I accidentally ran a marathon plus 1.8 today

You thought I was crazy before......just wait.

I set out at 6:39 a.m. for a long, easy pace run.  I have properly carb loaded with cinnamon rolls and skittles for the last four days so I was set to go.

New playlist

+Sea Level elevation (I am used to running in Mountain Goat habitats)

+Lots of happy things to think about

+All the free time in the world

+Temps in the 50's

+New running gear from Christmas

+A new course I have never run before with plenty of hills and a gorgeous view of the ocean.

=28 miles in 3:49:29

I was just going to run to the ocean and have Billy pick me up but once I got there I felt like a million bucks and had to challenge myself.

There were rolling hills the entire run and I am pretty sure this was a great training run for Boston.  A total of 3102 feet of climbing uphill and 3092 feet downhill.

Rest day yesterday and at least two rest days after day.

Currently typing this from my ice bath.   I asked Billy to come take a picture of me in my ice bath but something about modesty and the fact I look like I have been ran over by a truck...we decided against it.

Off to Big Bear to hang with the grandparents.

I will be reading all of your blogs from my iphone.  I can't comment but know that I am commenting in my head and loving every second of it.

Keep in mind my ridiculous mileage has nothing to do with losing weights.  I am actually trying to gain a few lbs by eating ridiculous amounts of calories (like at least 3,000 a day)

****I am doing this because I will have a sub 3 hour marathon and you may even see me in the Olympics some day.

When and where was the most beautiful run you have ever had?

-I am going to have to say today's wins.

What is your most memorable running/exercise/fitness accomplishment?

-My last marathon.... and today for the distance:)

If you could choose to be anywhere in the entire world right this second....where would it be?

That is a beyond amazing run! Kudos to you!! I am trying to run down the street without stopping... I will, one of these days!

If I could be anywhere in the world... I would be in Italy where my family lives!

Almost any course in Orange County is a great one - but Corona del Mar and Dana Point are two of my favorites!

I ran a whopping 8 miles yesterday, but it was AWESOME, and I felt like I could totally keep going, which is a first for me :D.

Have fun in Big Bear!!!

Hi first of all, you are officially crazy Janae. Second, GREAT run!!

The most beautiful run and most memorable are one in the same for me. My half marathon in October was spectacularly beautiful and just such a great experience.

If I could be anywhere in the world right now, I'd be on a warm beach with my spouse, laughing at the fools in Massachusetts buried in the snow, but unfortunately, I am one of those fools right now.

If I could be anywhere right now, it would be someplace warm!! It's currently 17 degrees in Scranton, PA! blah.

You are a superstar athlete, btw!! Good for you! Enjoy the rest of your Christmas break!

I am guessing my most beautiful run would be one of my 4 times I have run outside :-) Can't wait until the weather improves so I can do it again! Those are also my most memorable because I am actually able to do it!

If I could be anywhere right now it would be on some tropical beach with the hubby and the kids. We need a REAL VACATION!

Totally crazy girl! Aren't you just returning from an injury? I have been away, but came back and getting caught up on blog stalking. Love Billy's Christmas gift of running with you. Sweet.

Last week, while visiting, I had the opportunity to run with my brothers marathoner friends. 8 miles at 7:20 pace through scenic NE PA with Santa hats on our heads. It was great. I need to make marathon loving friends around here.

Where would I like to be? Disney with the fam. Or Italy with my husband drinking wine. Or Boston on Patriot's Day.

You are amazing!! And I am so jealous, my run today sucked, 6 degree weather plus pitch darkness plus a body having been fueled by too much holiday sugar = five very painful and slow miles.

If I could be anywhere? Anywhere warm sunny and close to the ocean with my family!

Thats awesome! So jealous of your weather. I went out and ran in 25 degree weather while snowing in Virginia yesterday. But i couldn't stand the thought of sitting on a plane for 6 hours so I needed to do something.

Anyway I think you are so incredibly crazy and amazing with this run. You will totally blow boston away!

You are crazy! But in a good way, and you're super speedy as well! Your run sounds fantastic. You are my running idol! I've had a lot of beautiful runs- for me I think it depends on the day and on my mindset. Sometimes I am just so happy to be running.
Have fun in Big Bear!

oh Janae! wow! how cool that you can say it was your most beautiful run and that mileage is wildly impressive.

the half marathon Dec 5th was my greatest running accomplishment...that, and the day I ran 10 for the 1st time during training. prettiest run? probably in Napa Valley!

I'd like to be skiing in Colorado this week with Billy. :)

I read blogs on my iPhone when traveling and always wish I could comment!

Most Beautiful Run ~ Everyone of my daily beach runs during the summer

I've had a lot of memorable running accomplishments, I would say my most memorable fitness accomplishment would be losing 50 lbs as a 13 yr old and then discovering running! I can't wait to do my first Tri as well!!

I want to travel Europe, but it is cold there now too, so for now I would agree with most of you about being warm on a beach :D

Oh yeah? Well I ran four miles yesterday. Yeah, that's right FOUR. Not TWENTY-four. Just four.

I suck. lol

Oh, and I made myself laugh reading your post. I was looking at your splits, and I was like, "What's up with that? She started at less than a 7 min/mile and got like 8 seconds slower per mile all the way through! If I ever want to run with her, I'll have to wait until she's already run like 20 miles." Then I realized I was looking at the time, not the pace. For what it's worth, your pace is much more consistent than the time. lol

I think I just choked...28 miles! You make me look like an old lady :) Which I am. Your my hero!

I've only been running 4 years and prior to living in Colorado springs it was Fl. Not very pretty. I'd say here has been beautiful for running.

I have yet to achieve the one moment I am truly proud of.

Anywhere in the world?? Believe it or not I'd have to think about that one.

OMG, you are crazy girl!

I was proud of the fact that I ran the killer hill in my parent's town on Christmas morning as part of my semi-long run (half training). Makes my run look like doodoo ;-) The hill was unplanned, I just wanted to see if I could, lol!

Oh. My. Goodness. I would give anything to be half the runner you are. Nothing I do could ever compare to what you achieved this morning. And your pace! I try everything: upping my mileage to 100 a week injured me horribly, treadmills set off my scoliosis and I seem to lose speed after a long period of training on them, resting just makes my muscles tighten up even with yoga added in...I can never find my running groove.

You are an idol, an inspiration.

The best I could do was a 3:40:52 marathon in the hills/mountains of Lake Windermere. The UK has some lovely scenery, and I cried tears of joy at the end. My one and only marathon!

I am off to slink off and bask in my inferiority complex now...

Most memorable fitness accomplishment - it's a tie between swimming my first continuous 2.4 miles on the IMLP course on my 34th b-day, exactly one year after learning to swim, and finishing Ironman Wisconsin in under 13 hours this year. Can I say I am completely and utterly jealous? You're "slow easy run" was faster than my pushing it pace, and I've never run more than 13.2 miles. And I'd probably gain about 5 lbs/week if I ate 3000 cals/day even if I ran as much as you do. Okay, exaggeration, but still.

I would say that most beautiful runs were the ones I just had in Colorado. Beautiful Rockey Mountains covered in snow!

Most memorable accomplishment was finishing my first half. Hope to do a full soon, and would cry if I BQed. But I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Sorry for posting so late on this one but I thought of a Q last night while running: You didn't plan to do 28 miles originally - how did you (or do you) fuel during long runs like this? Especially if you plan on a shorter run.
