Ice Cream Cake Cupcake

Sorry team but this post may be a little shorter than my normal eight page ramble.  I was an incredibly good wife and went and cheered on B-mister at his baseballs games.  We got home at 10:47 and I am just now writing my post (I am usually in my 3rd cycle of REM by now and I WILL be waking up for early morning pump......last one before it is cancelled at my gym).

I wanted to start things off by making you drool.  A student brought in this cupcake from her sister's bakery.  This would be an ice cream cake cupcake.  The icing tasted just like mint chocolate chip ice cream but it wasn't.  It took me off guard but I ended up licking the crumbs off of my desk (I desperately wish I was kidding, and I know you are all picturing me do it as we speak), so I guess it was a winner.  I asked my student why she didn't bring this to me at the begining of the year because it would have guaranteed her an automatic A if she had.

IMG 6286

After a faculty party (those Utah valley teachers sure know how to have a good time) we went over to the parentals because these kids really can't live without me. Seriously, they can't.  Don't even question it.

IMG 6289

Steak potatoes, green beans and rolls.  If you remember from this post, my dad is on his journey to a healthier lifestyle, he has lost 19 lbs now.  This is quite a common dinner (they switch up between chicken and salads too) for them these days and I am not complaining (He skips the rolls and potatoes, my mom makes those especially for her carb loving daughters).

IMG 6294

And for dessert.....French Vanilla hot chocolate made with milk.  Billy's games were FREEZING and I needed something HOT to keep me from sneaking into the snack shack and sitting by the heater and stealing all of their Skittles during the game.

IMG 6291

Billy helped my sister upload books for her Nook.  She reads at least 2 books a week and I posted this picture for your opinion on Nooking.....(PS I hate that Barne's and Noble called their eReader a nook....just sounds iffy to me).

Do you use a kindle/nook/iPad to read?  Do you think you will?  What is your favorite genre of reading? What are you reading right now?

-I LOVE reading off of the iPad, except when I am outside it is a little harder to read but still doable.  Remember, I now have three months of nothingness....book recommendations are welcomed with open arms.

Who cooked more in your home growing up....your mom or your dad?  What about now?

-Mom cooks and dad makes a killer grilled cheese, stack of pancakes and knows his way around the BBQ.  Billy is a WAY better cook (I am a better baker) but he just got me some new kitchen tools so that I can start my very own culinary arts school in my kitchen:)  Expect a lot of good recipes people!

I LOVE my Kindle! I love that it's not backlit, so my eyes never get tired. I was skeptical at first, but now I couldn't live without it. It makes getting books on a whim so easy! I have many running, healthy living, and chicklit books waiting for me on mine!

I have a nook and I love it because I can check out books online from the library for free to read on it. The name is weird, though, you're right.

Growing up my mom cooked more, but apparently my dad taught her how to cook when they first got married. Crazy.

I'm still reading good old fashioned books. With actual pages! haha I just finished reading How Did you Get This Number by Sloane Crosley. I recommend it! Super funny!
My Mom was always the cook but, like you, my Dad makes the best grilled cheese!!! Oh and perfect hot chocolate he is a chocolate master!

I JUSt got a Kindle for my birthday this past weekend and I'm just now getting used to it. I love that I can read it easily outdoors, I just have a problem deciding what to read! I think my problem now will be that it's TOO EASY to buy a book. Goodbye paychecks!

I'm looking for some recommendations too, so please post what you're reading!

Yep......I reckon your student should have presented that cupcake to you right at the beginning - As all round!! :-) I put the kindle app on my iPhone and read free stuff (Like Pride and Prejudice) while at the gym :-)

I adore books, and was very surprised to find that I like the kindle.

I just read an incredible book--The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter & Sweet. I would definitely suggest it.

Boo to bodypump being cancelled.

Holy cow that cupcake looks phenomenal!

I love non-fiction. I usually "read" cookbooks and health or lifestyle books. I just finished "Crazy Sexy DIet" by Kris Carr, a MUST READ for anyone interested in their health and well-being!

My mom was definitely the cook of the house. Once I went to college and got into cooking, I am now the cook of the house! I menu plan our holiday meals, my mom loves it though, it gives her a nice break! :)

ooo I love to read...when I have the time. Last year I was unemployed so I read a lot. I have a ton of recommendations. The Hunger Games, it's a quick easy read, it's a series and they are filming the movie now. I love to read a book and then see the movie. THe girl with the dragon tattoo series is good but the first book took me a while to get into, lots of characters to introduce.
Graceling is another good book that I read and there is a second book that goes with it but I can't remember the name right now.
Right now I am reading the Eragon series, someone gave me the books but I am really not that into them I am just reading them just because.
Seriously, read the Hunger Games if you have not already.
Oh and I don't have a kindle or nook or whatever. Hoping to get an Ipad soon and read off that. I do download books to by laptop to read at work (hope my boss never sees that lol)

I am in love with my Kindle. If I could read 24/7 I would. The kindle makes it so easy, and as long as I have WiFi I am never far away from new books. Plus, you can't beat all of the space it's saving me now that I'm not buying books and filling the house with them.

Growing up my mom always cooked. I don't think my dad really could beyond pancakes.

I have a Kindle. It was seriously the best present I've ever gotten and I'm literally attached to the thing. I carry it everywhere just in case I have a few minutes to read. I love that your sis is a super reader too! I also like that I can read the Kindle anywhere without hurting my eyeballs, I'm super blind as it is.

Currently reading The Historian, and finished a bunch of books like The Life of Pi, The Pre-nup, The Help, Little Bee, and the Hangmans Daughter! All great reads!

My mama was the cook growing up. She's still the cook now! Win for me!

Oh my goodness, that cupcakes looks to die for!

My dad does ALL the cooking in my house:). My mom has a few signature dishes, but otherwise my dad does all the cooking and grocery shopping:). My mom is a teacher and gets home earlier than him, so she often mows the lawn! I love it:).

I like the idea of reading on an iPad/Pod/Nook Book/etc, but then I get sad because I don't have the hard copy of the boo:(.

PS, speaking of books, I am giving away a copy of Dean Karnazes' new book! You should come enter!!:)

For some reason I just can't get into the Kindle, must be the teacher in me but I just like to read straight from the source. I love cheezy romantic novels and my fav author is Kristen Hannah. Right now I am reading a book by Lauren Conrad.
Dinner wise my Mom always cooked the potatoes and side dishes while my Dad dealt with the meat. Kinda the same now when it comes to Craig and I, he always grills and I make the side dishes.

I have a book rec for you! I just finished The Perfect Mile, by Neal Bascombe which is the story of the 3 20-something men in the 1950s who were trying to break the 4-minute mile for the first time in history -- Roger Bannister (British), John Landy (Australian), and Wes Santee (American). I was SO inspired by how insanely hard they worked and how intense their hunger was to achieve their goals. They taught their bodies to withstand extreme amounts of pain and exertion. The book took me a little longer because I tend to read non-fiction slower, but I really loved it and am so glad to know this important part of running history now! If you read it, make sure you get on YouTube and watch Bannister run the 4-minute mile at the Iffley Road Track in Oxford when you're done. It's magical to get to watch him after reading so much about him. :)

I think my favorite books I've read in the past year were The Hunger Games and Shades of Grey (Jasper FForde). Bossypants by Tina Fey is hilarious so far. As for running books, I loved Bart Yasso's book and what I've read of Ultramarathon Man (Dean Karnazes) has been good. I know Water for Elephants has been really popular because of the movie and I loved it (and her second book Ape House was good). I could probably come up with a 50 book list if you gave me some time and room. Maybe I'll try to do a blog post on books soon. I love books, can you tell?
