3 Course Dinner and I think I like Under Armour

I had a cousin date tonight.  This girl is a rockstar. She is taking 18 credits, works 18 hours a week, runs, averages 12 dates a week and still manages to hang out with her best friend....that's me if you didn't get it.

I met her on campus at BYU, my old stomping grounds, and it was so fun to remember the good ol' days.

We look a lot, is there something your not telling me?

She treated me to round 1 of dinner.  Jamba smoothie with granola.

After we drank our smoothie we were freezing.  Naturally, we walked to the other side of the food court and got hot chocolate.  Why do they put candy by the cash register.  It is like they are forcing you to salivate and crave the sugary goodness while you are waiting in line.  Marketers are out to get me and give me diabetes.

I came home and Billster took me to get some cold running weather gear.  I am taking my running outside this morning.  Billy set up for me to run with one of his best buddies.  2:25 marathoner and runs a 4:19 mile.  I am scared for my life.  Literally, I am scared.  We don't get stronger unless we challenge ourselves and do things that scare us.  Like running in freezing temperatures in a dark canyon with a white kenyan.

Billy is dropping us off @ 6 a.m. fifteen miles up a canyon and we are running back to our house.  I will do a few miles of hills (hopefully, if I am still alive) on the treadmill when I get back. I am scoring big time.....hours of running training and technique from an elite athlete, don't mind if I do.

What do you think of the gear? The pink shirt has made its appearance many times on the blog but the other stuff is new since I never run out in the cold I decided I need to suck it up and do it once in a while.

The third course of dinner was a meal for champions, or a five year old.  Chocolate milk with a scoop of glutamine and a pb/banana panini.

Early bed time, I needed to prepare for a booty whipping.

No SCHOOL!! The rest of the day will be spent eating, reading and catching up on hulu!!!

Are you close with your cousins? How many do you have

-Yep:) 19.

Do you run with other people?

-Nope, but I am thinking that by training with stronger/better runners I am going to see some major improvements.

Do you have Monday off from work?

-4 day weekend, the joys of being a teacher.

Favorite Jamba/smoothie?

-I got the All Fruit Five Fruit Frenzy and it was heaven.  I used to work at a smoothie place in high school and I can make a mean smoothie.

GO YOU GIRL!!!! I thought it was hilarious that you called him a white kenyan. You're going to rock it!! Enjoy your 4 day weekend. We have a 3 day weekend, and Im going to visit my best friend on Monday! Super excited for a girls' day!!

I wish I had today off too! I get Monday off though (perks of a teacher of course) and I am so looking forward to it. Why do you get today off as well? (just curious)

Good luck on your run tomorrow!

One last question...I probably missed where you explained it but you mentioned (maybe once or twice :D) that you want to run a sub 3 hour marathon to qualify for the Olympics. Does that mean you really want to run the 2012 London Olympics marathon? Because it would be super cool to watch and say...hey, I know that girl!

sounds like a challenging run this morning, good luck!!
Unfortunately none of my 9 cousins live near me, but we're close on FB if that counts?!?! LOL
My hubby has Monday off work, so I guess that means so do I. :)
I've heard it should be illegal, but I've never been to Jamba.

I like your running gear :)
I have cousins and I am close to two of them. I have a total of 10.
I don't run with other people. I've done a post today on my blog as to why I run and exercise alone.
My favorite smoothie is anything banana or strawberry related :)

White Kenyans. There is an elite runner that lives near me that always wins the road races and my dad feels the need to tell him in every race hurryy the Kenyans are coming.

There is nothing wrong with 5 year old meals. Obviously why I add ketchup to everything.

I love four day weekends! Though soon, I will be unemployed and have lots of days off! Haha.

I love UnderArmour gear. Haha. Girl, you are going to rock that run. Doesn't that canyon know who you are?! I can't wait to hear about it!! :)

I run with other people sometimes, but not usually. I'll be running with my bestie when I get home, though, and Shane runs with me, too. Though he has to slow down a million mph. If we ran at his pace, I'd make it like 100 meters. Haha. You should check out my giveaway! It's my first one, and I'm like a kid at her first day o school... Nervous and excited. Haha. I'm such a dork.

I love training with better runners. Shows you how they train and it is a chance to learn something, plus you sometimes have to hang on for your life. Funny thing it, lots of faster people run easy enough on easy days to keep up with them. It is the workouts where they show you who's the boss.

Did you see Miles Batty on campus? He just popped a HUGE mile last weekend!

Omg I love my cousins, I have a million I am not even going to try to count, we are all best friends basically. Why are you two so gorgeous!! Slash I am commenting on this via my droid walking down the hallway to class and a lady just told me "don't fall in the fountain" and I thought you should know...I have my confused face on right now there is no fountain at my school? Hahaha I love silly people.

I will be running with my dad every day on our trip to DC this weekend, he is a marathoner and hard core, I am super nervous but I love running with my dad, we chat about anything and everything I love him:)

I love my UA gear- it is stupid expensive but lasts for EVAH.
Have a great run- wish I had a Kenyan running buddy!
I actually have Monday more or less "off" but have to go to Boston (a fun trip though!)
No Jamba around here- I live in the sticks...

Under Armour is my favorite for running gear!

I have a ton of cousins, but they are all scattered on the opposite side of the country so I haven't seen any of them in a while, but we are having a giant family reunion in NC this summer so I can see everyone!

I run with other people occationally, but most of the time it's alone because people think my mileage is crazy :( I'm so alone.

At February 18, 2011 at 6:27 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I have off Monday too, so excited! Good luck with the kenyan style run. I love Jamba's strawbery surfrider and underarmor too.

Cousins are wonderful! My bestie is in Korea currently with the hubby/Army.

I don't run with other people, it's my "me" time and time to lose myself in my own thoughts. I occasionally run with the BF but he's a bit slower ;)

I don't work but I do have Monday-not-so-fun-day (9-7) off from school! This last semester is wearing me out.

I've never had a Jamba, but I do enjoy strawberry-banana-lemonade smoothies. I'd much rather have a PB&Banana and Chocolate Milk though. Through college our soccer coach used to make us drink a cup of chocolate milk before going into the locker room after games! It is a great recovery drink!

Good luck running in the cold. In December I ran outside when it was 14 degrees. My eyelashes had mini icicles on them. It was so fun though. Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are the best. I eat one almost everyday for lunch. one of my work friends looked at me and said "Are you ever going to get sick of eating that?" :)
I have a said you put glutamine in your chocolate milk, what do you use that for?
Love your posts! Keep it up! Great job running!

that is so awesome that you are running with a crazy white kenyan!! :) you're so lucky to have that great opportunity, i agree that it will only strengthen you as a runner! hope its going great!

i run a lot outside in the winter (except this winter bc its been crazy ice everywhere) and i love under armor stuff. its the best!

most of my friends don't like to run. which is super depressing for me, how could you not like running?? i have a few friends that run and we sometimes run together, but i need to make friends with some fast people that will push me harder!

i have monday off! sooo excited! and i loooove jamba juice but we don't have them in new england, so whenever i'm out on the west coast i get JJ smoothies like every day.

At February 18, 2011 at 6:58 AM , Anonymous katie said...

good luck on the run! (or maybe your already done? I don't really know with the time difference...) I think its great your trying to get more miles in outside as Boston can be chilly even in april! I've been training up in vermont for a few months now and after running in 4 degrees a few days ago I decided I no longer have any weather excuse.. it just takes some good gear and a tough attitude, which you now have both of! enjoy your long weekend :)

Good luck & have fun! Just think of the chocolate milk & candy you have when you get back. I love my cousins - my 1st cousins are all older than me, so I get to hangout with them and their adorable kids.

I just tried the Strawberry Vivanno smoothie from Starbucks last week, and I think I have a new favorite :)

HOORAY for Monday off! I'm super jealous you have today off!! And any Jamba Juice smoothie is my fav. My all time favorite is Caribbean Passion!!! YUM :-)

I had one of my cousins as my maid of honor in my wedding. :-) I have a lot of cousins. I'd give you a number but I am too lazy to count. and I have a large family due to divorces, re-marriages, adoptions and it could turn into a book of a response.

The only person I run regularly with is my dad and it's usually a race, trail running or our long runs. He's the one that got me into running! I will run with the husband once in a while and may run with a girl friend once in a while. but usually I like to run on my own.

I don't have Monday off and never had Jamba Juice.

I do not run with people, dont thnk there are anyone that slow to put up with me, but I bike with faster people, and, yes, I will verify that training with faster people will make you faster, especially if they are the type (like the type I ride with) if you slow down, we wont, so you either have to remain fast or be by yourself

Wow you are going to rock that run, that is awesome that you get to train with a pro! How cold is it there? That will be great to get you ready to meet your goal at Boston! I started training with a running group last summer and it has made such a huge difference. Long runs fly by with all the chatting, and I think it helps me get faster because I push myself to stay with my friends that are just slightly faster. Plus we alternate, if they are having a bad day, I can pump them up, and vice versa. It's unlikely we'll all have a bad day at the same time. Good luck tomorrow!

We have been off of work since yesterday so I have a 5 day weekend, I love the teaching schedule for that reason alone! Summers are great too, especially since I have kiddos. I lover underamour tights, but i think my new favorite cold gear stuff is the Nike Combat line. Its phenomenal. And the tops get that balance of being warm and breatheable right. Granted Seattle isn't as cold as Utah, but it's been in the 30s and low 40s lately.

We sadly do not get work off on Monday :( I forgot it was president's day or something.

I run with other people about once a week at Sunday Brunch Runs. I really enjoy running by myself, but i agree that having someone kick my butt up to another gear is really great.

Holy cow! I'd be terrified to run with that machine. I thought you were the fastest person alive! You mean to tell there is someone faster than Janae? :)

I am from Alaska and my running is typically outside in the snow so we have a lot of the same gear!! Very cute BTW!!
I wish I had Monday off, unfortunately the University thinks that as a college student we don't need any days off. lol
Running with other people is the bomb diggity, I mean you have someone there to push you (and to compete with ;) so it makes for a much more interesting run!
Hope you had a blast running with superman!

I seriously cannot wait to hear about your run with this guy! hahaha I'm sure he totally kicked butt and you were right there with him!

JAMBA JUICE IS MY LOVE. Oh my word that stuff is a complete meal- I have no idea how you had hot chocolate, candy, AND round 3 after that! Probably just cause you're freakin' hard. That's how it goes down.

I love how you present your fitness, yet show that it's OK to grub once in a while (saw that chic fil-a shake...yum)

I think it's great you got to run w/the white Kenyon (LOL) marathoner. It's good to challenge yourself in fitness. I have a friend who I want to run with, want to....TBD

hahaha!! Love the elegant 3 course meal!! OH, Jamba Juice, how I miss you!!!

So, you can make any gear look good--I love all the under armour coordination!! So legit! Here is the deal, some name brand is going to be sponsoring you after Boston, so the pink mock will have plenty of friends! Billy may have to wear it b/c you will have so many other options!

ya'll are too cute! :-)

I have no idea how many cousins I have, but it's a ton. My dad is the youngest of 9, so they are all way older than me. Some of their kids are my age though, lol!

Too many cousins to count and they all live far away :(

I run alone and I kind of like it that way.

Yes, I have Monday off :) My favorite Jamba juice is definitely the Mega Mango.

Those sour patch kids look so good, I didn't know they made watermelon flavor...yum!

That pinini looks delish!!

Love your cold weather outfit!

I have a lot of cousins but not very close to them all.

I rarely run with others but would love to! I want to run with someone faster than me so I can push myself a little more. It's harder for me to push my pace if I'm running alone.

I'm not working right now cause I moved to a different state, so yes I have Monday off :)

I am not really close to my cousins. They all live far away. I have 8 cousins. 7 boys and a girl!

I don't run with others often but I wish I could more! I need to find more local running buddies!

Yes, I had yesterday off and it was wonderful!!
