Kissing My Quad

You are never going to believe me when I tell you this (I am still in shock) but the Physical Therapist is having me do an hour of cycling this morning followed by 30 MINUTES OF RUNNING (5 minutes run, 1 minute walk, repeat).  I am experiencing a mixture of emotions:  thrilled, nervous, scared, blessed and lucky:)

I might have to sneak in another morning post to tell you I survived.

IMG 5156

Don't judge me for kissing my quadricep in thankfulness for it finally getting better.

My secret for making dinner.  Pick a protein, fats, some carbs and veggies and then open up your fridge and put whatever you want on top of them.

IMG 5160

I took a chicken breast and covered it with taco seasoning and pan fried it in a lil' olive oil.  After the chicken was cooked I threw some cheese on and topped it with salsa.  I actually applauded myself after each bite, it was that good.  I had some roasted BROC and a baked potato on the side.

Dang, I have filled my body with enough delicious nutrients, I think that it is time to finish the night with a wee bit of leftover homemade ice cream. Gotta carb load for THIRTY minutes of running:)

P.S. I have some awesomely exciting ridiculously happily news to share with you later today.

Hope you are having an amazing Tuesday and thanks for being my best friend:)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mild, Medium or HOT salsa?

-All of the above....the chunkier the better in my book.

What is your favorite way to cook chicken?  Favorite chicken seasonings and toppings?

-I LOVE bbq grilled chicken and also 'shake and bake'....I am ghetto.

What are you most thankful for today?

-My quad deciding to finally listen to me and start to get back to it's good ol' self:)

What books are you reading right now.....It is Spring Break next week and I will be TRAVELING and I am in need of a good book to read:)

Good luck!... Mild salsa. I don't mind spicy, but I don't like when it overpowers the flavors of the food it's with... I don't eat chicken, so I'll talk about fish. Haha.I love grilled or pan seared fish with lemon and sometimes sweetened butter... I'm most thankful for my friends and family and peanut butter ('nuff said).

As for Boston, I go to school here / live here, and even though I'm not running the race, I'm going to try to partake in the festivities. Are there plans for a blogger meet up? That would be super duper fun!!!

YAY for getting to run!!!! hope it goes well for you!

I'm all about medium to hot for salsa. And the chunkier the better!

Right now, I'm super thankful for spring weather. There's nothing like 70 and sunny to make me want to go outside and play :)

Book recommendation...ooh..I LOVE The Help, by Kathryn Stockett. I just finished it a couple of weeks ago. FANTASTIC.

I'm sooo beyond thrilled for you!!! Best of luck and I'm keeping my finger's crossed!! I'll never forget the day I was able to run more than a few minutes after returning from an injury. I know you won't either!

Definitely hot, chunky salsa. After living in Mexico, I can't have it any other way!

BBQ chicken or marinated overnight in italian dressing and herbs then baked, mmmm.

I'm so thankful the sun is going to come out today!

Book I'd recommend is Born to Run (if you haven't already read it).

Awe! Good luck Janae!

If I want to down a ton of salsa, Mild. Otherwise, Medium :)

Chicken and I are basically best buds. I eat it pretty much every night. I loved switchin it up, but right now my favorite is Italian Seasoning sprinkled on top and then cooking it in a pan!

Today, I am thankful for life. Its a bittersweet one over here for me because its the 4 year anniversary of loosing a close family member.

Hmmm.. Good books. I have read Water For Elephants, and I just finished The Notebook (Great as a book!)

Yay for running! I remember the first little short run I could do after coming back from an injury and I was crying on the treadmill at the Y the whole time because I had missed it so much.

I'm all for medium salsa...a little heat, but not too much. Thankful today for my friends!

Yay for Running!
Mild Salsa...I can't do the real spicy stuff, weak stomach :-(
I typically pan fry chicken or bake it and put whatever seasoning sound good at that time, your chicken dish sounds super yummy, may have to try that sometime!
I am mostly thankful to have a job and have clothes on my back and a roof over my head, sometimes we take those things for granted and right now I'm super thankful!
I am currently reading L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad, 3 book series, pretty good, kind of like Sex and the City.

Great news! Can't wait to hear how the 30 minutes turn out :)

I'm thankful for FINALLY feeling good after several down weeks.

Is the good news that you're moving to Philly for law school? I hear that they're building a giant mormon temple in the area! :) (http://whyy.org/cms/news/government-politics/2010/05/13/new-details-on-philadelphia-mormon-temple/38052)

Salsa has to be suuuuper hot and chunkyy!!

if you want to have a good laugh, read A Year in the Merde by Stephen Clarke. It's about the cultural differences between the British and the French and it's soooo funny!

YAY for getting to run! How exciting for you. I can't wait to hear how it goes. :). In a hot salsa kind of girl, and love to season chicken with Italian dressing and lots of red pepper flakes. And, today I'm thankful for my body. After 8 months or so of shin splints, I'm thankful that running is fun again and no longer horrendously painful. :)

Mild salsa--I'm a wuss!:)

My favorite way to cook chicken is in the crockpot with some BBQ or with salsa/corn for fiesta chicken (http://untilyoutri.wordpress.com/favorite-recipes/crock-pot-fiesta-chicken/)...becuase that's easy to cook, my favorite way to EAT chicken might be chicken parm...yum!

Some book recommendations: I'm Down: a Memoir by Mishna Wolff(she's super funny like you!), and Losing My Faculties: A Teacher's Story by Brendan Halpin (you can probably relate to this since you are a teacher!)

Yes, yes, YES to chunky salsa! If you have a Trader Joe's near you (?), check out their peach salsa - it is so different but so amazing.

Hmm, not sure on the chicken front - I like chicken a LOT of different ways.

Thankful for some free time at work to catch up on blogs :)

Reading "The Red Tent" right now and not really enjoying it at all, but I want to finish it and be done. You've probably already read this, but I bet you would love "Personal Record: A Love Affair with Running" by Rachel Toor. On a non-running front, I found "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson to be totally inspirational. And if you want something light and fluffy, Emily Giffin's books are always fun.
