bowl at work because that is the only thing big enough. My coworkers always make comments about how I don't gain weight but eat so much food.....Hmmm-I have a theory about this...

Bobby pins, ponytail holders, and socks. They are obviously disposable as I ALWAYS have them on my shopping list.

I love avocados. I always throw them in pico and make tacos out of them. Honestly, for once those Swedish fish aren't even tempting me since I cleared off the CANDY OCEAN of them on Tuesday.

Yeah-I could never live without internet. TV-no problem. I split up runs sometimes. Would be one thing if you were only running one 18 miler in your whole training cycle and tried to split it up. We all know that's not true now-ha!

OK, you are a savage beast of a blogger. LOVE all your posts, and I never have time to respond. So here are all of my tardy responses. I will have a note from my mom later.

1. LOVE cruises!! HELLO amazing food with no dishes. And magic pillow mints. P.S. Your pic of the towel monkey totally made me laugh out loud =)

B. Ummmm....kinda can't believe you're getting flack for eating veggies. Since everyone knows cheetos are WAY better for you.

NOTE: when my students ask me why I do something - but it isn't actually a question - it's an underhanded whine/disagreement/judgment....I always say "because I am a beast like that" (smile). The rest of my kids crack up - pointless discussion over. Never tried it on adults, though - they might think I'm weird for comparing myself to manly animals and thinking it's cool.

3. I am totally stealing your swedish fish idea for long runs. So awesome.

4. Have I mentioned lately that you are GORGEOUS?? All pictures of Janae = made for magazines.

Happy birthday week!! =)

Great deal on the avacados!!

I cannot keep bobby pins around either- they are always lost and found by the mini midget. =D

Really- that is a tough choice!!! I can't choose. Without the internet I have no TV!

I loose bobby pins like crazy, too!

I would rather have no reality tv - I can watch Teen Mom online!

My favorite way to use avacados: in quesadillas with shrimp and pepperjack. Sounds weird - tastes awesome.

Great blog entry! My Friday favorites: having a half day!, hanging out with my spouse and finding a really cool apartment!

Def no reality tv. I like the internet too much.

I'd put it in sandwiches and in quesadillas.

I've split up a long run once but it was due to weather. I can understand the benefits though!

Wow! You never cease to amaze me! You are an awesome athlete- don't worry about what you stupid co-workers think about your choice of food. THey're probably jealous that they are not making the same decisions:)
Avocados rock! I discovered them last summer and Costco has the best guacamole in the world! You should check it out! Slather some on just about anything- veggie burgers especially!
Oh and Swedish fish.... Simply awesome!;D
Modern Family = my family. thanks for reminding me to check my DVR!

Mmm avocados! So many options. I would go with a Guac!

Avocados 6 for $3!! SO jealous! Mine are like 2 for 4 dollars! Ugg. I'm not made of money, I just want to eat healthy!

Hey lovely lady you! I don't use bobby pins but oh how I am always on the lookout for my little brown hair ties. I don't know where they go...probably with the socks that go missing. Somewhere there is a world with lots of socks and hairties.

I always prefer salad over soup...I think that was your most recent post. A few favorites...pizza and brownies last night with my family. A date tonight with friends...think I'm going to go get a cute little outfit...it has been too long since I've dressed in anything other than major casual...usually yoga pants.

I love modern family! So funny! I also love hairclips and wonder where they all dissapear to!
I dont split up my runs, but I have heard it can be great for building endurance. And I would keep the internet and live without reality tv for a year, even though amazing race is one of my fave ever shows! Could that count as a travel show I wonder and not realitiy tv? Haha! Come the 1st jan the following year I could watch the whole series in one day I suppose! :)
