BBQ Sandwiches and Pinky Promises

I think you should probably enter my GIVEAWAY if you haven't already.  All the cool kids are doing it.

Thank you all for the birthday week wishes, my testimony of us being best friends grew even more because all of you understand how important it is to celebrate the whole birthday week if not the entire month of your birthday.

Billy, had present #1 out in the living room when I got home from school.  Yes, it is wrapped in Sports Illustrated magazine pages.  Who buys wrapping paper these days?

I am the queen at guessing what presents are when they are still wrapped but with this one I am completely baffled and I have to wait until SUNDAY to open it.

I didn't even give him my usual gift list with the top 50 things that I want this year so I really have no idea what it could be.

IMG_4001.jpg

Present #2 arrived at around 6 p.m.  It was delivered to our house and Billy made me pinky promise to not look out the window while he took it from the front porch to the car to take it to his brothers house.  It was the hardest 240 seconds of my life but I have never broken a pinky promise, those things are sacred.

Q.  Why must he store my present at his brother's house?

A.  I am a 5 year old and he knows that during his Thursday evening lab when I am home alone I would have torn through the house in pursuit of finding out what my present is.

Billy has something up his sleeves.

Dinner tonight was brought to you buy costco.  Costco chicken breasts (baked in the oven and then shredded), Costco cheese, Costco bbq sauce, Costco bread and Costco broccoli.  If only we had a Costco bag of trail mix to go along with dinner for me to pick out all the M&M's.  Billy stopped buying trail mix years ago because I guess it is cheaper to just buy a bag of nuts because that is all he would get from the mix after I picked through it.

IMG_4006.JPG

P.S. Please warn me if you have any bachelor spoilers on your blog.  As you know I am obsessed with the show and I look forward to watching it with every fiber of my being Tuesday's after school.  You may tell me in the comments whether you loved it or hated it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you pick through trail mix or do you honor the purpose of the mix and just grab a handful?

-M&M's, dried fruit and raisins do not stand a chance in a room alone with me.

Do you like being surprised with presents or would you rather pick it out yourself?

-I LOVE to be suprised but at the same time I love trying to figure out what it is.  I might have to break into the bro-in-laws house, the suspense is killing me.

What is your FAVORITE method to eat veggies?

-My favorite is during the summer when we grill them but I usually toss them in olive oil and cook them for 20 minutes at 400 degrees (aka roasting).  I love dipping them in bbq sauce/ketchup/ranch/salsa....you name it.  I am a weird woman, but you already knew that.

I am thinking the present might be a puppy. If you could choose any type of puppy what would you get?

-I would LOVE to get a chocolate lab or a little white fluffy poodle.

I haven't watched The Bachelor yet either. I'm saving it for my treadmill run today.

Mini schnauzers are the best... because I have one :)

I love to either grill veggies in the summer, or roast them in the winter. Cooking them in water is not something I do. Blech.

I am very very picky about my trail mix--if there is one thing in it I won't eat, I won't buy it. My favorite is M&Ms, raisins, and roasted peanuts. I will eat it until my body bloats and I feel sick.

When I was in middle school my parents used to wrap all of our Christmas presents right away and put them under the tree. When I would be home alone I would take a razor blade and slice the scotch tape and open not only my own presents but my brothers' presents as well. Then I would take another piece of tape and put it over the original tape so no one would know all the presents had been opened.

Happy Birthday Week!!! I love being surprised with presents!!! :) It's so much fun! I love labs, too and I think that's what kind of puppy I'd want, too...so adorable!!!

This morning I did mile repeats on the treadmill...can you explain more about temp runs? I never seem to get it right!! Do you do them?!

Ohmaigawd, anything chocolate/raisins/dried fruity in trail mix will be picked out by yours truly. Who wants nuts when you can have sweet deliciousness?!

With my parents, I always have to pick out my gifts because they have no idea what kinds of things I would want, which is sad but I like shopping for myself:) Otherwise, I love surprises!

Slash I eat veggies STRAIGHT UP, girl! Love me my greeeeens:)

I hope you get a puppy! You could have a dog to run with then, I love running with my dog! I'll usually eat everything in the trail mix, just eat a higher proportion of the M & Ms. Roasting veggies is the best way for most of them, but I prefer raw carrots dipped in hummus. Hope you're enjoying your birthday week!

Now I'm curious about your present, too! =D
I loove roasted veggies!!!! Soo good! and they are great with any added sauce!!!!

Pinky Promises are sacred so no breaking in to anyone's house!

I love to be surprised but I usually give a list of 30 things and then people can choose off of it. For Christmas I forgot what I had put on my list so I was double surprised!

Veggies with hummus and/or avacadoes are amazing. mmm making me hungry :)

I had a chocolate lab growing up and he is absolutely amazing. Best dog you will ever have. If you get one I'll be super jealous.

I love being surprised!

I hope you're getting a puppy!!! There is nothing cuter in this world that a wiggly little puppy. A lab would be good because you could run with it.

Like my veggies roasted or in a soup!

I want to know what Billy has planned!

I usually grab a handful of trail mix but then eat the "bad" stuff before the M&Ms, etc.

I'm as bad as you with presents. The first Christmas that my boyfriend, now husband, were together, I bugged him and tormented him so much that he gave me my present in november. Now he never plans presents in advance so he can't give it to me early.

I have a black lab and she's the best! Labs are the best dogs ever.

I LOVE being surprised! The huz can bring my gifts right in and I won't shake them or try to guess becasue I don't want to spoil it for myself...
I don't even bother to buy trailmix because I just pick out my favorite bits.
I adore lab puppies- there is absolutely nothing cuter or more sleepy! SO cute!

I want a cavaliar king charles spaniel. My sister has one and he is the cutest, all cuddley. I also heart being surprised.

I have to have an equal amount if each item in every bite when it comes to trail mix. I am weird like that.

I like surprises! but I also like to pick it out myself too.

I love a BIG SALAD! I eat one everyday!

Dachshunds, aka weiner/hot dogs, all the way! My mom has two and they are the best dogs.

I like to grab a handful and see what I get in the trail mix. However, over Christmas, we ate a lot of Planters Peanut Brittle Nut Mix, and I did pick all the peanut brittle out before I ate any of the nuts.
I'd love to get another beagle. We have one and she's 5 now, so I'm thinking she might need a new sibling before too long.

At February 8, 2011 at 7:00 AM , Blogger Stephanie said...

I always pick the fruit and candy out of the trail mix I don't really like nuts of any kind so it makes for some interesting eating!

I want a new Puppy SO bad, I really want to get a Bull terrier (the Target Dog) or a Weimerimer so I can run with it!

At February 8, 2011 at 7:04 AM , Blogger LindseyAnn said...

Haha, I just posted about my puppy fixation yesterday! I want a shih-tzu so badly! A pug would be awesome, too, or a golden retriever... I just really really really really really want a dog!
Veggies-raw, steamed, or grilled.
And, I really dislike surprises! It must be the control freak in me, because I hate not being in on a secret like that!

At February 8, 2011 at 7:04 AM , Blogger Jess said...

Not gonna lie: I pick through trail mix. I love certain M&Ms and certain nuts :)

I am ALL about being surprised with presents, although I can be a little sneaky and try to peak, even though I really don't like to know what I am getting.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE roasted veggies. Actually, I would eat vegetables however they are prepared (except fried). I just love my vegetables!

I would pick a lab because that's what I grew up with! Or a mini pocket dog, so I could be cool and all and buy a cute little purse to carry it around in!

At February 8, 2011 at 7:08 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

!!! it is so cold in your house!!!

I love trail mix, and just shove handfuls in my mouth. No discrimination here. Love surprises, but if it's something super expensive, I would rather pick it out myself. As for the puppy question... you've asked me at the wrong time!!

I went to a fro yo place in honor of your bday week, pictures will be up in the next couple of days!

It's so exciting it's your birthday week...seems like Billy has some fun things up his sleeve for you! A puppy would be a super fun gift!! I would love to have a lab...any color. They're soo sweet, but we haven't gotten one we don't have a yard suitable for one right now...but someday...big dreams here :)

I like to make my own trail mix, so then I get all my favorite goodies in there! I try to not pick things out, even though it's inevitable.

I also love grilled veggies. Add those puppies on a kabob and you've got one happy girl here! Veggies, pineapple & meat...oh yea!

The Bachelor: Drama and crazy-town were going strong that's for sure! I'm a little disappointed with who went home, but that's all I'll tell ya :)

I HOPE YOU GET A PUPPY!!!! That would SOOO exciting!!! Labs are the best! I have a yellow lab her name is Lucy and I got her when she was 8 weeks old. Best decision ever made! I am obsessed with her! Labs are so awesome. My dream is to have at least 2. If I could a second one I'd probably get either a chocolate or a black lab. They are such sweet and loving dogs! :)

LOVED the Bachelor!!! It's a good one. You will see. I pick out the M & M's of the trail mix, always have. My mom always slapped my hand when I did it. I loved to be surprised. That's more of a present to me then what I actually get!!!! Love love it! I like veggies in a salad, chopped up. I have a hard time eating whole pieces. No puppy for me, animals are gross. But I like looking at other people's. And I would enter your giveaway, but due to the face that 1,000 people have already entered, I know I will not win. I'm not lucky at all! Love ya!

My boyfriend HATES it when we eat chex mix together because I always pick out the chex and then leave everything else. (if the chex are gone, then I switch to cheerios) I don't know, I just don't like the other stuff so why eat it? :)

Also, I am terrible with presents too. When I was younger my mom used to wrap the presents right away for Christmas but I being the clever 7th grader I was unwrapped them, checked them out, and then wrapped them back up. It was not my proudest moment--I've grown up a little since then. Wrapped presents are now off limits. ;)

Veggies.. hmm on salad, eggs or pizza!!

Great Dane! They are huge loving dogs! BUT don't like to be alone too long. They love being with their family. Do not require much space as they will lay on top of you.

- I absolutely love he is teasing you about the presents

- I tookly peg you as a snooper looking for presents hidden

- I went to costco last night, big mistake after going swimming on an empty stomach before hand

- I grab a handful, then I seperate the mix into piles and eat the not the yummiest first to the yummiest last

- I have gotten picky over the years (thats bad, I know it), I prefer to get exactly what I ask for, which is usually racing gear, I send exact links to the item I want

I DEF pick through trail mix and Brian HATES it! opps oh well! He still loves me!

I hope Brian surprises me for my bday! I have been dropping hints but we will see what happens!

I love grilled veggies! I love eating kabobs from the grill! CAN'T wait for summer!

I can't do surprises - hence why my hubby bought my b-day present this year on Thursday and I had it on my hand by Thursday night! :) Oooh... I hope your gift really is a puppy! That would be awesome! We have a black lab mutt (she is full grown but looks like a puppy lab) and another mutt who's a golden color. Love them to pieces.

Def get a chocolate girl tho, they are the sweetest things ever. I grew up having 2 and loved them to death!

Yay for birthday weeks and birthday surprises! Mark actually keeps all of my gifts at his parents house because I am the worst snoop on the planet.

It would be so fun if you got a puppy. We have a husky, and he's amazing. If we got another dog, I would like an Airedale or a pug.

I totally pick out the M&Ms and peanuts in trail mix. Raisins are icky.

My favorite way to eat veggies is grilled as well. I love a good char, especially when it comes to red peppers : )

I do like surprises, but like you, I can hardly contain myself if I know where the present is. It's OK to be a 5 year old if you make up for it in coolness.

If I had a puppy, I'd want a golden lab. They're the cutest puppies ever! SO cuddly and adorable.

Puppies? I'd have a German Shepherd. It would replace the need for a husband for me :P

I am a complete picker when it comes to trail mix, cereal, granola etc. No raisins are safe from me, particularly if they're chocolate covered!

I prefer to be vaguely surprised with pressies...some indication of what they will be is nice but curiosity usually gets the better of me and I go 'hunting' for them like you do.

I think Billy is definitely vying for the Best Husband Ever title. I still know where my mom hides her presents for Christmas and it takes every ounce of will power for me to not look! But I love to be surprised so I (mostly) manage to resist peeking.

My fave way to eat my veggies is definitely smothered in parmesan cheese. I like to follow the measuring guideline of one heaping spoonful of cheese per veggie.

If I were to get another puppy I would definitely want a running doggy (australian shepard or queensland heeler) I already have a cockapoo and maltipoo so I definitely understand your LOVE for little poodles...but they can't run! :(

I like them when they are from Billy - he's really good at gift-giving. But for my mom, it's better if I tell her ahead of time. Otherwise I end up with some strange things. But let's be honest, lately, my gifts are running shoes, running clothes or entry fee to a race. :) I'm excited for you with these fun surprise gifts! The Bachelor is getting pretty intense. My favorite puppy is my little Riley girl...a miniature dapple dachshund but when I have a yard I also want a golden retriever :) have a good day...happy birthdayyyyy week! also...yes...we should definitely do treadmill runs together soon :)

Happy birthday week! I hope you get a puppy so you can post cute pictures of it.

I like to keep the trailmix mixed, like surprises and tend to prefer my veggies in a big salad. I also wish I had some trailmix, I wonder if there is any in the office vending machine. ;-)

You are so cute about your birthday... I am the same way ;-) Only 60 more shopping days until mine... if you count Sundays and the day of.

I used to pick trail mix apart. Mercilessly. About presents... I like both! Presents are pretty much always good :) And grilled veggies are the BEST! And no puppy for me... 4 kids is enough to take care of right now!

And to see an awesome Stickerface... I've posted my little one with her collection of stickers from the other day on my blog. And I was remembering that you also like to put stickers on YOUR face!

I love surprises also! I actually like to hide the gifts I get for G-man but he doesn't really ask what it is (like I do to him for everything) so I like to mention it here and there, that's kinda taunting but oh well.

I like to roast my veg also and hello I'm a total dipper! I dip my veggies in anything, I don't know what it is. Someone told me most condiments/dips have a fairly high suger content so maybe that's what it is?

I have a 7 month old choc lab and she is soooo crazy!! We got her when she was only 6 weeks old (b/c her momma died) and she now thinks my hubby and I are her real parents. she follows us around, sleeps in between us, and goes with us everywhere...but we HAVE to walk her 2-3 miles everyday, and play ball forever, and chase her around or she is so hyper!! I love her with all my heart...I say go for it...but don't say I didn't warn you puppies are ALOT of work!!

Grilled vegetables are my all time favorite! and I would want a chocolate lab too! Or some type of little cute puppy! I usually pick make a wish list so people who don't know what to get me don't get my something that I won't like...but I like being surprised by my boyfriend!

My brother cracks my shit up on a regular basis, so I'm glad he's willing to do crazy workouts and watch reality tv with me. So much fun.

I really hope that Michelle is acting, because I'm scared to think of people that crazy just out wandering the streets.

no spoilers on my blog it is safe to stop buy
I did watch it. Will not say anything other then I raised my voice talking to the TV more then once. Bill had to tell me "it is just a TV show"

puppy: Golden retriever! nothing is cuter.

presents: surprises always, I hate having to give ideas I never ask for any for others.

veggies: raw most of the time.

Happy Birthday week! I love surprises, best way to go... although sometimes it's nice to get what I really want too. :) As for trail mix, I'm definitely a picker.

I'm with you on the trail mix, def my same mix. i just finished the bag I had and thank god it's gone; it was driving me crazy sitting there staring at me every night! haha!

i hate surprises, but then like them. i guess i like material surprises, not the ones where people show up and i don't know.

and veggies are best eaten roasted, or grilled. oh i can't wait for summer to come!

Get a Boxer. We've had two and LOVE them!!!! They're so pretty and good with kids (I know you don't have any right now, but that's okay). I like to pick things out of the trail mix sometimes too, but TRY to honor the fact that it's the luck of the draw as you go for a handful. The Bachelor was okay, but the drama can be so predictable.

I love roasted veggie like you do...and the hubs has gotten me into a lot of new veggies to roast, root veggies like turnips and parsnips...to add to my favorites of zucchini, asparagus, long green beans and broccoli. Corn is also amazing roasted...I pick out the peanuts from trailmix most of the time...you can have my m&m's. I would LOVE to get a dog. I want a big dog. The hubs "claims" to be allergic but I don't believe him. I don't want to, but I may shell out some money and get a doodle mix since they are hypoallergenic...laberdoodle? I like to be surprised with gifts..but growing up I would hunt the house for gifts and even unwrap and re wrap. I completely would spoil the surprise!

You would have loved growing up in my house. I would get what we called an hour birthday, which means I would get a present every hour from 7 am to like 10 pm. Maybe you should do that next year.

A)Suprises are the BEST. Just wait for 'em...it will be better than way.

B) My fav part of the Costco trailmix is always the salt raisins. Anyone else?

Do you REALLY think you might get a puppy!?!?! WOWOWOWOWWO!

I'm whole-heartedly obsessed with the Bachelor. You must know that it is the ONLY show I watch. Literally. only show all week. Please babble more about it on your blog!

Fave way to eat veggies: roasted plain, then with all sorts of dips/sauces on the side.

roasted veggies are my FAVORITE. specifically roasted broccoli. and I don't really care about surprises - I like being surprised but I also don't care if I'm not. and I gave myself a puppy for my birthday almost three years ago :). you've seen a pic of him on my blog. he's a hound mutt - best guess is beagle and red bone coonhound. he's about 35 pounds of pure mushy adorableness (interspersed with extreme athleticism and I could only DREAM of being as fast as him someday).

The Costco trail mix is amazing. I always pick out the m&ms and cashews. It's my week to bring snacks to the teacher lounge, and I got brought that trail mix because no one can resist it!!!

When you mentioned Billy had to store your b-day present at someone else's house the first thing I thought was that it had to be something living. Like a puppy...or a baby. I hope it's not a baby. That could get awkward.

Oh I so hope you get a fluffy white puppy...it will be your best bday ever cause they are the best!!
Ok, you look so perfect in every picture!! Your gorgeous girl!
I agree...I dont want to know about the bachelor either...Its my favorite show on TV hahahahah
Hope you have a great day tomorrow!!
