i could live off of breadsticks

Date night started off with a romantic trip to Costco.  I only spent $9.88, if you don't believe me I will email you the picture of the cash register.  I did take a picture of it, it was a once in a lifetime experience.

IMG_3689.JPG

Scooted across the parking lot to use my Christmas gift card at Nordstroms.  My heaven.  I bought my favorite make-up items.  I am a cheapskate with everything else but make-up is something I would sell all of my jeans, shoes (not work-out shoes) and jewelry to buy.  I love me some Mac and Clinique.

IMG_3691.JPG

We decided to go to a movie before dinner.  I kind of freaked out a little bit because what happened if I got hungry in the movie.  That would be the end of the world and there is no way I was going to pay $4 for a little bag of skittles at the theater.  I then remembered I ALWAYS have food stashed in my car.

This is what we collected in my back seat and snuck into the theater.  We only had a few cheezits during the movie but it is all about security......just in case I get hungry:)

IMG_3693.JPG

We saw the movie RED at the dollar theater (tickets actually cost 1.25......they lie to us) and it was amazing.  You probably all saw it in the real theater so I am a little behind but seriously it was the perfect mixture of action, comedy and love......plus I LOVE Morgan Freeman.

IMG_3698.JPG

We then trecked over to the Olive Garden to use a gift card from the in-laws (THANK YOU)!!! It was delicious.  I got the five cheese baked ziti and I think I finally fulfilled my cheese needs for the week.

IMG_3697.JPG

Date night was a success.

P.S. I hope I didn't disappoint you by saying I got all dolled up.....in my vocab that means curl your hair and put on something other than your nike tempo shorts.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you keep food in your car or purse for emergency situations like having a late dinner?

-Boy scout motto.....be prepared.  I don't like my stomach grumbling.

Do you like Olive Garden?

-Their breadsticks make me melt.

What is something you are willing to pay big bucks for?

-Make-up and produce and ice-cream sundae's.

I'm always really excited when my bill is less than $20 at Costco!

I will definitely splurge on make-up. What kind do you use/any recommendations?

I *always* bring granola bars, fruit, trail mix, or something to snack on if I know I'm going to be away from home more than 2 hours.

I love olive garden, and thankfully there's one across the street from the hospital!!

I try not to purposely keep food in my car, but with three kids, sometimes it happens against my will.

Haha I'm the same! Dolled up just means no workout clothes! :P

I honestly NEVER leave the house without food on me. My stomach likes to be satisfied. My purse is actually just a food carrier! :P

Btw you two make a gorgeous couple. Serious model material there!

You two are serioulsy too cute!

The only food I usually have on me is clif or luna bars but I always take healthy snack food to work so I don't go to the vending machines.
I heart Olive Garden breadsticks and salad! Remeinds me I have a giftcard from there I need to use. That baked ziti looks delish!
Makeup or skin care products are definatly things I will spend big bucks on. But that's why I ask for gift cards :)
I would say my hair is another thing I would spend money on to take care of.. speaking of I need a haircut stat!

doesn't Nordstrom SMELL SO GOOD? I want my house to smell like Nordstrom. (I'm surprised it doesn't, with as much shopping as I do there...)

ha... I am the same way with food... I always have to take food - generally some kind of bar, a bag of cashews, an apple... I'm sure I can go right now and look in any handbag, there's an emergency bar in there...

it's funny, I don't even WEAR very much makeup day to day, but I LOVE it. make up and skincare products... I spend way to much ... um, time, at Sephora. :D

At January 16, 2011 at 10:48 AM , Blogger Katy said...

I will also spend big bucks on produce. :) Yummy. I like to buy expensive, fancy foundation and stuff, but for eye makeup and whatnot, it's usually Wal-mart or Target. Lol. I like a HUGE variety of colors, and that's just too expensive for Mac.

Your pictures are, as always, ADORABLE.

I guess I would say produce too. I buy organics and those are more costly. I dont mind shelling out the monies for it though!

And body products (shampoo, etc)

Of course I keep food in my car.. I blame it on having 3 kids and they might get hungry but Im usually the one eating it. Woops!

Hey! Okay so I have some questions about how you use the beta alanine. Do you take it every day? Before or after running? And how long did it take for the tingling to go away?!

My friends call my purse the mom-bag because it always has snacks in it. Not to mention I have snacks to satisfy all cravings too, sweet, salty, crunchy, chewy.

Splurge: food, specifically produce. Airline tickets (fly non-stop, or best departure times etc) haircut (love the salon I go to, but $$)

I drive a truck. The center console is stashed with candy for those such emergencies. I am just remembering by those photos that I have Hot Tamales in there.....almost forgot about that. We sneak food in everywhere. Hockey games, church, band concerts.....

Glad you had a great date night! Olive Garden breadsticks...YUMM!

I'm pretty much a bargain shopper with most things but yes make-up to cover my careless years of basking in the sun is a splurge. I can't cut corners with jeans either. I've tried, they end up in the Salvation Army pile. If I spend the money, I wear them and I feel good about myself IN them. Worth it:)

My emergency stashes usually consist of 100 cal packs of almonds or walnuts, and a special K protein bar. I had a serious issue when I was student teaching, because all of my go-to snacks are nuts or nut based (proteeeeein), but I couldn't have nuts in the classroom because of allergies! So I had to find a good snack that had no nuts in it. In comes the Special K protein bar. It tastes like a freaking rice krispies treat with strawberries in it - delish.

Olive Garden is great for two things: breadsticks and minestrone soup. The rest of their stuff I'll generally pass on. And as far as the big bucks go, I'm not willing to go cheap on food. Jake goes for a lot of store brands and things and non-organic, and it's one of my areas where I'm totally OCD. Organic produce unless it's really unavoidable, and I like my name brands! I can't help it!

I FOUND a wedding dress!! You can see pics of it here: http://shootingduck.blogspot.com/2011/01/success.html

And I thought of you on the treadmill yesterday - I realized that I dance while running and thought of your spinning class post. Am I alone in doing this? Or do you do it too?

I must be REALLY behind because I don't think I've ever even heard of RED. I'm still waiting for Harry Potter to hit the cheap theater so I can see it for $3.

I actually tend to not go anywhere with food (unless I'm going to work early, or leaving before eating breakfast) because I know I'll eat it when I'm not hungry.

LOVE Olive Garden bread sticks and salad! Even though it's just iceberg with red onions, croutons, and those delicious peppers. Their dressing is the best.

And I'm trying to think of something I'll spend the big bucks on. And nothing is really coming to mind. I bargain shop as much as I can.

I love Hot Tamales. I don't eat them enough. I am inspired. :)

When at the Olive Garden I always fill up on the breadsticks and take my dinner home with me.

That is absolutely hysterical that you had all of that stashed in your car. No, I don't keep emergency food, but I'm sure if I dug under my seats I could find a french fry or two.

I love Olive Garden. Their bread sticks are pretty good, but I swear I eat nearly the entire big bowl of salad every time we go.

I'm cheap on everything but food. I just paid $4.22 for a dozen Egglands Best organic eggs when the $0.88 store brand was right beside it. I will pay extra for the good food. And that includes my animals. Only holistic/organic for them too.

I do not like Olive Garden. Use to be my favorite. I LOVE their breadsticks and like their salad. That's about where it ends. Their food is nasty I think and I heard it's all just processed frozen food they throw in to heat up.

I will spend big bucks on... Nike jackets, shoes, and pants.

I'll spend money on pricey produce as well! I use Clinique face makeup but buy drugstore mascara and lip gloss.

I hope you are having a great day!

I LOVE the Olive Garden. It is soooo delicious. I don't go there enough.

I would pay the big bucks for jeans. I only have 1 pair usually at a time that fits, and I get seven for all mankinds because it fits perfectly. I wear them till they're in shreds, then buy a new pair. Recently I've lost weight, but I don't want to buy a new pair till I've lost some more so I just wash it every time I wear them to shrink them back up. haha

Ahem, yes. I almost always have food with me because in the UK vegan options are really limited, and I am even crankier than usual when I'm hungry.

In terms of my mileage, you're so sweet to say that you're impressed by it but honestly I'd rather have your balance when it comes to working out. You train like a demon, but also know when to rest. I just overwork my body, overtrain and juggle six injuries at once. Plus, because I never really rest I don't think I do myself justice half the time in races: one of the many reasons you're so much faster than I am is because you have that balance. Of course, you're naturally far more talented, stronger mentally and fuel yourself better too!

But I would kill for your speed, seriously. To receive a compliment from you about running left me smiling a lot :)

I am always willing to dish out the big bucks for my groceries. I never skimp and try to buy organic whenever possible. I also thoroughly enjoy eating out so I spend lots of money on that as well.

I am cheapskate with my make-up and I shouldn't be! It's so important to have good make-up. Hmm, maybe I should rethink my spending... some Mac make-up sounds really nice right about now.

I mostly have some fruit - a clementine or apple - and sometimes a baggy of almonds in my purse. Pathetic, I know. But I hate when I get hungry and have no food!!

LOVE Olive Garden. My mom took me out there for lunch the other day! Yum!

I am cheap, but I splurge on coffee - Dunkin Donuts is my fav!!! That and workout clothes...
