Back on Track.

To prove to you how classy I am I will show you how I transported my pb to my apple on the car ride home.   Billy thinks it is unsanitary or something when I use my fingers to scoop out my pb.  Maybe it is because of my crazy long pinky nail of maybe we just need to get separate jars.

I usually have a set of utensil with me at all times just in case but I am not going to lie, BIC pens make a pretty good substitute knife.

photo-21.JPG

As soon as we got home from St. George we were out the door again to hit up a family bday party.

IMG_4434.JPG

The newly turned 19 year old (Happy Bday Brian) chose Brinner for his special dinner.  We all thanked him.  You have to understand that in our family it is kind of a big deal what the bday person chooses for their dinner.  If they make a bad choice, they may not get any presents.

IMG_4450.JPG

Breakfast burritos with 4 servings of guacamole, pineapple, grapes and there was also french toast.  I am pretty sure I only ate breakfast foods all day yesterday and I would not have it any other way.

My brother and his wife are in town from Arizona.  He is at law school at ASU.  Any ASU alumni or students out there?  Billy will be going to law school in a year and hearing about my brother's school got me thinking about where we will be in a year......scary.

I know this sounds creepy but the cutest baby in the world is my creation.

IMG_4441.JPG

I set my brother and now sister-in-law up on a date and so therefore baby Jace will have to thank me for the rest of his life:)

This other cutest baby in the world takes after me.  I am proud to call her family and hope that she continues in my footsteps as a foodie and lover of all things frosting and sprinkles.  The sad thing is that I did the exact same cupcake eating maneuver (including the sprinkle stuck to my lip) last night but I am too embarrassed to post it.   Using our hands to eat is overrated.

IMG_4466.JPG

I can't even describe to you how excited I was about the end of my night.  Alex (my running idol) is now my RUNNING COACH. He has coached many people to success and is now guiding me to my goals.  I feel like a million lbs have been lifted off of my back because I now have an expert to help me get to where I want to go.  I am even more sure than ever that I will achieve my dreams.  My first workout starts tomorrow.  I will be going after school to the track to do a speed workout (too dark to go by myself before school).  I have never done a track workout and I am beyond excited.

IMG_4469.JPG

If you have thought about having a coach to focus your energies to reach your goals Alex would be a great way to go. I already feel like I have learned a bajillion things and wondering why I didn't go to him a lot earlier.  Email me if you would like his contact info.   Alex's PR's include 1 mile-4:19, 10 miler-52 minutes, 13.1-1:10, 26.2 in 2:25.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Take a look at my interview on Stephanie's blog!!! You will absolutely love her!

Happy Happy Birthday KATIE....go wish her the happiest birthday ever!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------

What are your ideal breakfast burrito components?

-First the tortilla has to be super soft and warm, then add in eggs, cheese and guacamole and I am the happiest girl alive.

Have you ever set people up on a blind date?  Have you been set up on a blind date?

-The only time I ever set anybody up was my brother and I am retiring with 100% accuracy.  As for blind dates I went on......yeah, I don't miss those.

Do you have a running coach?  Have you thought of getting one?

-Alex is my first one and I really feel like I now have a plan that is tailored 100% to my needs and goals.  How did I run without this?!?!

Where should we go for Billy's law school?  Billy and I are leaving the decision completely up to you.

Hey Janae!! You are such an inspiration! I read the interview & I wrote down your quote - Pain is temporary, quitting is forever. I love it! I have to remember that & tell myself that. I think you did great on your race this weekend, whether you think so or not. We are our own worst critics, ya know! Did a 5k this weekend & came in 4th in my age group - the closest I've ever come to placing! And I was 20 secs from 3rd! And instead of being proud of myself for doing so well, I'm beating myself up because I didn't place! Then I remember all you have said before about not beating yourself up & saying positive things to yourself! Thank you for that!

Breakfast burrito.... egg whites, cheese, turkey bacon, green peppers, spinach, salsa sometimes!

No, I've never set anyone up on a blind date.

I don't have a running coach. The closest would be my Run Less, Run Faster book/training plan. It's working awesome! And making me faster!! That's awesome you have him to help! I guess I wouldn't know where to find one.

Have a great day, girly!

Eggs, black beans, red onions, pico, jalapenos! One blind date-totally erased from my memory. No running coach but AWESOME on yours!!, I have 2 SIL's that went to Law school at Duke but I don't know much.

i'm going to the track tomorrow!!! i used to be SUPER scared to run on the track, but really, its super confidence-boosting. especially for us "long distance" people. cause we really don't have to run THAT fast (still, its super challenging for me...) and the workout seems to go by so quickly. i'm so happy that the snow is starting to melt and i can get back outside for my track time.

can't wait to hear how it goes :)

Mike already got into some places (wake forest, GW, fordham) but deferred acceptance and will probably apply to other places too. They need to attend the same place that would be so fun! about law school. beware, the finance person in me is about to come out. without knowing anything i would say, is the investment worth it? in other words, why does he want to go and what does he want to do with the degree. for instance,if he wants to do taxes. i'm all for getting a CPA and law degree. work for deloitte for 2 years and then become a corporate tax attorney. making some bank.law school can cost $80k in tuition. which roughly equals $800/month in student loan payments when he gets out (a.k.a. an extra rent payment).

the best advice i can give you without knowing details is go to the best possible school. the higher ranked the school the easier it is to land a job.

i would love a running coach (and a babysitter). so. ready. to. run.

Hi Janae! You probably don't remember me (My parents, the Ainge's lived behind your parents. I think you might have been my sister Brittany's age??) but I remember you! Somehow I stumbled on your blog and LOVE IT! Thanks for being so awesome and really so inspiring. I was thinking about you all Saturday morning :-)

My husband is actually graduating in April from BYU's law school. We are finally done :-) I remember so vividly trying to make the decision where to go. He got into lots of schools all over the country so it was so hard trying to decide where was the best place for our family. We ultimately decided to stay at BYU mostly to stay around family but also because it was SOOOO much cheaper than anywhere else. My husband has really loved it and is so glad he chose here. It has also given him a lot of opportunities to meet and interact with lawyers from Utah, since this is where he wants to practice.

But wherever you choose will be the right place for you guys. You are about to start an exciting three-year adventure! I can't wait to hear where you decide!

I think I've already given my 2 cents that he should ditch his law school dreams. The legal field has been slowly collapsing...there are too many lawyers. And most are miserable.

I went to law school in CA, and unless he wants to take the hardest Bar exam in the country once he graduates (it is a 3 day exam), then he should choose to NOT go to law school in CA! I would stay in Utah! Or Colorado. I don't think those states are as saturated with lawyers as CA is.

Congrats on the running coach, that is a huge deal! Rock on

Janae!! I just wanted to tell you that I truly think that you had an excellent race experience, although I know it wasn't exactly what you wanted... Be gentle with yourself as you are navigating the whole training/racing thing. Hopefully, you will have a very long career as a runner so be prepared to have highs and lows. You will always learn something and that's the blessing of running!!

I have not considered a coach since my goal is just looong miles and NOT fast. My butt is SLOW, so no coach for me unless they don't mind getting bored :p

Come East to Boston! We have the best of the best law schools here and you can do the marathon every year! Plus I will make you cupcakes whenever you want! Yay!!

I think Billy should DEFINITELY go to Harvard Law - then you can run Boston every year, and I'll meet you in the morning for runs along the Charles (which is my favorite place to run - so beautiful and peaceful before all of the busy people crowd the streets). What do you say?

Breakfast burrito - I totally agree that the tortilla needs to be soft and warm. Fill it up with eggs, cheese, avocado, sauteed peppers and onions, and some hashbrowns (grate a potato with a cheese grater and cook on skillet). Yum!!

I have set up friends in the past and most of the time its gone really well in the beginning but then ended in a dramatic break-up, so now I don't mess around with that!

(I actually have a friend at UConn Law and it's a good choice.) coming from Utah, the weather wouldn't be a shock to the system like it would be for most people, and we could eat ice cream and skittles together while talking about running! do ittttt lol

Heck, how about UCBerkeley? Great weather. Top 10 school. Incredible FOOD MECCA! Lots of great places to run... I could even point out some spots for you. I offer to run them with you... but I'd just be slowing ya down ;-)

Having a coach can really help a lot. Looks like you've hooked yourself up with a good one :) Have fun at that track!

I am laughing about your "creation"!! He is adorable!! So many cute babies around you!

I would like Billy to go to law school at the U of Idaho b/c you would be only 8 miles from me! But, I'd rather VISIT you in Cali or Hawaii, does UofH even have a law school? My alma mater Stanford would be a great choice!

SO many things I love about this post! I am about to have to scroll up and down 50 times so I can include everything.
1. DYING LAUGHING/so proud of the use to the pen to transport your peanut butter! Desperate times call for desperate measures!
2. I love your gray jacket! Where is it from?
3. Um that burrito looks delicious, I better make that for dinner tonight. Thanks for the idea. :)
4. Billy MUST go to Cambell Law School in Raleigh so we can hang out every day of our lives and go on double dates and then Billy and Jordan can be BFF's just like us. I would probably die of happiness.
Okay. This is all. :)

Agree with Kathleen above re: law school. Go to the best you can get in. Lawyers are a dime a dozen now and the only thing that differentiates you when you graduate is what school you came from. Lawyers at better schools get better jobs. And in this economy, some aren't getting any jobs. I just finished at Stanford and got top notch job offers. Also, the alumni network at better schools will be an advantage for the rest of your career.

Good luck on your running!

Jen

MMm. Breakfast burritos! My fav. Eggs, hashbrowns, turkey sausage, and some Guac! MMMMMM!

For law school I would want you to go somewhere warm. Like Arizona, then you could run outside ALL THE TIME. :)

Loved reading your interview!

I found your blog through Meet Virginia. I LOVE IT! You are so cute! We have very similar goals- I was supposed to run Boston this year but had an opportunity to study in Australia. So i'll be running it 2012- hopefully sub 3 hour!

As for law school Billy should totally go to UNC Chapel Hill- hands down it doesn't get any better than living in NC ;)

Best of luck with all of your training!! I will be rooting for you while I am down under!! :)

I used to coach dance team but no need has ever been in my life for a running coach. Do they turn turtles into hares?? :)

Your nephew=cutie patootie.

You should come to Iowa for law school. University of Iowa and Drake are both phenomenal. And close to me. Fancy that. :)

Why do I have a major craving for breakfast burritos now???

my fiance is at University of Iowa School of Law and we LOVE iowa city. it's a tier one school, has an AMAZING wellness center that you would love, and iowa city is very foodie friendly. Plus, we could be Law School Wife friends (Law school has a way of stealing your significant other into a scary black hole, but you get them back on the weekends!) Good luck to Billy, I hope he finds one that fits both of you perfectly!

Oh my gosh, come to Milwaukee, WI - Marquette University for Billy's law school! The local running community is really supportive and the land is nice and flat for training.
Then we can be BFF's and go get frozen custard all of the time!

A coach will give you such a piece of mind. I had one last year and the fact that you do not have to put together your own schedule is such a relief. Good luck with everything! You are going to rock Boston!

So, for breakfast burritos it has to be egg, bell pepper, and salsa...I'm craving those a lot lately!

I met my hubby on a blind date....sort of...eHarmony set us up!

I don't have a running coach but will so need one after baby-I think you and Billy should find a loaw school in total proximity to me and then you can coach me! Problem solved:)

That is so cool that he is coaching you - his PRs are amazing! I love track workouts, in fact, I am super sad that I'll miss mine tomorrow due to my lame bronchitis :(. I can only do sweet breakfasts, but I love the idea of breakfast burritos for dinner! I have done horribly in attempting to set people up so I am retiring with 0% accuracy and just happiness that all of my friends have now forgiven me. I don't have a personal coach but I'm in a training group and so I work with a coach, I love having an expert I can email about all my little questions and having a specific training plan to follow! And what's wrong with a pen...in a car ride you have to improvise!

I love a breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, salsa, zucchini, spinach, and a small dollop of sour cream.

My husband is finishing up at Capital University Law School in Ohio and has had a great experience. One thing we were told that Billy might want to keep in mind is that it is better to attend law school in the state you plan to live in because the school will teach to that state's bar.

You should go to SMU law school in Dallas. Of course you'll want to live in the burbs, say Allen, while you are here. And you'll love it so much you'll never want to leave. Just saying..
In all reality it's an amazing school.

I'm so glad that you found a coach. I really think it will help you to realize your dreams. What happened to the guy who was going to help you from the running store?
Law school: the only place for you is the U. That's all. Seriously. I'll feed you and send you home with leftovers. You can't move far away.
