Food Guide Pyramid

Janae's interpretation of the Food Guide Pyramid for dinner last night:

Grains: Toast (not pictured)

Veggies: Spinach, broccoli and tomatoes.

Fruits: Grapes, Oranges, Strawberries and Limes (in the form of skittles)

Protein: Tuna and black beans.

Dairy: More chocolate milk.

Fats: More avocado than you thought possible to eat in one sitting.

One complete and balanced meal in my weird little brain.

IMG_4126.JPG

I was a little grumpy pants after school yesterday until I got those legs pumping again at spin and then all was right again in the world.  I think Billy would pay big bucks for a little jar of endorphin pills to give me every time I go a few hours without exercise.

Spin Playlist:

1. More by Usher: Warm-up

2. Who Dat Girl by Akon: Jumps

3. We R Who We R by Kei$ha: Isolations

4. Rockateer by Far East Movement: Dancing

5. Bleed America by Jimmy Eat World: Sprints

6. Sweetest Girl by Akon: Hill climb in the saddle

7. Perfect by Pink: Hill climb out of the saddle

8. Born This Way by Lady Gaga: Dancing/partying it up

9. Double Vision by 3oh!: More Sprinting

10. Love The Way You Lie by Eminem and Rhiana: Crank that tension

11. Teenage Dream by Katy Perry: Jumps

12. RIght Round by Flo RIda: High tension isolations

13. Yeah 3X by Chris Brown: Superman's and dancing

14. All I Ever Wanted Base Hunters: Combo of everything

15. Marry Me by Train: Cooldown.  Um, cutest song in the world.

PIXIE sent me the cutest PURPLE workout shirt and so I decided to show off my guns for you.  You better believe I kiss those suckers every day....

Do not be concerned, I am not sick, my skin is normally that pale, fake tanner is too expensive to use anywhere but my face:) Maybe I should move the treadmill outside, that would be funny to see someone running on a treadmill outside right next to the sidewalk.  My next goal will be a marathon on my treadmill outside.

IMG_4121.jpg

For those of you that come to my Thursday 6 a.m. spin class and I am in the same outfit as my Wednesday night spin class, I am saying in advance I am embarrassed but you have to understand how lazy I am, heaven forbid I take an extra shower.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you ever wear the same workout clothes two workouts in a row.

-I am gross and I do for my two spin classes in a row.

Where do you buy your workout clothes from?

-Target for sports bra's, nike outlet for shorts and Runner's Corner for shorts and tops:)

What is your favorite workout song right now?

-Who Dat Girl is really fun to run to!

Do you try to balance your meals with the food guide pyramid?

Do I ever where the same workout clothes!!! HA!!! A big fat YES!! :) Hehe ... I am really bad, I don't even want to confess it, but I have like no running clothes!! I rotate the same 3-4 tanks with two different shorts...its disgusting! I don't mind, I mean I stink, but that's the way I'm supposed to smell anyways...except for maybe the first few minutes of a run. My hubby is ready to invest in getting me some new stuff, I'm in no rush :) I like feeling like a just worked out :)

Have a great day Lady!!

Outside treadmill marathon. You would get no looks with that one! My husband hung me a gigantuous mirror right next to my treadmill so I would have some company since I have literally NO running friends. I am thinking hanging some overhead ultraviolet lights might just complete my little setup. Like a real outdoor race (except perhaps I would get sunburn in my scalp and I would never beat the girl next to me.....)

Outerlayer outdoor stuff I wear more than once. The other stuff, saturated.....I wear a lot of Brooks because of the Brooks ID but Target sports bras, Nike and Underarmour grab a lot of my cash too. I order a lot from runningwarehouse.

Who Dat girl, I Need a Doctor, Hit the Lights, Super Bass, More, and Words I never said on the playlist this morning!

Have a great day:)

I will wear the same thing when I teach two classes back to back, I am not going to make any extra laundry for myself :) I buy my workout clothes from the nike outlet and try to find great nike deals at TJ Maxx and Marshalls too!

My absolute fav song to work out to right now is "My first kiss"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYC2FUutdKA

And I never think about the pyramid, I just try to balance what I eat to properly fuel my body for running!

So...I have a random ? for you--I've been doing my marathon training on the treadmill because I live in New England and we still have like 100 billion inches of snow and ice on the ground. I've been doing it at an incline of 1%, do you think that is sufficient to mimic running outside? I have read conflicting things.

At February 17, 2011 at 6:04 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

yea fiesta style salad! :)

I do wear my vibrams on the treadmill, but just breakin' um in- they are rubbling against the back of my ankle and that HURTS.
I am heel striking, but trying to mix it up to find a new comfortable/ normal way to run and plant my foot. My foot itself is def. getting a workout though, which is a completely weird experience!

I would LOVE to move my treadmill outside!! I would put it under a canopy for shade and rain protection and be surrounded by trees...thats SUCH a good idea! Fav workout song now is coming home by diddy- I am slightly embarrassed to admit that for some reason.

I am guilty as charged :) I do wear the same workout clothes, and no, I am not ashamed.

My workout clothes mostly come from Target or department stores or online sales :)

I love your interpretation of the food guide pyramid. Sometimes I try to figure out how ice cream for dinner can fit into all of those categories.

I but most of my workout clothes from tjmaxx, an outlet, or any store thats having a great sale. gotta love a bargain!
and yes, i wear the same workout clothes, unless i totally destroyed them with lots of sweat the day before :)

You should probably release a new edition of the Food Guide specifically for speedy awesome runners. Your interpretation makes me hungry for second breakfast! :)

I have always wanted to have a treadmill in a sunroom. I honestly think it would be perfect - pace readouts, incline on command, water bottle and fuel handy and still sunny and beautiful :) I have neither of those things right now, but one day. Even better if the sunroom is in a house on the beach! My life goals are pretty lofty ;)

I have definitely reworn the same gym clothes. Sometimes doing a workout is just way more important than laundry, y'know? And I get my workout clothes from lulu and New Balance!

I can't wear my workout clothes twice in a row. Once, and they are drenched in sweat and still damp the next day. They go in the wash.

I buy my bras from Champion, cause I got boobies, and Target doesn't sell a good bra for me. I like to lock the girls in! I buy shorts and tops at Target, Dick's and Scheel's.

Double slash I don't wash my workout clothes, its fine and I eat a whole avocado in one sitting, so good:)

Yep, guilty, I will wear workout clothes twice in a row. I don't have a whole lot of workout clothes to begin with, though.

As far as shopping for workout clothes....I go wherever is cheapest. That reminds me...I need a new sports bra.

As far as workout songs go...I'm weird and I HAVE TO listen to gangsta rap. When I'm not working out I listen to classic rock almost exclusively (I love David Bowie sooooo much it's stupid), so it's weird that I listen to gangsta rap when I work out. Currently I like Roman's Revenge by Nikki Minaj and Eminem. It's full of foul language and filthy imagery, but it gets my mind to where it needs to be in order to kick my own butt.

In the winter I only have a few running outfits I like to keep me warm so I pretty much wear the same thing each day and just hang it up in between. The embarrassing thing is I run with a running group so they see me in the same outfit all the time. My favorite running stuff is underarmour, but if I can't make it to their outlet then I hit up stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, or Marshells for brand name stuff on the cheap. Anything from Glee works for me right now to workout to! I'm a vegetarian so I make sure i get lots of protein with my veggies so that I can stay awake.

Yeah..I have been doing a lot of downhill training, but not too much as a specific workout. I guess the temptation to go out fast on the downhill stretch at B is pretty good, and the legs take a toll whether it's fast or not.
I have gotten a few emails/comments from veterans that downhill is where the focus should be as it stresses the legs differently. It's hard to do on a TM with no downhill, but really, I think you are gonna be fine because of all the extra spin you do. quadzilla =D

I just pictured you running on a treadmill outside and it cracks me up.

In college, when laundry was expensive and tough to get to, I used to reuse my workout clothes a couple days in a row. I've since improved on my habits and I really only reuse shorts occationally.

I get most of my workout gear from the outlets near my house, under armour and champion are my favorites.

I used to wear workout clothes two times in a row, but that was when I only did the elliptical and it was on such a low setting that I never broke a sweat. ha ha
Most of my workout clothes are from the outlet stores (Champion, Under Armour) but I also have some stuff from Champion's Target line.
I do try to make sure that my meals are balanced and that I get enough veggies throughout the day. I also make sure that I have a tiny bit of fat (nuts w/ oatmeal, avocado on salad, flax seed in non-fat yogurt) with every meal because you need fat to absorb certain vitamins and nutrients.

First of all, you need to change the name of your blog to Skinny Runner Girl - you are soooo tiny!!

I get workout clothes from Target, Under Armour outlet store and a variety of online places. OMG, I sweat so hard during workouts, my clothes are drenched. I can imagine wearing them twice! Okay, maybe yoga or walking...
Food is my weakness area... I really need to concentrate on making it more "complete"

Great playlist - think I need to steal a couple of those for my ipod. My power song right now is "Let It Rock" Rudolf & Lil Wayne.

I definitely wear the same clothes for a couple... or few... workouts in a row. I consider it being eco-friendly, cuz that way I don't have to wash my clothes as often, thus conserving water.

Target is my go-to, and sometimes Wal-Mart. Heaven forbid I spend more than $10 on a pair of shorts, or more than a few bucks for a 4-pack of sports bras from Wal-Mart.

Um, I need new workout tunes... but I'm also too cheap to pay .99-1.30 for a song...

And I don't do my meals to the food guide pyramid. I think it'd be nice, but it doesn't happen.

I so can't get away with wearing workout clothes 2x! I sweat like a man, anything over 3 miles and my clothes are saturated. Yuck.

I buy clothes from Academy Sports and Dick's Sporting goods, clearance of course : )

My FAVORITE workout songs right now are:
Booty Bounce by Dev
and Bass Down Low by Cataracs ft. Dev
*great beats but lyrics are a little salty!

I try to balance out my day overall, as far as the food pyramid. My own personal rule is to get a carb serving I have to eat a protien serving. Otherwise I'd just eat cereal and bread all day!

I LOVE your blog : )

That meal looks completely balanced (and delicious) to me!

I love that top!!! It is so cute! Especially on you. It probably would not be as cute on me. I gained 2 lbs since the marathon 2 weeks ago. :( Sad face. See! Running really does allow me to eat anything I want! As soon as I have to stop running or run less, I gain weight. SO boo-ya to those people that say runners can't eat whatever they want. We can! :)

Hi Janae, This is my first time posting a comment but I wanted to tell you that I love your blog, I totally feel like I know you just from reading it. I am a fairly new runner and you are a huge inspiration, I can't wait for the day when I can run a marathon on a treadmill.

Yes to the wearing workout clothes 2 days in a row. Although the other day at the gym I realized I smelled really bad, I sweat soooo much when I run so I am gonna try not to do that so much.

I'm super cheap so i find a lot of stuff at thrift stores and sales. The only thing I spend a lot of money on is my shoes.

I love to listen to Nickelback and 3 Doors Down when I run.

I pay no attention to the food pyramid when I eat, I'm trying really hard to eat more veggies and protein otherwise I would live on carbs.

Okay...I'm so glad that there are other people out there who wear the same workout clothes, ha! I love reading your blog - you're so funny! :)

Cute top. When I started running in the mornings, and I'm not a morning person, I'd work out the night before, Yoga or elliptical, and then go to bed dirty so that I'd be forced to shower in the morning, so I might as well run too right?

It worked surprisingly well as motivation haha

I've started trolling thrift stores for workout clothes, and man, it's a gold mine. Which means that most of the time there's nothing, but occasionally there's something really awesome, like Lucy Capris for $4.99 or a pristine Lululemon sports bra for $2.49.

LOL!!! Running on a treadmill outside would be so funny.. I saw someone spinning outside once.. that was pretty funny.

I get my workout clothes pretty much everywhere. but mostly Lululemon now.. I work there tho.. so it only makes sense.

I am ghostly white all over, even my face, lol!

I do try to balance my meals, if not, I'd probably only eat oatmeal, pb, and chocolate.

I get my workout clothes from all over. Local running store sales, Academy, outlet malls (Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Saucony), Target, TJ Maxx. I buy whatever is cheap and I like. And I often wear things that dont match

I always wear workout clothes two days in a row - whoops.

My motto is, if it does not smell like a rotten egg, then there is no problem wearing it again! It would just mean more laundry to do if I didn't!

I try to keep my diet balanced with the food pyramid (emphasis on the word try!) But chocolate and pizza always seem to get the better of me!

Hahaha, this post cracked me up. I actually just thinking the other day, "Wow, it is kind of gross that I sweat in the same close more than once before I wash them. What if I came across the same people at the gym?? They would think I was so gross." Ohhhh, good times. :)

Ok, so it totally makes me feel like a celebrity when you leave comments on my blog. Because you are totally a blog celebrity. :) THANKS!

That salad looks delish! I get crabby too if I miss a run, so don't feel too bad. I can't reuse my gym clothes. I sweat so much it looks like I jumped into a pool!

Love the shirt! I can't wear the same clothes back to back . . . I sweat WAY to much! Maybe it's the Florida humidity, but I am gross! Like disgustingly gross.

K, well that's sorted then. I'll fly to Utah with a treadmill, you move YOUR treadmill outside, and we'll run together whilst munching on Skittles. Plan?

And don't even get me started on washing my workout clothes. It's called Nike Dri-Fit, and it's my excuse of choice:)

Girl, your guns ROCK! Sexy beast you!

I realized the other day that all of my workout gear is at least 10 years old... that's what happens when you take 8+ years off :P

You are so funny and I will pee my pants a little from laughing too hard if you put a treadmill outside and run a marathon. Please do it!

My fav workout gear is from lululemon.

Fav workout song is waaaaay too hard to choose. Hmmm at the moment I'm gonna say Hello by Martin Sloveig and Dragonette.

Dear Avocado,

I can't believe Janae and I never shared our love for you with each other. Nothing has ever tasted better. Keep doing your thing.

Dear Janae,

You make me miss running, I can't wait to get back to it. Although I will never win a race, in an avocado eating contest, I would dominate. Keep doing your thing. You're the greatest!

I have listened to Marry Me by Train EVERY morning for the last 3 weeks. I LOVE IT!!

I wished I lived in Utah and could come to your spin class. I miss it so much!

At first I thought there were yellow and purple skittles on your plate 'o' broccoli. I had a flashback to the movie Elf where he puts M&Ms on his spaghetti :) Oh, and I would add Peanut Butter to the fats category! I'd love to see someone running on a treadmill in their front lawn - ha!

Rewearing workout clothes? Guilty if I don't have a clean sports bra. I hate it though. I try to avoid it because I don't want my skin to break out.

Workout clothes: I loved Target's sports bras while I was barely running 1-2 miles. Then I realized that I needed more support...I just use them for spinning now. I have a couple Moving Comfort and Under Armour Sports bras. My running clothes are a lot of lululemon, a little Target, a little new balance, a pair of Nike winter tights, and very little Lucy. That Pixie Tank is super cute.

I don't think of the food pyramid (besides, didn't they reformat it to some stupid vertical lines?? that's not a pyramid anymore!!) I just try to eat many fruits and veggies (I shoot for at least 5 for the day), enough protein (65g+), and enough fiber (25g+).

ps, I tried to look up your Pixie tank and I found this bizarro website for pixie clothing...http://www.pixiepixie.com/

Can you please share if there's a website for where that tank came from!?

I wear the same thing to run in all the time especially in the winter. I only have a few pairs of under armour stuff so I need to reuse. It gets stinky but its alright - i usually run alone!

Oh my goodness, Girl, I totally have worn the same workout clothing twice. Usually, I console myself by saying, "I didn't really get that sweaty." I am gross!

I have been bumping to "Who Dat Girl?" on the 'mill too and I love it... (she ain't a rock star, but she got groupies...)

I never got the chance to wish you a Happy Birthday! I hope it was awesome and sweet just like you!
xoxo
