Just a Sliver

I am a sliveraholic.  Whether it is brownies, bread, donuts, cookies or cake I devour at least 4 serving sizes just from the slivers that I cut off.

For some reason I think that by cutting and munching on 4 hundred small pieces of the above mentioned baked goods it does not equal 1 normal sized piece and therefore it is good for me and I am not taking in absurd amounts of sugar:)  Yes, I know that was a very well constructed sentence.   I never make grammar errors on the blog.

IMG_4691.jpg'

I was caught red-handed....or I guess orange-handed due to not washing off all of the self tanner on my palms.

Dinner tonight was with our besties Allison and Alex (my running coach and running idol).

IMG_4690.JPG

We brought over chicken tacos, black beans and mexican rice.  I have lately been obsessed with sour cream........it makes the taco.  We did forget the guacamole.  I learned my lesson and will never do that again, you have my word.

IMG_4693.JPG

And since I only had 12 slivers (1/4 of the pan) of brownie I had to finish the night off with a whole one and some vanilla bean ice cream.

Back to work today......ps did you know that hulu has a time limit on how much you can watch at one time.  I am that cool person that over spring break received the message, "you've sure been watching for a long time, would you like a break?"  I guess I can't spend everyday running ridiculous distances, watching hours of chopped on hulu and going on a date with my mom. Back to real life.

Speed work Monday......800 meter yasso's after school.  Bring it on track workout.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Don't forget to e-mail me @ janaenicole_426@hotmail.com a race photo or awesome post run/workout photo for me to LINK you on a post to help motivate each other to get out there and run our little hearts out!!!  And for bragging rights:)

--------------------------------------------------------------

Are you a sliveraholic?  Do you keep cutting off little pieces until next thing you know it and the pan is empty?

-Guilty as charged.

Less than 12 hours until we know who Brad chooses on the Bachelorette!! Are you team Emily or team Chantel?

-Team Emily.

Do you watch Hulu?

-Religiously.  Remember we are on a teacher's salary and Billy is in school........cable is not an option.

I am also on team Emily!
I watch hulu sometimes, but my internet is slow so it freezes up a lot!!

Can't wait to hear about your track workout! Have a great day!

I don't do slivers, I just go for it. :)

We are seriously considering cancelling our cable because it's so crazy expensive. We think we could live with hulu and netflix...we'll see after this month's bill.

Your dinner makes me want to make mexican for dinner tonight!

I almost forgot the Bachelor finale is tonight - wahoo!! Good luck with your track work today! I know you'll be super speedy. Billy and I watch hulu all the time - he has some way to hook his laptop up to our TV and we watch old episodes of all of our favorite shows! Happy Monday, my love!

Hi. My name is BHF, and I am a sliverholic.

I have slivers before and after breakfast (since, as you rightly wrote, breakfast isn't a dessert meal). And basically, whenever the kids aren't going to catch me I sneak another.

You are crazy. I love slivers and that is exactly what we ate last night except we had guac and used plain high protein yogurt instead of sour cream. It tastes exactly the same but is loaded w protein. My beans were homemade, refried. . We eat lots of beans in AR. Love to you!!!

No, I just go for the whole cookie/donut, but I will cut cookie/donut #2 I half. Is that a sliver? :)

I don't have a TV so I watch The Bachelor on Hulu. Ughhhh I won't see the finale until it's posted tomorrow!!

I am so bad at cutting off slivers! So bad that since I've given up sweets for Lent I will not let myself make brownies for anyone else. I don't think I have enough willpower to keep it away from my mouth. :D

yep, love Hulu. We are on a teachers salary too- no cable. :) I am SO excited for teh Bachelorette finale tonight but can’t watch it because of the no cable issue!!! Ah, I have to wait until tomorrow and catch it on Hulu, which means I have to stay off Facebook and twitter tonight so I don’t see any spoilers. I might die.

Haha! I'm a sliverholic and I didn't even know it. If you cut smaller pieces, it's smaller calories right? I'm sticking to that and I don't care if I'm wrong.

I'm not a Bachelor fan :(. Maybe it's because my friend's hubby works on the show and tells us how CRAY CRAY these people are. haha

At March 14, 2011 at 9:22 AM , Blogger Unknown said...

Just a sliver... If I had a penny for every time I said that (and then proceeded to eat half the cake)...I would be RICH.

We also do not have cable (or a TV for that matter) so Hulu it is! I am obsessed. Have you watched Parks & Recreation? Hilarious.

I don't have tv either, therefore hulu is a lifesaver! My mom's favorite phrase is "a french woman's taste" because supposedly they have small portions. that is thrown out the window when we have 5 french woman's tastes!

Sliverholic. HAHAH. I didn't know I had a condition. But I am guilty as charged.

Please Emily for the sake of her heart not getting crushed, but I am feeling like he is going to pick Chantel, because they NEVER pick the right one!

We haven't watched Hulu for awhile but we did watch all six seasons of Lost on it! I love it!

I'm totally a sliver-stealer. And edges, of anything, too. I have a theory, that slivers, edges, and anything you grab and eat while walking by have zero calories!

I don't watch the Bachelor.. I watched the season with Andrew Firestone but that was it :(

I. LOVE. HULU!! I'm totally addicted to Netflix streaming and NatGeo documentaries, though.. no cable here either!

mmmm I have been eating mexican food for like the past 14 days straight....Me and my crazy weird food kicks. I totally eat slivers all day and then still have an extra large peice with everyone else.

I am obsessed with cable and to illiterate to understand hulu. Plus I'm not sure Hulu would feed my obsessive basketball obsession.

Have a fabulous day!!

No Hulu, but love Netflix.

I'm horrible with the slivers- rice krispy treats are my weakness. Not only do I attempt justification with the sliver size, but the "rice krispies aren't bad for you" rationale that completely neglects the presence of butter and marshamallows.

You're too funny. I too am guilty of the sliver addication to desserts. In my family a sliver is known as the "Brittany piece" because I never fail to eat 8 million transparent pieces of cake in place of one large piece.

We're lucky enough to have cable included in our rent. (And internet too!) So we don't watch hulu. I do sometimes catch up on Glee and vampire diaries online though.

Good luck with the yassos... my legs are pretty sore, i forgot my foam roller at home, and really wished i had it yesterday after my 15 miler. :/

This made me smile so much. My grandma (who has passed away) always ate silvers around the edges of her cakes and brownies, and would bring the pan to family gatherings with a few little pieces missing around the edge. I hadn't thought about that in a long time - thank you for sharing and bringing back such a happy memory.

Bahahaha I love the totally maniacal look on your face with that pan of brownies. I'm a notorious sliver-er! On Christmas night, following a MASSIVE day of feasting, I managed to eat an entire family-sized Christmas cake all on my own... purely by the little tiny pieces I kept 'tasting'.

Same goes for tubs of ice cream, bars of chocolate, bags of candy, chips and boxes of cereal. They all disappear in a flash and I have no idea where they went because 'I JUST TRIED A LITTLE, I SWEAR!' hahaha

You are a woman after my own heart, Janae :p we totally need to get some kind of international candy swap happening!!
