We are at Billy's grandparents house in Big Bear drinking hot chocolate, playing with puppies and staying in our pj's.  I don't know if I will be able to go back to reality.

IMG_3264.JPG

I was craving salad and 4.5 bowls of cereal and Billy was craving a apple pie and ice cream shake.  We went with our craving for breakfast. And my bro-in-law is looking mighty creepy in this picture.

So, I haven't talked about pizza for awhile but that doesn't mean I haven't been eating it.  We made a huge Christmas Eve Pizza Feast.

I tried a new method of having one piece in each hand and alternating bites from 2 different types of pizza.  Try it.

My Mother-In-Laws amazing pizza dough recipe:  (Makes 3 pizzas) P.S. It is super quick too.

Put the pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 500 degrees.

In a mixer bowl put:

3.5 cups hot tap water

3.5 cups bread flour

1/4 cup sugar

3 Tbs instant yeast

Mix until moistened, cover, let "sponge" for 8 minutes.

Then, add 1 T. salt and remaining bread flour (4-6 C).  From the time you start the mixer and start adding flour until desired consistency is reached, let the mixer knead for a total of 8 minutes.

Remove dough from mixer bowl and pinch off three equal portions.

Spread cornmeal on one of the pizza peels.  Roll out the dough, alwayys pushing from the center towards the outside.  While rolling the dough, occasionally "slide and shake" the dough to make sure it isn't sticking to the peel.  If it sticks, lift the dough and spread more corn meal under it.

With a pastry brush, brush the pizza dough with garlic, olive oil and garlic salt.

Total baking time is 7 minutes!!! Pop any bubbles in the dough with a sharp knife at about 3.5 minutes, put on your toppings and finish cooking.

IMG_3054.JPG

IMG_3072.JPG

Pesto, mozarella, veggies and the avocado was the best part.

IMG_3068.JPG

Thai chicken: Peanut sauce, carrots, white bean sprouts, cilantro, chicken, roasted peanuts.

IMG_3069.JPG

BBQ Chicken with avocado and red onion.  I forgot what the other half was sorry.  Memory loss at the age of 24...it happens.

IMG_3063.JPG

My creation and personal fave: Pesto, mozzarella, tomato's, chicken and cilantro.

IMG_3074.JPG

Of course we had to make a dessert pizza! Butter, cinnamon sugar, pears and white chocolate chips.  Random works when all of the ingredients are amazing.

Where and what was the best pizza you have ever had?

- I really might have to say this dough recipe and these combinations are my absolutely favorite ever.  I will go to Italy one day and eat pizza for ever meal...along with gelato that is.

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

-Salad and oatmeal squares. Normal I know.

Mmm that pizza looks so good!!! The best pizza I've ever had is at the Gaslight Company in Portsmouth, NH. Try it. For breakfast I had egg & cheese on an english muffin and mountain dew. The usual for me. :) I'm not doing good about quitting the caffeine.

Pizza is pretty much one of my favorite foods ever! I LOVE IT. And ya know what? I rarely make it at home for some crazy reason. The best I've had was in Italy, but I've found a couple of great places in Dallas, too. Mmmm. Now I want pizza. I love that you just listen to your body and go with the cravings for breakfast - I think that is so important! I had oatmeal for breakfast. I topped mine with cinnamon apples today.

p.s. If Billy and I ever build a house and design a kitchen (and win the lottery), I want a wood-burning pizza oven! And I'll invite you over to use it. You can make your mother-in-law's crust.

The best pizza I've ever had in the world was when I was in Rome. It was a flatbread pizza with fresh tomatoes, basil, olive oil, etc... It was by far the best thing that has ever happened to me.

This morning I ate apple pie oatmeal. YUM!

Your pizza's look awesome. I've never made my own dough before i'll have to try it.

Yum!

Best pizza I've had is at Big Fred's in Omaha, NE (where I went to college).

Breakfast #1 was PB & honey toast (pre-run);
Breakfast #2 was Raisin Bran Crunch, yogurt and chocolate crunch bells from my kids' stockings (post-run);
Breakfast #3 was a Zone bar (choc almond - yum!) and Dove dark chocolate hearts (because that's all I could find in my office and breakfasts #1 and #2 didn't fill me up!)

Breakfast ... funny you should ask ... raw baby spinach, almonds, dried cranberries and feta salad, banana, peaches & cottage cheese. This is called redemption for all the crap I have been eating. This was followed by 6 various Christmas cookies between 9 and 10 AM.

P.S I want that first pizza. All of it.

Hi there, found your blog thru Christina's post today.

You have me craving pizzas now. I haven't even thought of pizza for a long time. I'll have to show the fiance so he can make it. Me and bread making don't seem to get along well.

Which Big Bear are you referring to? We have Big Bear here in Southern California too.

Those pizzas look AMAZING - I cant wait until Im at my more normal goal weight and with all this running can stop looking at those pics and trying to calculate ww points and talk myself out of eating something like that and just enjoy a piece!

Breakfast was a shakeology shake this morning (first time, not as bad as I thought and surprisingly filling and gave me full energy for my workout)

FYI love the blog!

Um, okay, so we can go to Colorado and go for a run and eat ice cream, but then we also have to make this pizza.

My best pizza ever... I think we'll say three-way tie between the pizza I had in Germany, a pizza my mom makes with pesto and shrimp, and pizza from Rosati's.

Breakfast was a piece of bread before running, then an english muffin with garlic salt, light butter, and parmesan cheese, clementines and a pear.

That first pizza just made my stomach audibly growl. Oh my goodness that looks insanely delicious. A veggie pizza with avocado needs to show up on my doorstep like... now.

Best pizza ever is from this place in Dover, NH that does brick oven pizzas. The crust is made out of the stuff they make their garlic knots out of, so the crust is garlicky and buttery and parmesan...y. Then, in case the crust wasn't delicious enough, there's the fresh mozz, tomato, and basil. It's TO DIE for. You can only eat like one slice before you want to explode but the pain is soooo worth it. And I only get it like once a year hahaha.

Your MIL's pizza recipe looks very similar to mine. Love it!!

I like to put in some (maybe a tablespoon) ground flax and also some oats- just a few (like 1/4 cup)and I sometimes add soy protein to it.
Very yummy!

The best pizza I have ever had has to be just about any I have had after an amazing workout.

I love my own pizza, but after the Eugene Marathon I ate at Pappy's Pizza in Eugene and had one that had pesto, artichoke hearts, black olives, sausage and feta.

It may sound strange, but it was DELICIOUS.

Those all look AMAZING. Especially the pesto one. pesto is definitely my favorite condiment and possibly a top 10 favorite food.
As for favorite pizza goes that is impossible to decide because I have never met a pizza I didn't like, but in recent memory, the Vegetarian @ California Pizza Kitchen (with goat cheese, of course) sticks out as particularly nummy.

Pizza-my FAVORITE food! I love Margherita pizza from Pazzaluna in St. Paul. If for some Godforsaken reason you ever leave the beauty of Utah for the frigidness of Minnesota-this is a great restaurant!

I eat the same thing for breakfast every day. Old fashioned oats raw mixed in Greek yogurt with cinnamon, bananas, and dates. Boring but I love it!
