And you thought I died........

******I don't know what I did wrong in life but no running and 24 hours of no blogging (especially after this post, oh wait I can't link my addiction to blogging post because they deleted it, boo)........I seriously didn't know what to do with my life.  It hurt.  Blogger was having issues and down all day long, don't worry...I wrote them my fair share of hate mail and refreshed blogger at least 3,495,499,99 times.  I ate a lot of chocolate to get through this tough time and now it is back and I feel better than ever.

So, here is the post that I meant to post yesterday afternoon....enjoy!!!!

As I was eating my delicious pb/banana toast I was remembering the fact that as a kid I HATED peanut butter, with a passion (unless it was covered with chocolate and given to me in the shape of an Easter egg).

It made me remember the foods that I hated as a kid and now I could not live without them..........

*******You may ask why I didn't like these foods and the simple answer is that my sister didn't.  Yep, and 99% of these foods she still doesn't like and wouldn't come within five feet of them.  No joke, she doesn't like peanut butter to this day.  Do not fret, I eat enough for her and her family and probably the next four generations of her family.  Once my brain fully developed (still working on that one) and I tried them for myself I realized that they are the most delicious things in the world.

I thought you might like a picture of me chomping away on my breakfast.  You are welcome.  Note to self:  Maybe I should go to a manners class to learn how to eat in a way that does not resemble a cows method of chewing.

Hot Dogs.  I thought they looked like rubber as a kid and now I LOVE going with Billy to J-dawgs (okay, so it has to be a specialty hot dog, not just any ordinary hot dog and it has to have more toppings than can actually fit in the buns.  Oh and the buns have to be super soft and fluffy).
IMG 1443

If you have read my blog for at least 2 days you know that I have a strange love for broccoli, almost a love affair with the stuff.  As a kid, I HATED it.......can't blame my sis for this one but I can blame my lovely mother.  She still won't go near it and gets mad at me when I stink up the house and roast it with 14 cloves of garlic.

Now I get broccoli for Christmas presents from the in-laws.....okay, it is a long story but you can read about it here.
IMG 3157

I know you aren't going to believe this one but once again I blame the gorgeous sissy of mine.......I didn't like fish!!! Technically, I didn't ever try ANY until I was a teenager and instantly fell in love with all things fish.....salmon, tilapia, coconut encrusted tilapia, fish sticks, tuna, sushi, sashimi....you name it, I will eat it (except cat fish is just wrong on the tastebuds).  I never claimed to be normal and the best restaurants in the world involve eating with your hands and require a bib.
IMG 3323

Please note the red mark on my neck is not actually sauce splattered but a zit that refuses to go away for longer than 24 hours...there must be a sweat gland or something right there.

I also hated tomatoes and one time when a sibling was babysitting (I won't mention any names here) they made me stay at the table until I ate them all and the gushing of the cherry tomatoes made me sick.   Now as an adult (if you can call me that) I could eat one like an apple.
The End 29

And for the grand finale......the only food that I didn't like as a kid that I still despise with every fiber of my being.....
IMG 3531

OLIVES.  This picture of my niece eating four at a time actually makes me a little queasy.

If one even touches my Subway sandwich I will ask for a new one......once the flavor has been absorbed into anything else I am eating, it is ruined.  I don't get very hot-headed about many things but this one I know for sure- olives, stay far away from me.

One thing that I loved as a child, loved ever since and will always have a not-so-secret obsession for is CANDY!!!!

What foods did you hate as a kid? Why did you hate it? Have you grown to love them know?

You probably think this is awkward that I am posting a comment on my own blog but I was just making sure the comments work and no one had commented for a while so I decided to make myself feel cooler and tell myself how awesome I am.

I am EXACTLY the same way about olives. Dear Lord I hate them. I hated tomatoes as a kid but love them now, in all forms. I wasn't always sold on beans in general either, but I chow on them now. As far as losing blog posts, I feel your pain. At least I know I wasn't the only one.

I always said that I hated pizza and peanut butter. Pizza because my brother loved it and always wanted to go to Pizza Hut on family nights out. I figured by hating pizza that he couldn't get what he wanted. Yeah, I won sister of the year. In my defense, though, he broke/bent my hula hoop.

As far as PB, I just remember disliking PB&J sammies that my baby-sitter made. I think I rejected them so I could have cream cheese and jelly.

Gosh, I was a brat!

If you ever have a surplus of broccoliciousness that you can't keep up with- send it to georgia; I never have enough! (;

Happy healing! xo

Ugh do not get me started on Blogger. It made me so mad today!! But all is well with the world again, as long as it stays up!

I actually HATE hot dogs. They remind me of my years in day care, when that was the only thing they fed us.

Today, the only form I can stomach them in is corn dogs. Now those are delicious :)

I also hated dark chocolate and running when I was younger. What was wrong with me??

i HATE olives, and my husband's family LOVES them, they put them on erething! bah! i'll allow them on my pizza but only if i'm distracted by tons of delicious meat and cheese. it's funny that you say broccoli, as a kid i wouldn't go near it but then i ate at a friend's house and her dad made this delicious broccoli and cheddar omlette and since then i crave the stuff. i CANT BELIEVE BLOGGER WAS DOWN SO LONG! it felt like i was mentally starving. also, i told myself i would NEVER eat sushi when i was a child and then two years ago for the first time EVER i tried it and now i am hooked baaad.

Um, I HATE olives. I tried to like one a few weeks ago, and just no. It was pretty sick nasty. I have always hated tomatoes but I am trying to learn to like them. I have made some steps towards improvement and now I can eat them if they have been cooked or are with something else (aka pizza) but never raw or by themselves yet! Haha!

wow, and I thought I was weird for hating olives so much. It makes me so angry in a restaurant if I look at the salad description, scrutinize each ingredient, decide I like what I see then it comes out and OLIVES are on it. AAAAH. Hubby says just pick them off no big deal etc. but the flavor is everywhere.
When I was a kid I used to not like vegetables of any sort, except potatoes and peas for some reason. Now I love vegetables.

The only thing I really remember hating as a child was liver (still hate it) and tuna (still don't care for it). I used to hate peas, but I actually like peas now (only on salads though). My mom used to be really messy with how she served us kids our food, so the applesauce would run into the cottage cheese, and the cottage cheese would run into the pork chops, etc. ugh...I can't stand for my food to touch - still to this day it drives me crazy. I am known to take paper towels to make sure my food doesn't touch or run into each other. A little OCD, I know:)

The Great Blogger Blackout of 2011. One for the ages.

I'm actually the opposite. When I was little I would try anything at least once. I was up for eating anything and everything. Now that I've gotten older, I'm still up for trying anything. But I've become such a picky eater. I will eat olives, but only once they have been cut up. I don't eat red meat. I hate the texture of yogurt and cold cheese (but luckily my lactose intolerance covers that one up so I don't have to explain it).

i never have and never will like cucumbers or celery. people don't understand that one because "they have barely any taste", but I can absolutely tell if celery has even touched something.

Lucky me, I've never really met a food I didn't like! haha but I used to hate brussels sprouts. Stereotypical I know, but now I like them enough to eat them :) One thing I really don't like is Water Chestnuts...don't like the texture. One of my favorite meals is my aunt's seven layer salad but it has water chestnuts in it so I have to pick them all out and give them to my mom to eat. However, I HATEEEEE pimento cheese. Like I wouldn't think that if it had the word cheese in it that I would hate it...but I think pimento cheese looks and tastes like barf. haha you're welcome for that description.

There are a lot of foods I hated as a kid that I like now. I was the oldest, so I can't blame siblings, and I love everything my mom hates (like strawberries and chocolate...sometimes I think we're not related;), so I can't blame her, either. I guess just growing taste buds? A few I can think of are tomatoes (used to HATE them), hummus, beans...I think there are more but I can't remember. Now I love all of those things! And I used to LOVE olives as a kid (I think because my dad ate them all the time), but I think I ODed on them because now I hate them, too!

I went from eating the chocolate peanut butter variety and then added peanut butter to my baked goods. I could deal with that, eventually, but plain, NO WAY! I now add it to smoothies, and really only eat it when it melts on hot toast. I think it's the texture that bothers me the most, so if it's mixed into something or it's melted a bit, I can eat it!

I also really hate olives, too. I try cooking with it and then not eating them but I just can't do it. Same with mushrooms.
And I'm sorry to say, but I don't like raw tomatoes. I can eat, like, one slice or a few cherry that are dipped in a lot of dressing but that's it.

I'm with you on the sibling situation. Also with friends who told me something was gross, I would rethink my enjoyment for it and quickly decide it was in fact not very tastey. When something sounded weird or it was a known fact that most people didn't like it (spam, anchovies, etc.) I would say I hated it even if I never tried it... I still do that sometimes.

I hated eggs as a kid (especially runny ones), now I love them. I think the texture grossed me out. And potato pancakes, but I still to this day cannot stand them - very rare for me these days. I'll eat pretty much anything if it's prepared well.

I always LOVED all fish though, even when I was little.

Oh my god I was the fussiest eater EVER as a kid. I basically lived on only white foods - white bread, rice, plain pasta, butter, and potatoes.

Now i eat EVERYTHING. And some of my favourite foods are my most hated from childhood - broccoli, brussels sprouts... basically all veggies actually, OLIVES (sorry :p), garlic, every fruit ever, anything grainy/wholewheaty/seedy, black rye bread, suuuuuper strong/sharp cheese.
NOTHING is safe around me any more :)
