My Perfect Night.

Alex (my running idol) and Allison (my fashion idol) texted us: "Sushi and The Bachelor?"  I peed a little (it is normal for me when I am super excited to do this) and realized that my prayers had been answered.

IMG_4312.JPG

I worked at a sushi restaurant for two years and ate it almost everyday.  It has been 8 months too long since my last bite of sushi.

IMG_4310.JPG

Cream cheese, avocado, tempura sweet potato and salmon=heaven. The tempura veggies were to die for.  Why can't we always eat our veggies tempurified?

IMG_4308.JPG

The above sushi roll is called sushi lasagna and I am pretty sure I downed 18 pieces of this one.

IMG_4305.JPG

I think sushi is really pretty and hopefully you do too because I took a lot of pictures of it.

IMG_4301.JPG

The boys couldn't make rolls fast enough to keep up with me and my sushi inhalation....that is what a 20 miler will do to you.

IMG_4306.JPG

I did take a breather and made one roll myself.....should I serve sushi at my future restaurant?

IMG_4298.jpg

As we ate our sushi we watched The Bachelor and it was SO fun to have someone other than myself to discuss each scene with and someone that was obsessed with the show as much as I am, thanks Allison.

I predicted who was going home....did you?

Off to go do some cross-training.  I am tapering the running this week because I am racing this Saturday.  Is it normal that I am already getting NERVOUS about it?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you get pre-race anxiety?

-Big time. That is one reason I signed up for this race.....so I can work on calming my nerves for when Boston comes:)

Do you talk during movies/tv shows....do you like to discuss what is going on?

-I am a big talker and it is hard for me to not ask a million questions while I am watching something.

What are your favorite sushi fillings/toppings?

-Avocado, tempura shrimp, salmon......actually, pretty much ANYTHING and EVERY sushi that has ever been invented.

Have you ever made sushi or other ethnic foods at home?

I LOVE The Bachelor!!!!! My hubby makes fun of me because I love it so much.. and get sad when it's over.
I had an idea who was going home....... so sad though. She was a nice girl.

I most definitely get pre-race anxiety... i get so so nervous and it makes me feel sick. i need to start working on that so i don't get like that on the 27th of march.
Good luck with your race this weekend!!!

That sushi looks delish!!!
PS: love your outfit

Hey Janae!!!
I understand the pre-race jitters!! I get nervous for days before a race, even when it is just a 5k!! I'm so competitive I can't help myself :)
Have a great workout this morning :)

I've made sushi once and it was delicious, but a disaster. I'm so impressed with how good yours looked!

I always get jitters before a race, even if it's a 5k. It's probably good, though, because it helps me get all psyched up.

I always talk during movies and it drives Mike crazy. Too bad he's married to me and going to have to deal with me FOR EV ER!

At February 22, 2011 at 6:18 AM , Blogger Carmen said...

I do get nervous, but week of the race I am always more worried about getting a cold or stomach bug. Worse than pre-race jitters for me is post race blues. I'm always super sad to see a training cycle end. I definitely "race to train." I just had a half on Saturday in Myrtle beach. It was perfect!

I am obsessed with sushi. I love it so much, and my favorite are eel and avocado rolls. Yum. I also like rainbow rolls, shrimp tempura, etc. I must learn to make my own, so I can have sushi date nights. :)

I am the BIGGEST chatter during movies! :) So much! I think we would get along so well, haha!

I love your tights! You are so gorgeous! :) Have an amazing Tuesday!

I LOVE LOVE LOVEEE sushi! But I cant make any sort of recipes sooo sushi making is def out of the questions!

I ran my first marathon on sunday and I was nervous alll morning and evening before but then when I got to the starting line I was more like LETS DO THIS than nervous- it was amazing to not feel so nervous!

I'm sure you'll kick this race in the facehole! Can't wait for a recap!!

i always get nervous for a race. usually not until 24 hours before the race though. i'm usually calm, cool, & collected up until the day before, then i have major butterfly tummy. lol.

so excited for your race on Saturday. you're going to do so well!

p.s. the sushi looks way yummy!

I am SO NERVOUS for my trial and it's two weeks away! Hold on...it's less than that...PANIC!! But girl you'll ROCK it, as always! What time are you shooting for?

Oh my gosh! The Bachelor makes my life a little happier! I actually was able to watch it last night (I usually watch it Tuesday mornings). But I am a definite talker during shows, and I know that it bugs Tom to death. With my girlfriends though, I love to analyze everything!

We had a sushi making party a couple of months ago! It was AMAZING! I love cucumbers in it, and my favorite protein is shrimp in it :)

Good luck at your race :) You'll rock it!

I get freakishly nervous before a race, and at the start line feel like turning around and running away.

Yes, I talk to myself when I watch tv. Otherwise if Bud is there I still talk, and annoy him.

I love avocado/cucumber/carrot sushi. I have a hard time eating the fish and have to drown it in wasabi.

I definitely thought the person who went home was going to go...brad was a little freaked by her, for sure. I have never made homemade sushi but I love sushi SO MUCH...I need to try it.

At February 22, 2011 at 6:37 AM , Blogger Sheanna said...

Charleston knows how to do sushi, friend. One of my favorite rolls is the salad roll. It's just minced up crab rolled in a cucumber (yes, a cucumber) and drizzled with equal parts soy sauce and rice vinegar. No rice. It's heaven. Lucky for me, the restaurant that serves it is right around the corner from my office!!!!

I'm thinking that Chantal O. is going to win. Brad isn't ready for kids and I don't think he really "feels it" with Ashley as much as he says he does.

And ooooohhhhh yeah, I talk during shows. One of my worst habits is repeating lines from shows I'm watching...Right after they were said.

I lovvve sushi! That and Chipotle are the two foods I get the most cravings for. I've never made it at home myself, but I would love to try. First, I really need to learn how to cook rice better.

Absolutely adore you're tights... where'd you get them??

I love sushi but I have never made it at home. My fav toppins are avocado, crab and salmon. I also love soft shell crab. I find the more races I do, the less I get nervous. I did get nervous before the NYC marathon this past year but I was probably just super duper excited.

And I definitely predicted who would go home on The Bachelor, even though I really liked her. It was sad! I felt really bad for her, though, because I liked her from the beginning. : )

Wow, your sushi looks divine. I've never made it - it looks so fiddly, I'm always afraid that I'll mess it up!
As for pre-race jitters? Everytime (although I've only run a handful of races). It's usually because I'm underprepared or afraid of missing my target; problems which I am CERTAIN you don't have. You ROCK!

Fun post.

Yes, I get running anxiety big time just like I did before big games in high school. I swear I have to go and "release" about 5 minutes before the race starts every time. It never fails.

Yes, I've made sushi at home before, but it just never turns out as good as the restaurants make it. But alas, I shall try and try again.

My favorite sushi fillings are spicy salmon, yellow tail, spicy tuna, veggie rolls, california rolls with real crab, tempura rolls, rainbow rolls and every other kind of roll ever. I heart sushi.

Oh happy day friendy friend!

I predicted who was going home on The Bachelor as well. It seemed sort of obvious from the hometown dates. Love that show!

I'm not too much of a talker during a show. I'm too busy reading the captions. I always have a hard time hearing and understanding what they say, so I watch most of my tv with the captions! It used to drive my husband nuts, but now he is used to it!

I'm not a sushi eater, but I agree, it's pretty!

So impressed you made your own sushi! Sushi is one of my favorite foods, and I really wanna have a sushi night with friends. I love avocado, salmon or tuna, and those really tasty sauces sushi restaurants make.

I used to get more nervous before races in college. There was a lot of pressure to do well and not let your team down. I am glad I had that pressure because I think I learned how to function and block out those negative feelings. Now, I just want to do well and try to keep it in perspective - that it is just putting one foot in front of the other and I do it every day. Enjoy your taper! Don't be nervous - think of how much you love to run fast :)

You made your own sushi?! That is so legit! I have had sushi twice and wasn't really crazy about it, but lately I have been craving it. For some reason I don't really get nervous before races, but in high school I used to get SO nervous before cheerleading competitions. Once I got so nervous that I threw up (embarrassing) and ended up quitting a year later because I hated feeling like that! I haven't watched The Bachelor yet but I'm going to right when I get home from class. Ahhh I wish we could eat sushi and watch reality TV together. Hope you have a great day. Love you!!!

I also love The Bachelor. My Hubster was messing with me last night and told me he forbids me to watch it and that's making me lose brain cells :-) He kept this up for the entire 2 hrs the show was on. He snuck in the bedroom while I was in the kitchen and changed the channel. {he was watching a movie in the living room because he refuses to watch reality TV w/ me}

I don't try to predict whose leaving because I have no clue.. I can't believe he kept Michelle for as long as he did..No clue what goes on in his head.

I definitely talk through movies and TV. I went to the theatre last ngiht and swear the couple in front of me was about to throw their popcorn at me to get me to stop.

For some reason, once at the race site, I am good to go, feel calm and relaxed waiting to start my race

- OK we cant watch TV together, my girl and her WHOLE family talk during shows, you would get along with them, but I get frustrated because I cant hear, so they get mad when I just watch sports, because you dont need volume to watch sports

- I dont like sushi, but I love to make mexican food

I'm a big talker too during movies and tv shoes too. guiltyyy! honestly, what's the point in watching with others if you can't comment on it?

and I love restaurants that have sushi AND other dishes. include that shiz fa sho. ;)

So much fun!!!

I definitely get pre-race anxiety but it usually ends up helping me. I talk during reality shows too and some others as well. I actually don't like sushi! I adore mexican food though.

My favorite sushi restaurant is half price on Tuesday nights. Definitely will be going there tonight after seeing those pictures!

I talk through everything. Part of it is I can't pay attention and get lost, so I have to ask a million questions.

I love sushi! It is probably one of the only foods that I think I could eat every day. Eel is probably my favorite, but really, I love it all.

You had me at "sushi"! So impressed you made your own. Fav ingredients: salmon, sprouts, cream cheese, and cucumbers...but I would likely eat anything that came in a sushi roll! And, you even did tempura?!!

Thanks for not spoiling the Bachelor--on the DVR for this week!! :D

Jitters: yes, but they can be positive! Keep up with your mental imagery. Often times, we "replay" the poor performances instead of the excellent ones. "See" yourself strong, in control, and turning it over! YOU.WILL.ROCK!

just watched the bachelor! Who is your favorite? I hate how rumors always spew about who the bachelor will pick :( And yes, Sushi is amazing.

I also love eithiopian food and I got a recipe to make the bread they use, but the recipe takes something like 2 weeks to make, so uhh, not gonna be making that anytime soon!

I talk so much when I'm watching movies. It's a small problem I have. I'm surprised people bring me public honestly.

I'm so impressed that you made all this yourself! We ate sushi this weekend too. I always get vegetable tempura. Yum!!! I told my husband I wanted to make vegetable tempura at home, but that I felt like there might be something wrong with owning a fryer. How did you make it?

I went to yoga last night like a good girl and missed The Bachelor. I can't wait to watch it tonight!

Love Sushi. There isn't a kind I don't like especially with a huge chunk of wasabi on the side! I've never made it myself.

I'm just backreading. How fun to knock out 20 miles with your sister!! Looks beautiful in the mountains. I'm looking forward to running with my sister again this summer. It's been a long time and we used to do all our long runs together.

Yes....extreme pre-race anxiety. The kind that has actually brought me to tears in the start corral until the gun finally goes off and I get to start running! The one exception-Boston. God answered a few prayers for me there and I really felt at peace prior to the race.

Good luck with the mileage cutback and crosstraining! So anxious to hear about your race:)

Ok, so I have a confession. I didn't read your blog until 4pm! AHHH! I was sitting at my desk just happily working away & then my brain just went 'Janae's blog! DUH!' I felt like a part of my day was missing until I read your blog! :)
I'm addicted..what can I say- you just always make me smile. So, thank you! :)
And, I LOVE sushi! It's my favorite food. We went for Valentine's day & got the BEST roll that I have had so far...it had SMOKED SALMON in it- DELISH!
I have only watched half of the bachelor so far- but I'm predicting, after seeing the first two hometown dates that Shawntel is going home...? I plan to catch up on it when I get home.

I predicted it too!
I've always wanted to make sushi but haven't tried....yet.

I like sushi but have never made it myself. Maybe you can come over and teach me how!
I get nervous before races too. I'm sure you'll do great! You are so prepared and have trained like no one else that I know! It's good to practice though and get it all out before Boston. Who am I kidding? You're gonna be nervous no matter what. But just know that you have so many people behind you cheering for you!
Love ya!

I need to get MORE nervous about races. I'm so laid back I forget things, show up late, go to the wrong place - crazy stuff! Your sushi looks so yummy!

I get really nervous too! You're really smart to sign up for a race to get the pre race jitters out, you are going to rock it!! :)

The Bachelor is my current obsession! Unfortunately, I think we all know Emily's getting the ring (just sayin', I totally called it).

I did a 20 mile run on Saturday and ate my through a breakfast restaurant as well as lovely Thai restaurant later that day. Love that I can't eat everything in sight after running long distances!

I've never made sushi at home - for some reason it totally intimidates me. It seem hard, although I am sure I totally making it up in my head. But I do like to cook Indian food using my trusty rice cooker. :)

I'm excited for you and your race. You're going to do great, as usual!! Focus on the fun!!

I am just popping in to say that my addiction to candy has gone from bad to outrageous since I started reading your blog a couple months ago!
I love my veggies too, but your blog actually makes me crave candy. And I don't run the miles like you to deserve it all.
But, I cannot quit your blog....

So excited for your race this weekend- you are going to be awesome. :)

I made sushi at home for the first time on New Year's Day. It was so much fun! I loved it and was so proud of myself. :)

I can't wait to run a 20 miler again... I'm craving the long distance but everyone keeps telling me to TAKE IT EASY. Grrr.

We make mexican food a lot at home...a real mexican, not just TexMex.

I've gotta learn to make sushi...I love it way too much and it's expensive. Got any good links, directions and tips you can post on?

I ADORE chatting about the Bachelor with others. It is so fun to gossip, compare, and contrast.

I'm behind this week, I have to watch Monday's episode still. EARS PLUGGED AND LALALALA to all the other commenters!

p.s. why you gotta look so hottt while rolling sushi?

That Sushi looks amazingly delicious! Michael hates Sushi so I don't get to eat it very often, but I wish I knew how to make it! We don't watch a ton of tv, but when we do, I talk all the time and comment on everything and ask a ton of questions too! You're right, Sushi anything is good!!!
