Triple Tangent Tuesday

How Janae Spent Her Tuesday:

-Early A.M. swim.  I tried my hardest to learn how to do that cool flippy thing at the end of pool to get turned around.  Somehow even if I plugged my nose with my hand the chlorinated water seeped into my brain and I am 99% sure it burned off the few brain cells that I have remaining.

-Students were at Lagoon (Utah's amusement park), I didn't go because it was raining and cold and I am a wussy (if you recall I stick to the treadmill all winter long).  So, I started my day off by watching The Bachelorette (why are all the crazies from Utah) by myself on my projector in my classroom. The best idea I have ever had.

-Searching the world wide web for delicious dessert recipes.  I can't help the fact that beautiful, sugary pictures get me all excited.

-I guess I got some grading done.

-Finishing off my Costco 58 serving jar of peanut butter with a yogurtland spoon (I take them home with me because they are so bright and fun to eat with) and drinking chocolate milk to wash it down.

I really can't remember doing anything else.  Either I am the laziest person alive or I have lost my short term memory.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Triple Tangent Tuesday TIme: Basically I just go through old pictures that remind me of the weird/creepy/psychotic things that I do.

1.  I am the popscile queen.  If you are a long time reader and you remember my mouth surgery, than you know it is normal for me to go through a box of Creamies in a day.

DSC 4286

In Utah marathons a common post-race food are creamies and I get my $90 of race money through eating the $90 of race food afterwards.

Anyone want to have a popscicle eating contest with me? Popsciles are an answer to my prayers- portable ice cream.  I can take it anywhere I want and especially when I am riding on the back of the scooter as we explore Provo.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.  Whenever I go skiing with my girlfriends we literally spend half the day building snowman.  I wish I was kidding.  Whenever I go skiing with Billy I beg him on the ski lift over and over again to build a snowman with me but he doesn't go for it and would rather hit the trails and go 90 mph which results in tired, exhausted Janae and therefore ends up falling on the walk to the car.  I cried.  24 years old and cried over slipping and everyone laughing at me.

IMG 0064

Pre-blog and Billy still took pictures of me falling before helping me up.  The reason it works for us is because I would do the exact same thing to him.

IMG 0066

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3.  This one isn't weird or creepy but rather REALLY AWESOME!!! My mom is a stone cutter.  She is so talented and makes the most beautiful jewelry ever.  This was a purple ring that she made me for my birthday.  There is a ton of math, machinery and patience that are necessary for stone cutting, crap...I don't have any of those things!

IMG 0259

It kind of looks like the end of my thumb was cut off.

You know what would look great mom....some matching purple earings and a necklace:)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go wish CELY (REESE'S RUNNER) AND SARAH (OUAL) a HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tell me some TANGENTS ABOUT YOU!!!! I LOVE reading random things about YOU!!!!

How did you spend your Tuesday....hopefully, you were more productive than me:)

I've been at work today "working" which means catching up on blogs (since it is my Monday). Not very productive so far. And I brought my dog to work so I am also stressing about her - where is she? what is she getting into? But, right now she is nicely sleeping right by my desk. :)

That is so neat that your mom did that! And mmm I love popsicles. You know what is even easier to eat? Those ice pops. I gave my class some yesterday cuz they earned it.. and I totally ate two. Luckily they didn't catch on.

Janae, I love you, girl, and the fact that you keep the spoons from Yogurtland makes me love you even more! Where I'm from we have Menchie's and even though I'm allergic to dairy (saddest day ever), I still go with my friends and family so that I can collect all of their spoons to wash and reuse! And NO! I actually don't like popsicles; they are prone to breaking off/ melting and you lose part of your yummy dessert! Give me a snowcone though and that's a different story!

THANK YOU JANAE!!! I already had a cupcake but I'll have some Yogurtland later and pretend it's from you until we can have a proper frogurt date this summer, k?

tuesday? what did i do today? sad it's only 5:00 and i have to think hard to remember. i for sure made some lemon poppyseed muffins because they're sitting in from of my face right now. i'm trying not to have another one. two tangents about me; 1) i can't stand to "do" my hair and 2) i feel silly when i wear jewelry. anything besides my wedding band comes off 5 minutes after i put it on. and how about one more? 3) i own a lot of jewelry. ha!

flip turn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtP8xgzm6do&feature=related

Notice how they don't actually "turn" at all until they push off the wall. Flip over and push off on your back. Also, curl your upper lip over your nose to stop water from getting in. And flip fast!

the smell of little kids' teething rings makes me cringe. i don't know, it's something about that specific type of plastic. :P
last of all, hello otter pops!!

i made an amazingly healthy pb milkshake that you must try! you blend frozen banana (peel it before you freeze it), regular banana, milk (i use rice milk), vanilla protein powder (i use sunwarrior), peanut butter, ice, water, and xanthum gum (if you have it). i used to work in an ice cream parlor for years and this tastes just like a vanilla pb milkshake!!! pics of the beauty are on the blog :)

1. In 2001, my high school bowling team became the NYS Champions. I was a junior.

2. I competed twice in the Miss New York pageant (for Miss USA) and was a semi-finalist both times!

3. I'm tempted to say that if I took you on in an ice cream/fro yo eating contest that I would win...

Just sayin. ;)

I'm totally obsessed with PB. I find an excuse to eat it with everything!

I'm also really into gardening and working in the yard since the weather has been so amazingly warm lately!

Let's see, what else..

I'm strangely obsessed with grocery shopping. I think I might like it more than clothes shopping nowadays. Is that weird? It's so fun for me to pick out yummy goodies!

The key to a flip turn without getting water up your nose is to do some serious blowing out through your nostrils. When you're learning the easiest thing to do is: take a deep last breathe, while doing your turn act like you are trying to blow your nose (think boogers), and then take a breath again once you finished. That's how I learned and that's how I taught the young ones. It gets better with time.

Random fact: I like the feel of head massages so much that I give them to myself all the time. Having somebody else give me head massages are one of the few reason I will get married.

I do the same thing with PB. I love it. I don't get enough of it. TTT?

I love cheese.

Great blog, by the way.

Ooh gosh I had some great popsicles the other day...Edy's Whole Fruit, PINEAPPLE flavor, yum.
It had some great little pineapple chunks in it, which really made the popsicle.
I wish I had some of those cool NEON spoons, if only we had your fro yo place in Virginia!

Popsicles are amazing! Love making my own, but I like to buy coconut ones. So good!
LOVE LOVE LOVE that you watched the Bachelorette at school on the big screen. Too funny!
Hmm..tangent about me? My family had a ranch in Hawaii when I was a teen and my job was to feed the buffalo. Those guys are GIANT and it was so scary!

First things first, I love that ring. Tell your madre that your bloggers want some love, and will pay her to make a ring for them! Aka, ME! And Triple Tangent Tuesday, I love this! So here's three tangents about me:

1. I like my egg whites slightly burnt. Weird..
2. 80% of the time I pull my running clothes out of the dirty laundry
3. In high school, I ran over a dog in Driver's Ed. I wish that was a joke.

I can't believe I just admitted that to a Driver's Ed teacher.

Tangent about me: I will get randomly girly, then go super tomboy, then back to girl again. I can never stick with just one. So one week, I'm painting my nails every day and straightening my hair every morning. Then the next week, I'm sitting with a makeup-less face in my yoga pants and a baggy tee (like right now, LOL)

hahaha, that's amazing that billy takes pictures of you before helping you up. He's been a blog photog in the making for a while! lol

A tangent about me: I have managed to convince a whole lot of people that I'm really strong. Not like, I can run 20 miles strong, but like, I can pick up that 50lb box and carry it no problem, strong. It's not true, I'm not sure how I got that reputation.

Your mom is so talented!!! One of my tangents: it's a joke (okay, kind of a joke... not really though) in my house that I blame everything on the Husband. Like seriously. Even if it's my fault, I find some way to turn it around against him.

YOU always make me smile BIG! Love your pictures...especially the devilish one of you hiding behind the PB jar! Let's have a race to see who can polish one of those off first! :)

Tangent: My mom and dad work in jewelry sales and designs and they designed my wedding ring! Your mom is MUCHO talented. Please pass that on. A gift from her work must mean a million times more than a store!

I LOVE popsicles! The best ones are the vanilla ice cream in the middle with orange on the outside, I think they are called creamsicles. Not sure if you consider them popsicles but I LOVE them!

On another tangent, I didn't read all of the posts but I'm sure someone has given you tips on flipturns. I swam on a team for 12 years so here are a few tips. Start the turn a few feet from the wall and start doing a summersault, when you are half way through (when your feet are by the wall) push off the wall and get your body into a superman pose. Once you break the surface start swimming. To keep water from going up your nose during the turn slowly breath out your nose. After some practice I am sure you will be a pro and won't have a problem doing them, they are pretty easy.

At May 25, 2011 at 1:57 PM , Blogger Hannah said...

Don't know if anyone's told you this, but the trick to doing flip turns without choking/drowning/brain cell loss is to blow bubbles out your nose. It takes a while to get the hang of, but it makes it soooo much easier to keep your sanity while swimming!

At May 25, 2011 at 1:59 PM , Blogger RunToTheFinish said...

i love post race food, hubs finds a little box somewhere and always stocks up. it cracks me up. Oddly being in florida they don't ever have popsicles which sounds really awesome!!
