Triple Tangent Tuesday

Woke up this morning and did 45 minutes on the spin bike with zero tension while watching 'Chopped' on my ipad.

4 sets of 13 push-ups.  Ouch.

Why would I still wake up crazy early to go to the gym when I can't really do much?

-I LOVE being around other crazies that get out of their nice warm bed to get their sweat on.  Their endorphins are contagious

-I am a morning person and I learned early on in my marriage that Billy doesn't particularly enjoy me waking him up at 5:30 a.m. to see if he wants to hang out with me.

-I want to stay in the habit of getting up and working out in the morning, otherwise I fear that when my bones are whole again I will be out of routine and besides fighting to get back into cardiovascular shape I don't want to have to fight to get back into routine.

-I can still work my upper body like the professional body builder that I am.

I do not want to say the exact date that this 459 ounce bottle of ketchup was purchased but I will tell you it was very recent and BIlly has used it twice.  I could dip practically anything into that crack and think it tastes delicious.


I have been a clutz since I was just itty bitty.  I fell on the sidewalk (those cracks really jump out at you) and I broke my front teeth and had to get them removed.  Let's just say I didn't have front teeth for nine years.

Dang, I wish I still had that dress...... That lace would look so good on me now.


I am a thumbs up kind of person.  I talk with my hands a lot and my students constantly make fun of me.  They challenge me to keep my hands to my side as I teach for at least 5 minutes but I can never do it because I get way into whatever I am talking about.  It probably makes them feel nautious to watch me run around the room flailing my arms and that is why their heads are on the desk half the time.

I used to love mayo, then quit it cold turkey. Now it seems vile. I loooooove ranch dressing, though. Yumtastic.

I want to be a morning person, but I just can't. I try, though.

I usually work out in the evenings, but would prefer to fit it in before work. Fail!

I'm a total morning workout girl. The later in the day, I think it gets harder to go to the gym. And nothing feels better than knowing you have already sweat your guys out and then after school you can instead go lay in bed :)

I'm a ranch girl! Gave up dairy for 2 months so my go to has been honey mustard or bbq
I generally take an hour lunch and run on my lunch break- great way to break up work.

condiment: cannot have any anymore used to be ketchup.

workout: morinng always. My legs are about 300 lbs each in the afternoon.

I am a morning person. I fall asleep in front of the TV almost every night!

tangents:..right now I have a tooth that is all plastic and it gets on my nerves so bad.

I have a collection of chuck taylor (low cut only) my pink ones are about as old as you dear!

When I used to able to have it...In-N-Out Secret Sauce (which I think is ketchup and ranch) Genius!
I'm a morning workout person....It feels good to have something accomplished while others are just dragging themselves out of bed. I'm a thumbs up kinda person too. Except I have oddly tiny thumbs so people make fun of me for them. Whateva, I rock it.

Keep up the good work with waking up in the am... I try to work out/run in the am, but it only happens 1-2 times a week. But I get it done in the afternoon!

My tangents:
Peanut butter is one of my favorite foods....besides chocolate. I've gone through half of a 20oz container in a week....all by myself. :P I now have my own pb jar with my initials on it!!!!

When we first moved here, we didn't speak any portuguese. Some friends gave us a basket of food when we got here, and we found these crackers that we loved. Since, we didn't understand all of the labels in the store, we just kept buying those crackers. I think we had crackers w/ butter for breakfast for about 4 months straight.....and then didn't buy them again for about 2 years! :D

I am scared to death of bugs. Not much else really scares me, but the second I see a bug, even if its tiny, I turn into my four year old self and scream my head off!!!

I have to workout in the morning or else it doesn't happen--unless of course it's a spin or yoga class with a great teacher. Sometimes I can be motivated to make it to one of those.

Your tangent about talking with your hands made me think. You should do a short little video of you teaching. It would be really fun to see.

So would love to be a morning person but I'm not. I am getting better at after a few years of crying babies in the morning hours! I prefer night but I don't like to work out in the again..forced to wake up but it sucks the first five minutes!!

I hate working out past about 10 AM. I get so much energy from working out and I feel fresher and like my workouts are more efficient in the morning.

So I'm from outside Pittsburgh (Heinz ketchup is based there) and I will only eat Heinz ketchup. I can taste the difference between it and any other ketchup (especially Hunts) and I will flat out refuse to eat somewhere that doesn't have Heinz. It's weird, but I swear that anything else doesn't taste right. I also prefer Miracle Whip to mayo. I think the tangy flavor tastes way more delicious than mayo.

I love mayo - a lot.
I work out around 8:30 every morning. I plan my school schedule around my workouts. If I don't make it in by them I usually skip the workout all together.
I am a total night owl and I hate getting up in the morning. I was so tired this morning I talked my 15 yr old into skipping seminary (good influence, right?) so I wouldn't have to drive her.
Tangent - I like to have running gear that makes me look more legit than I am. Fake it til I make it as far as I'm concerned.

Your post made me think about how much I have changed in 5 years time.

Ketchup is my favorite condiment now and I used to think it ruined the flavor of a grilled burger or fries or what have you.

I used to only like early morning workouts. Still true for the weekend, but during the week an after school sweat fest is a great stress reliever and gives me much more energy to hang with hubby/friends/family.

Used to be up at the crack of dawn even on weekends, now, on weekends, I sleep in a little later, 7, and stay up at least to 11 (used to be the total grannie home by 9)

I like working out in the morning best (because then its easier to get 2 workouts in and I become less motivated as the day goes on but I will basically workout whenever the opportunity pressents itself :)

Omg I have the same front tooth story!!! Mine got knocked in/back after I slammed into this boy I was chasing in preschool! ;) Haha. I got them pulled and didn't have front teeth foreverrrr either! Apparently the day before I was supposed to get a procedure to cut my gums to make them come through...I fell on the sidewalk and that busted my mouth up enough to let my teeth come through. Clutz? I think so!

I used to do the a.m. thing...and still do on the weekends but lately I've been staying up too late (aka 9:45pm) to get my butt to the gym by 5am. Therefore, I go after work when it is so busy you have to time your strength training work out to the MINUTE so that you can snag the empty treadmill the SECOND that the person gets off of it before someone else gets it.

mornings are my favorite! i wake up at 5:30 even on saturdays!

I love triple tangent Tuesday and posted mine on my blog! I am obsessed with mustard and I think I literally have at least 8 kinds right now, but HATE ketchup and mayo, which I know is un-American. I also love waking up early to work out, and go to bed earlier than my grandma. I am impressed with your dedication though, way to stay in the routine! You are awesome!

I'm such a morning person today. Tangent about me-I just switched majors from math to health going to into my senior year. What can I say...blech, I ran my first half marathon and decided it was the greatest thing in the world. I'm with you on the ketchup! I use copious amounts of the stuff. I love pickles in ketchup! But I don't put it on everything - I don't put it on hot dogs, oddly enough and I don't put it on eggs or Mac and Cheese either. That's just gross. haha. But I know a lot of people that do :)
I think it's great you're still going to the gym. I think you'd be depressed if you weren't getting up and out there - and 4 sets of 13 pushups? You're a beast! And I mean that in a good way!

I was never a morning person, until I started running regularly. I can't take the 9 months a year that it's 95 degrees or more in the PM. So, I started running in the morning, then I moved my other workouts to the morning most of the time. I pretty much wake up early every morning, even on the weekends.

My whole blog today was random weird stuff about me, lol!

Definitely feel you on the morning workouts. To me, if I wait 'til the afternoon to workout, then I'm just waiting until the next morning. Because let's be honest, eating ice cream at 7pm in front of Food Network is much more enjoyable than being in a gym. :)

1. Mustard. Mostly because it's the healthiest and I don't like the others QUITE enough to sacrifice calories for a different taste. (Though yesterday I made a bit of my own BBQ sauce to put on a sandwich... so sometimes I concede!)
2. I work out whenever I can, which is probably why I've been so darn inconsistent lately! Need to work on that once I get on a new project for work and can get into a routine.
3. Definitely a morning person. I LOVE the early hours when I can get a lot done before everyone else wakes up! Funny, though - I totally used to be a night owl.

Def. a morning person!! I don't feel good about my day if I don't get my "sweat on!!" I'm always the first person awake at home. I get it from my didn't fall to far away from the tree! :)

Fav condiment - I love cholula and sriacha sauce! Love it on my eggs, pasta, rice!

tangents let's see...I eat my sour patch kids, hot tamales by pairs. ummmm...I always put my right shoe on before my left AND I can only sleep on my right side! :)

I just try to workout whenever I can fit it in! So it varies. :)

I used to be a night owl...and I'm not really a morning person. My body is just confused when it comes to my sleeping habits.

I work out mostly at night but I have been trying to incorporate some morning workouts. I definitely agree that you should continue to workout when you usually do otherwise you are right, your body will not cooperate when it's time to get back into it.
I have never really been a morning person, so I guess that makes me a night owl!

BBQ sauce and absolutely no mayo! I like to run early as long as it isnt freezing out. I am often too tired by the end of the day. My sister had a similar tooth incident when she was two and lost her two front teeth. I have a neurotic fear that my kids will fall and knock out their teeth.

I like after work workouts, but I switch to mornings in the summer when it's too hot to run in the afternoon. I actually like both! I feel more tired when I get up super early, though. It feels like it's harder for my body to adjust.

I'm a lover of ALL condiments. Seriously, I don't think there's one I've come across that I don't enjoy.
I love working out in the morning, knowing that it's done for the day! And I'd say I'm a forced morning person...I love the mornings, but it doesn't come natural. I have to force myself to get up...THEN I enjoy the day. :)

Ketchup for sure! Although a little Worcestershire sauce and chickpeas fried with a little olive oil is deliciousness.

If I can, I work out in the morning, before I get off track/lazy/tired. That being said, I'm off school right now so it's easy and morning for me means 9am or something.

Night owl. 150%. Like goes-to-bed-at-3am sort of night owl. Yeah, it's bad.

I love Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce! It's best used to dip your french fries in. I also use mashed avocado as a condiment. I spread it on sandwiches, toast, burgers, etc...

I am a DIPPER!! wish I wasn't! I love ketchup, ranch, A1 on certain things, BBQ sauce, etc...I will give it a whirl...eXCEPT soy sauce...GAG! I like mayo but not for dippin'

I set 4:30 am for morning work outs, my daughter and hubby as still fast asleep when I rise at 4 and meet my running buds at 4:30, so there is no interference in actually completing my workout! that's just how I do it...otherwise, something ALWAYS happens. like yesterady I came home, put broccoli in the steamer, started cooking grren beans, marinated pork chops, and cut onions and mushrooms for sautee later, quickly changed clothes, ran out the door wigh kiddo and headed down the driveway wiht her in barbie jeep( yep pblazing at a 22 minute per mile pace) got to our runway(my husband is a crop duster) where I tricked her into playing while I ran up and down up and down. Yes there were stops and little walking to deal with her happiness, but that is what it takes to beg for a 3 mile evening run, then home to finish supper! joys of mommyhood and running!

I am a morning person but have totally been converted from a total night owl after having kids!

Often times, my meals are vehicles for the condiments (like hot dogs with ketchup and stuff.)

Jumping on the Kara-love bandwagon! I just started reading your blog, navigated here from Shut Up And Run. I just re-read Runners World's article on Kara from last year since I'm having confidence issues too. Her new book JUST arrived on my desk at work and I am geeking out. I really hope it helps. I am about to start training for my first marathon (MCM baby!). My and my punk-ass 10 minute miles (le sigh) need all the help we can get! You rock too, btw!

I'm def a morning person. I do my workouts early when I have the most energy. I feel guilty if I miss a workout. I still have fear foods!! I'm trying to work on it but its a struggle.

My favorite condiment is most certainly mustard. I cannot stand mayo or barbeque, but I will eat ketchup if mustard isnt an option.
I always workout in the afternoon/evening because I am NOT a morning person. That also kind of answers the final question... I am most definitely a night owl and can stay up to early hours of the morning! :D
