Runners High and Broccoli Binge

Why hello my little fitness and healthy guru's (I don't know what that word means...hopefully I put it in the right context, I am too lazy to google it.)

Time for another weirdness about me.......

I went through an entire bag (48 ounces from Costco) of broccoli in five days.

I wish I could tell you that I had someone helping me out on this but I alone completed the task.

I didn't even eat any on Saturday because we ate at my parents.  So, technically four days.

Please excuse the large amounts of sweat from spin.

I am covering my face because of the three volcanoes that have taken residence there, the forehead one (Mr. Everest) is still visible though.

IMG_3631.jpg

Tonights dinner was brought to you by throwing into the crockpot every ingredient in the fridge and telling Billy it is a family secret recipe so that he thinks you are a good wife and spend time and effort into making him a home cooked meal.

We got some chicken, potatoes, carrots, salsa and taco seasoning.  Left on high for 4.5 hours.  Broc and clementines (my latest addiction) on the side.

IMG_3632.JPG

The Spin-Playlist:  FYI I plug my ipod up to the speakers....I don't make a new CD every time.  I also speed up and edit the songs using Garage Band on my Mac.

1. Hot 'n Cold by Katy Pery

2. Hey Baby by Pitbull

3. Double Vision by 3OH!

4. Yeah X3 by Chris Brown

5. Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa

6. Coming Home by Diddy

7. Shake It by Metro Station

8. More by Usher

9. Radar by BRITNEY SPEARS

10. Firework by Katy Pery

11. Whip My Hair by Willow (don't judge please)

12 What's My Name by Rhiana

13. Bawiditcha by Kidd Rock

14. Beloved Wife by Natalie Merchant (cooldown)

Before spin I was feeling really tired and completely unmotivated to teach.  So.....instead of waiting to go until the last minute I decided I would go a few minutes early and run a mile before to get my spirits up even though I already ran in the morning.

It worked and i felt that Runners High from just one mile.  I am telling you:

Exercise gives you energy.......to be continueed in my next post muhahahah.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you experience Runners High with short distances?  Every Run? How often do you feel the high from running (or any fitness activity you do)

-I feel like 98.43% of my runs I feel some sort of high....sometimes ginormous, sometimes just itty bitty.  Either way, I have never regretted a run.

Do you have a fruit or veggie that you BINGE on?

-Broccoli and pears......I need to attend group therapy on this one. My skin is slowly turning green and florets are popping up on my face.

I love broccoli - I had a whole crown all to myself the other night. Luckily the husband wasn't home if you know what I mean...

I always just look at the Husband like he is ignorant if he doesn't know what we're eating - "what do you mean you don't know what THIS is? You've never had THIS before? Geeeez" when in reality, I have no idea what he's eating either.

There are many, many time where I have to drag myself out the door for a run but, like you, I have NEVER regretted any of those runs and I ALWAYS feel tons better after I sweat a little :) And I could eat cherry/grape tomatoes ALL DAY LONG. I love popping those little suckers in my mouth, they are so yummy :)

I had broccoli for dinner last night and I brought the leftovers for lunch! I think even a short run can make me happy. This morning I did 2 miles before I did some hard core weight lifting and it felt really good!

Usually it's the longer distances that give me a high. It's glorious.

I binge on all kinds of fruits, not so much veggies. I eat a TON of fruit everyday (bananas, clementines, apples). LOVE IT.

I posted today about the bake sale! Can't wait to see who else signs up!!

I also have a broccoli problem. Bud will eat it quite a bit, then tell me we need to eat a different veggie. I love it roasted with garlic powder, S&P, olive oil, and a bit of parmesan cheese on top when it comes out of the oven. I could eat heaps of it (and I have).

I also love to eat bowls of frozen blueberries.

running ALWAYS puts me in a better mood!

When it comes to fruit veggie/binge, its bad: I eat 4 lbs of spinach in 6 days by myself! I also go through pears pretty quickly, one a day and if you leave me alone with grapes, they will be gone within the hour!

Favorite fruit: grapes, apples and bananas
veggies: broccoli, spinach, bell peppers, and squash of any type.
Exercise ALWAYS makes me feel more energized!

I get the runner high 90% of the time. I have found running for about 10-20 before BodyPump encourages me to work harder.

Broccoli does not last long in our fridge either. Jay loves it!

I love the playlists!!! I do get a runners high, probably during one run per week which I think is pretty good!! I could seriously eat a whole watermelon but I know I shouldn't. I also love apples and bananas and have them every day. I need to broaden my horizons.

Mmm, broccoli. Definitely one of my favorite vegetables.

I feel like I do get a runner's high every time I run (unless my run was so horrid that I'm drop dead exhausted). There's nothing like finishing a run and feeling on top of the world.

I binge like crazzzzy on broccoli, brussels sprouts, green beans, artichoke hearts, and cauliflower. And sweet potatoes:) as for fruit, my face-staffers of choice are berries, pears, apples, and grapefruit. Plus melon and mangoes...and grapes. Did I mention I reaaaally like fresh produce?;)

I died at the "broccoli florets popping up on my face." That is seriously hilarious/seriously disturbing mental image.

So, I went to RPM (spin) yesterday for the first time at a new gym, and the instructor was an absolute trip. The whole time I was thinking, "Man I wish Janae was teaching this." I would have been more than happy to spin to "Whip My Hair" with you. :)

Thanks again for the spin list! You know how I love those. I sweat just like that during spin. Then I freeze afterwards!
I get runner's high mostly on long runs. But I am always glad when I go out. The shorter runs make me feel happy, just not euphoric!

I usually need to run longer and on the trails to get the runners high. Treadmills do not do it for me and rarely do I get a runners high on paved trails along side the road.

I experience some sort of runner's high on most runs. Those endorphins really do wonders for me! Yesterday I ate 4 or 5 clementines in record timing! They are so easy to peel. I have broccoli phases, too, but spinach is my big one. I'm like Popeye. And I agree, working out gives me incredible amounts of energy. It's difficult for me to fall asleep when I workout in the evening...

Um, please come be my personal Spin instructor. :) I get a small runners high almost always but mostly on the really hard or long ones. I did yesterday from my little interval hill thing. I totally want your opinion about the incline that I should have it on for interval fartlek type hills that I just wrote about. I like red and yellow bell pepper and this is also a favorite for my kids.

I have a serious problem with overeating fruit until my stomach aches. I can eat a whole huge bag of grapes in one sitting (ugh!) holy sugar overload! I can also eat half of a watermelon and an ENTIRE pineapple at once. No, I am not kidding -- and yes, it hurts the tum tum.

I used to eat steamed green beans every single day and now I can't even look at a green bean without my stomach turning. Ick.

I am addicted to raspberries red or orange peppers!! So delicious!! I think I'll go eat some now.

And runner's high, usually. I got it during my first 20 mile run and again in the OKC marathon where I could have gone forever and died running and continued running into heaven....amazing. And then I get it sometimes while on great runs outside. Hardly ever on a treadmill. Conditions much be perfect. thanks for asking.
