How Billy Proposed....

Workout:

-10 miles 1% incline 7:26 average pace.  I don't know what is with this week but running has been feeling extra good and fun.....Billy might be putting a little white powder in my broccoli or something.

-Teach spin tonight....Wahoo.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are coming up on our two year anniversary since Billy made the best decision he has ever made, to spend his life with a crazy, add, ocd, hormonal, dramatic weirdo.

I know this is a running/food blog but whatever I am feeling mushy/gushy right now and I want to share with you the best thing that has ever happened to me.....knowing I get to be with this boy forever.ever.

First, let's back up.  We met in the church parking lot and the first time I saw him I told my roommate, "I will make-out with him." Pure infatuation.

He asked for my phone number on facebook two days later and we were together every single day after that.

n17825363_33969663_94.jpg

Our first picture ever together.   I pretty much knew I wanted to marry him after a few dates ha crazy estrogen getting all sentimental on me.  My family fell in love with Billy the first time they met him.  My brother and him were best friends at the beginning and my parents loved him so much they made sure he came on all of our family vacations.  (Eastern Caribbean Cruise photo below).

IMG_1279.JPG

Fast forward to the proposal a year and a half later.

-Billy told me that he was going to Cali to look at diamonds:) I was so excited but super bummed he was leaving for a whole weekend....fyi I am a VERY dependent person.

He showed me the plane ticket, itinerary and even invited me to go but I had work Saturday night as a waitress, so I couldn't go with him.  He 'left' to Cali and called to tell me he landed a few hours later with 'sounds of the airport' from youtube playing in the background.  His parents even called telling me they missed me and that they were on the way to go pick him up at the airport.  I was CONVINCED Billy was in California.

My roommate (now sis-in-law, she married my brother) told me she wanted to lift my spirits by taking me to Salt Lake City (30 minutes North) to go try on wedding dresses.  She told me that afterwards we would be going to a fancy restaurant that her friend worked at and she was going to hook us up.

I went to the gym after school and came home late, didn't shower (why would I? Billy was 2,000 miles away), threw on a dress and heals and left with Jamie.  She made me put on a dress because it was a fancy restaurant....I just wanted to wear sweats.

We had a blast trying on dresses but I thought the proposal was still a ways off so I didn't really think much of it.

After that she drove me up the canyon to a restaurant called 'Log Haven.'

-Seriously, this restaurant was so fancy and gorgeous.  It is a ginormous steak/seafood lodge looking thing that fancy people eat at.  The valet took our car and knew our names.  I was confused.  Then the host greeted us and started taking us right away to our table......

Jamie (roomie and now sis-in-law) said she had to go potty and left me.....confused again.

The host took me outside to the back in the middle of winter.....confused even more.

Billy was standing there in front of a ginormous waterfall in a suit with roses.

I freaked out and kept saying, 'but you are in cali?!?!'

He proposed and it was perfect.

n17816157_37137554_2397626.jpg

Don't mind the grown out nails. This reminded me of the days that I had money to get my nails did....someday:)

n17816157_37137551_1912268.jpg

Thanks for reading about my life.  I feel like you are my new best friends so I have to share absolutely everything with you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are married please tell me about the proposal.....I WANT TO KNOW!!!  If you aren't married tell me about your dream proposal or what you want your ring to look like!!!

What is your favorite flower?

Are you having an awesome running week too? Do you have good weeks and bad weeks of running?

Great proposal story. My husband proposed to me on the beach at the Outer Banks (we go every year). He was in a terrible mood on the trip down but I now know it was his nerves?!? I never thought we'd get married - that's just the way we are so when we went out for the walk on the beach that night, I had no idea, perfect!

I'm having a crappy running week. Every run this week has been painful :( But, i'm pushing through them, and I know next week will be better!

I'm married, but no proposal. I needed health insurance, and we decided to go to city hall and get married so I can be on my husband's health insurance. Didn't tell anyone, didn't invite anyone. We're so romantic :)

How wonderful! I love the "sounds of the airport"!

Shane proposed to me in front of the Princess castle at Disney World. It was June, and midday, and he was nervous, so he kept procrastinating. I was getting sooooooo annoyed at standing in the heat, so he could "look at the castle", that I just got mad at him. Little did I know.... He proposed, and I was speechless. (It takes a lot!) I didn't even say yes at first, I was so shocked.

Then I came to my senses and said yes, and I was crying, and he was crying, and it was wonderful. Then my best friend got us Disney buttons that said "Just Engaged" on them. :)

My favorite flower changes all the time, but I LOVE purple tulips. :)

Is it really possible that I might be the first to comment (of hundreds?)? Yes, I stalk my Google Reader. :)

So our story is not romantic like yours.... we don't call it a love story, we call it a God story.

I moved to the town where I teach in the Summer of 2001. Labor Day, the day before I started teaching, I hung out with one of my new friends from the area. She "happened" to know a guy that was the youth pastor for a local church that just "happened" to need someone to lead worship.

Leading worship/music and all that are... um... completely my thing. For real.

So it seemed completely natural that the three of us hang out that day. We went shopping to Linens N Things and Walmart. Wow. I knew THAT DAY that I was going to marry him. Talk about crazy! It was amazing.
I figured that I was going to know for a while, and that I would have to be patient until the poor guy figured it out. Lucky for both of us he figured it out the next day. :)

We got married 10 months later, in July of 2002. It was fabulous and wonderful.

Sometimes I wish that we had a romantic story.... but you know what? It was for a very good and specific purpose that things happened the way that they did. And I am OH SO GRATEFUL. :)

Jason proposed to me in the bunkroom of our Fire department. We were both firefighter/emt's for the same house, and worked on the same crew. We became bestest of friends. Many, many nights were spent laying awake in our bunks and talking the night away. A lot of times it was like summer camp in the bunk room. Even though we are grown adults, firefighters can be, um, rather kid-like. hehehe. We started dating, moved in together and then one night when the bunk room was all quiet, Jason says to me that well, since it all started here, perhaps we should make it official here. Will you marry me babygirl?? I melted. Said yes. Cried. And hopped into his bunk and smothered him in kisses.

Aww how perfectly sweet!! You got yourself a winner! I love how you didn't shower. That would totally be me!!

Not married or dating, but my proposal would be something very "us". (*Note - there is currently not an US seeing as how I am single*) Maybe something sports related since I am a sports freak, I would be totally okay with a Halftime proposal at a football game or during the 7th inning stretch at baseball. Really, just something simple but meaningful!!

Matt proposed while we were exploring NYC, at the Imagine Memorial in Central Park. That is also where we went on our first date :D

Last week was a great running week, this week is kinda ehhh. I guess that treadmill 5k took a lot out of me.

Love the restaurant pic of you two, you look like Katie Cassidy !

eeeeeeeeee LOVE it!

Chris and I went to Lake Tahoe for the week after we graduated college and decided we were going to get married that weekend. We picked out a ring, went dress shopping, looked at places, called our parents. Some things didn't work out but we decided to get engaged anyways! So before going to dinner while we were in Tahoe we picked up the ring and Chris asked me next to the lake :) A year and a day later we got married in Tahoe since we got engaged there!

What a great proposal.

My (now) husband knew I loved Christmas so so so much. Last Christmas we had the whole family together, which doesn't happen very often. There were 13 of us opening presents Christmas morning. He kept waiting until everyone was in the room, which just wasn't happening, with so many people. Finally, finally, everyone was in the same room at one time. I have no idea what is going on, or that anything is going on, so I announce I'm hungry, and wander into the kitchen, foiling his plan. So, he follows me into the kitchen, sits down, tells me to sit down with him, and ask me how my Christmas was. I told him it was awesome, because it was. He asked if I got everything I wanted. I admitted that I totally did. Then he pulled out the ring box, as I was sitting on his lap, and asked me to marry him. We had this amazing, perfect, just us moment, then I gushed about it to the whole family for the rest of the weekend.

Awww! My husband and I had our wedding reception at Log Haven so I just had to respond, even though I'm normally pretty quiet. :)

My husband proposed to me on the floor of my apartment while we were playing with/packing up our Legos. He hid the ring in a "box" made of Legos that he insisted I take apart. It's goofy and silly but totally us.

I love reading your blog. :) It's fun to read the blog of a fellow Utahn, even if I live in IN now. :)

You are so cute! I love reading your blog - I totally feel like we are friends even though I have never met you...thanks 21st century!

My husband meant to propose while riding horseback (he grew up on a ranch in wyoming) but it was lightning and I guess you can't take horses out then? who knew? So we took his dad's old truck and parked at this beautiful place that overlooked all their land. It was likely raining and the windows were open - it was beautiful. Then he proposed and I said yes - then he pulled out the ring and I hit him! Yes hit him....back story now - we talked about marriage, set up a date, but I didn't have a ring so it didn't feel real. I told him I wouldn't kiss him until he got me a ring....(like that would happen) - we went up to his parents for the weekend and he told me he couldn't get the ring before we left out of town. I was so bummed. - so when he pulled out the ring - I just had to hit him for lying to me. But it was perfect!

Thanks for sharing your story - I love hearing stories and Billy totally wins proposal of the year (or two years ago) - LOL

Congrats! That's a great proposal and a fun story you'll get to keep telling for a long time. My husband proposed at night on the beach in a stealthy mission of secrecy - "he had to run an errand" (to the beach at 10 p.m.) Go figure. But it was perfect to our story and such a favorite memory.

Well, I've been waiting for 8 years for Bud to propose, and I have told him that:

I do not want to be proposed to in front of family
I do not want to be proposed to while on a jumbo-tron at a sports event
I wlll say yes, so he can relax already and propose! Geez
I will probably pass out with the shock of it and he'll have to do it twice.

LOVE this! What a precious story! That Billy is so tricky. My Billy is pretty tricky, too. He alluded to the fact that he was going to propose in NYC and pretended to be planning a trip there last summer. We went to Napa/San Fran/road trip to L.A. last May and he proposed on a sunrise hot air balloon ride! It was the best day ever!

I've had a great running week. Hoping it stays that way - I start training for my 2nd half marathon very soon!

Love your proposal story!

My husband proposed in the middle of the jewelry store - no joke! We were "looking" at rings because we had talked about getting married but he was in the middle of his master's degree so I knew it would probably be at least another 6 months before anything actually happened. I found one that I loved and said, "I want one just like that!" and then he said to the saleslady, "OK, we'll take it!" I looked at him like he was a crazy person and he looked kind of scared (I don't think he was planning to buy a ring that day!) and then said, "Well, I guess we're getting married!" Two weeks later he "offically" proposed on the beach after asking my dad for permission. When he got down on one knee on the beach, I said, "Seriously? Haven't we already done this?" I'm such a romantic :)

I love proposal stories!

Those are BEAUTIFUL pictures!! Your ring is stellar too! Great taste Billy! And, you are a phenom with your running! Seriously! I don't know how much that means coming from me, but I'm sure others would agree.

How he asked:
Spencer surprised me while I was still coaching softball for Creighton Univ. We were on a spring trip in AZ, taking in a Spring training baseball game on an off day, and I hear "Coach". I turned around and there he was! We were living in different states at the time, so I thought, "Oh, a surprise trip!" Well, he had called my parents to get permission, had them helped design a ring (they do that for business) Later that night, he asked! I had no idea!

Calla Lilly! :)

Love the proposal story!! So perfect and tricky. Shane proposed on a Saturday night. We were just sitting around all day being lazy and I was getting mad that he had nothing planned for us to do. I knew the proposal was coming and was getting very anxious. Finally, he was like lets go to dinner. So we were both in our sweats at this point. He said he would run home to change and then come get me. 10 minutes later there was a knock on the door and my roommate delivered me a note. It was a poem telling me to get dressed up cause we were going out. I knew at this point that it was coming. He picked me up and we went to Olive Garden, at the time it was my favorite. When we got to our table there was a big round box on it. I was freaking out because he knew I did not want to be proposed to in front of a bunch of people at a restaurant. We sat down and he acted all casual. Said nothing about the box. I could not even enjoy dinner because that box was haunting me. Finally, he told me to open it. He never moved to get on his knee so I figured I was good. I opened the box and there was another poem leading us to our next spot and a necklace. So I could breath again. Oh, two weeks earlier on Valentines Day he had set me up like he was going to propose to trick me again because I had said I did not want to be proposed to on that day. Little punk. So he made me close my eyes and he drove somewhere. When I opened my eyes we were at the spot by the river where I had told him I loved him for the first time. He pulled out a blanket and some slips of paper and we sat down. On our first date after his mission we played the "remember when" game. I made him write down funny memories and we shared them that night. So he had brought paper and told me to write three "remember when" things and he did the same. He made us stand up to read them and I went first. He then read his and then the last one he read said, "remember when I asked you to marry me?" Got on his knee, pulled out the diamond, and the rest is history!!

It was a great night!

Oh, and my running week in non-existent! :)

Lovely story! You guys are too cute! I can only hope that someday (soonish) my boy will do something that precious.

For our first anniversary together, he took me on my first plane ride...ever. And we got to tour Pittsburgh from the sky and I even got to fly the plane. I can only hope that he will pull something great and really personal like that off again.

I admit that I have been "browsing" rings online and I'm pretty sure I'd like a round cut diamond. Something a little different and something definitely significantly sized. I told him that when he goes to look for a ring (because he won't really let me have any input in that surprise) that I should get a decently awesome sized ring because I'm an awesome girl! :)

I'm definitely looking forward to that day.

My husband said that Billy is making other men look bad and making him feel bad. My proposal story is nothing elaborate. He proposed in his pajamas on Christmas morning. Ten years later he kind of made up for it by planning a nice trip to Disney World (3 months ago) and gave me the gorgeous diamond anniversary ring he had promised on our 10th anniversary. He gave me the ring while we were at a romantic Italian dinner, and after dinner we watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from a private cruise boat that had been decorated with balloons and Happy Anniversary signs.

Awww that is so cute! You two are perfect for each other!

I have known Brian for over 5 years but we didn't start dating until about 3 years ago. We pretty much knew we were going to get married once we started dating - ok well maybe Brian talked me into it! lol. Anyway, all last spring I was like thinking about weddings and stuff and I kept bugging Brian about getting me a ring. Every weekend I hoped he would propose and he didn't. July 30th came, I went to my aunts with my mom, Brian went with the guys to shoot guns. Later that afternoon I went over to Brians. A coworker had totally convinced me that Brian was going to propose the next day. SO i go over to Brians and I am in my gross running clothes. He starts making me dinner and and we eat and its delicious and then I clean up and sit on the couch. Then Brian says, I have something for you. SO he brings out this scrapbook and it has pictures of us from all the years of dating. I flip through it and get to the last page where it says all this sentimental stuff and then says "I only have one question..." and on the next page it says in big letters "will you marry me?" I was so shocked! I did not even expect it! There are no pictures of that day because I looked horrible! He did such a good job surprising me!

We had Christmas morning with my parents. He gave me Texas Tech floor mats for my car. What? Then we had to leave to go to his family's Christmas. We stopped by his house to pick up something. He got down on one knee in the middle of his bedroom. Much better Christmas present! I had told him not to propose in front of anyone, because I knew we would both cry. 13 years later we have two amazing children.

Love it. Dave took me out to dinner at a nice restaurant and then said we were going to go home and have ice cream and watch the Olympics. He played it off so well I thought "he just dropped all that money and he didn't even propose??" On the way home he said he needed to stop at the church to pick up something - no biggie, he's the pastor, and we do that a lot. We walked in and I could hear music playing but figured it was the worship team practicing. We walked upstairs to get his thing or whatever and there were Christmas lights everywhere and then I figured it out. Four other people were on stage and they played a song that Dave wrote for me and he sang it to me and then they all left and he proposed. It's an awesome song, too - not just a little diddy. He later recorded it in the studio so I have it!

Give Billy a high five for his, too!

I love how everyone's comments are so long....mine will be too. Proposal stories are the best!!

On a whim brett and I went to look at rings (just to give him an idea of my style), a couple of hours before he was suppose to leave for the Vegas bowl. I found one i fell in love with, the manager of the store took us back to his office to look at diamonds. I was a giddy schoolgirl lookin' at the bling. But we were just looking. I knew brett wasn't ready to buy, and we hadn't even talked about a "date". It was really just to start giving him ideas:)

Anyways, I barely got him to the airport in time to leave with the team. Oops.

Come to find out the store manager called Brett up while in Vegas for the Bowl game (they are there a whole week). He somehow convinced Brett to put a down payment on the ring and then had it mailed to his house in Colorado so Brett could propose over Christmas break.

He proposed on New Year's Eve (afternoon) at the Denver Temple. I was freaked out, shocked, and amazed that Brett could pull that off. He's not good at surprises or planning. But he pulled it off:)

Thanks for reading my book.

There, he got on one knee and proposed again in the warm hotel room.

I totally have good weeks and bad weeks, more typically I'll have a bad running day and over all the rest are good. The past week its been what I would consider a bad week though. Not only is the weather horrible to run outside but my mile watch broke on my 18 mile training run and I was completely annoyed (one because it was freezing and snowing and two because I didnt know how far I had gone!!) anyways- it turned out better because I got to buy the GARMIN FORERUNNER 110w ! Wooo!

anyways- you rock!

I love this - my favorite is that he went to the extreme of playing airport sounds. :) If I ever get married, I will want a simple ring, nothing too crazy. Esp. because with all the working out I do, I'm just not the biggest jewelry girl!

I got engaged to my DH on a walk after Thanksgiving dinner with my extended family at my grandparents farm. When I returned from our 5 mile walk around the hill, it was clear everyone knew but me what was going on! It was snowing and chilly, and we were in a town of human population 10, cow population 10,000 and walking a dirt road around a mountain. Very pretty ... but did smell a tad like manure ... we'll score it a 9 out of 10, you think?

That's a fantastic proposal story! :)

I'm not (yet) married, but I'd really like to be married someday. I just can't seem to find my man. :(

I don't really care about the dress, and my ring will likely just be a band of diamonds -- nothing that stands up that I'd likely catch on something. I've never dreamed about the wedding, just the feeling of being with someone who shares my desire to spend our lives together.

What a cute post! Love the "first picture together." We have ours framed in our apartment. I always look at it and say "We were so young then...." Haha. 5 years ago.

I was proposed to in front of a wind turbine. LOL. It was more romantic than it sounds.

That is a great proposal, I know you were super surprised.
My husband and I met through a mutual friend. Like you, I knew I was going to marry him after only a week. It took him all of 4 months after we met to propose. Here's how he did it. He got off work around 10:30 that night, he called me and told me he was going home to change clothes before he came over. I said ok and I would see him when he got there. He called me not to long after and told me his gas pedal wasn't working (yes I know, weird). We finally came to the conclusion that he should stop and I would come pick him up. He stopped in a church parking lot near my house and when I showed up he had the hood up and looking perplexed about what was going on with his car. Well me knowing so much about cars (HAHA!) I say why don't we check the oil. He says I think there are some paper towels in the trunk. So I go to the trunk looking for paper towels and I find a diamond ring instead. All I could do was gasp for air and cry. I turned to him finding him down on one knee! It was the perfect proposal. We have been married 8 years in April and he is the most wonderful man ever!

flower: roses I have 150 different kind in my yard, crazy I know..see you are not alone.

Bill proposed to me in Laguna Beach. If you have never been you must go this summer very pretty there. Anyway I had moved out here to be with him a few months prior and he told me to put on nice clothes and that we would go to Laguna for a nice dinner. I did not think anything of it, I had no clue he would propose. We went on the beach and he asked me to marry him, it was just us. He was VERY nervous and so sweet. We called my parents in Canada right after I said yes! But he did surprised me big time for our fist Valentine. I was still in Quebec and he flew from California to surprise me, he had arranged with my boss for me to have a couple days off and he asked my brother who he had never met to come and get him at the airport and take him to my work and he just showed up at my work with roses on Valentine's day!

if you like Keith Urban go check this old post on my blog you will like it I think

Wowza..that is a lot of planning and coordinating!

I was sitting on the couch pouring over a check list with everything I may need while in South Korea - I left the next morning. He asking me if I wanted to "wear the ring" to SK (I'd known about the ring for about 18 months before this, I helped pick it out and got it cleaned every 6 months). I told him if I was wearing the ring to Korea he wasn't getting it back when I got home in 2 months.

Not even a little bit romantic, but rather "us".

What a perfect proposal:) Thomas asked me to go on a hike with him that we had been talking about going on for awhile. We stopped at this bridge and sat dangling our legs and talking for awhile and then when we got up to leave after we passed over the bridge (he was worried the ring would fall in the water) he said he needed to tie his shoe (so cheesy) then he looked up at me and smiled and I thought he was playing with me but then he popped out the ring and asked me to marry him :) Love that boy.

That is such a sweet and romantic proposal story! The two of you are so sweet together... can't wait to see what the janaebills will look like ;-)

Our proposal story... I did the proposing cuz I'm impatient like that. I knew what I wanted. It was the 4th of July and we were staying with friends and in their kids' bunkbeds. I presented him with his Boy Scout Eagle ring (which I found in his desk drawer) while down on one knee in the middle of a super messy kids' bedroom while he was laying in the bottom bunk.

My favorite flower is the lily-of-the-valley. I remember the first time I saw them. And smelled them.

I've only run once this week and it was a good one :)

And I am going to make that soup for my husband. It sounds like something he would LOVE!

I'm bawling right now at your post - my husband thinks I am insane! It's so beautiful the way Billy proposed - how wonderful! I'm so happy for you that you found him and that you are both so happy. And still bawling...!

My husband Michael and I worked retail together at a local hunting/camping/fishing store, and I knew I wanted to marry him when I met him (first day on the job - I told him that too, not that I'M crazy or anything), but he wouldn't officially "date" me until I was 21...I was 20 when I started working there. My 21st birthday was on August 30, but he wanted to take me out for the 4th of July b/c it has always been my favorite holiday so he did and I was ecstatic! We went to the fireworks by us and this really nice restaurant and it was a magical night.

Almost 4 years later I had a terrible day (the ceiling in my apartment caved in while I was taking a shower)and I was going to miss the fireworks with Michael b/c he was supposed to be at work, but he showed up at the apartment and I was so surprised I didn't even call maintenance about the ceiling that night! He took me back to those fireworks and proposed by getting down on one knee in front of me during the finale. Him and the fireworks...it was amazing. I was never so happy in all my life. It was beautiful. We laugh about it to this day because he says my eyes were going back between the ring and the fireworks and him and it looked like my head was going to explode! I remember being totally overwhelmed and not knowing what to think. I was just crying and hugging him and saying yes and "I love fireworks, I love you" over and over again.

We go to those fireworks every year now. And sit in the same place. It's one of the best memories I have of our relationship together!

Still bawling by the way.....and another craptastic running week for me, I think I am in a rut!

Awe... how sweet! That is so cool that your room mate is now your sister in law!
I am having a better running week than last so that's good.
I was proposed to up in the canyon. We had gone up there to roast a dog at his family's private property. While there he called to me to come "see something" over on a log pile. I thought it was a big nest of spiders or something and I said no thanks. But he insisted and I went over to see a ring in a box and him proposing to me. I said yes, by the way!

That was a great proposal. My Hubs proposed at our law school "prom." We went together to our first law prom and he proposed at the third. He toasted our table of friends and then toasted me while getting down on one knee.

I was completely shocked, because I had been joking around with him earlier asking if he was nervous about proposing and he said "I'd be way more nervous if I was going to do that."

I cried a bit and we dropped the ring, but it was perfect for us.

But I mentioned it and he was like, well now I can't do it bc you'd know!!! But that's OK, he now knows I want something very special :)

Nice work on the run this morning! Glad it's going so well for you! I'm backreading and actually felt really reassured after reading your treadmill post. I panic about the treadmill sometimes. Like somehow I feel like the machine is lying to me if I have a good day.... I will be hitting a stretch here soon with the weather where I will likely be on it most of the month. Anyway, thanks for the post! Made me feel more confident!

Most of my husband and my's relationship was centered around church. One day right after church, Eric was going to propose while I waited for him to finish up some church duties. But I messed that up by walking outside to wait instead. So he ended up telling me he was going to get a haircut. He did get a haircut, but he came back with roses and the ring. I was playing solitaire on the computer, and he dropped to one knee right there and asked me to be his wife. We are coming up on 8 amazing years!

After we had been dating about a year my husband proposed to me on the swingset at a playground. :) Then, he took me to the other side of the playground where mysteriously a picnic blanket and basket were set up, along with several dozen roses, stargazer lilies and daisies (second two are my favs) In the basket was a lovely bottle of champagne (shhh we had alcohol at a no-alcohol park), champagne glasses, strawberries and raspberries and bubbles to blow. Then we went to dinner at a lovely restaurant, and after that a horse drawn carriage ride through the city with a specially made cd of my favorite love songs. So unexpected and so wonderful. :) We were married 10 months later, and now, 3.5 years later, we're still disgustingly happy together :)

Aww so sweet! I was proposed to on the beach at midnight on our dating anniversary. My bf had fallen asleep and had slept all night, so I got ready for bed and at midnight, he wanted to go down to the beach. I resisted but then complied because he bribed me with maybe seeing baby sea turtles hatching. He made me run off after a baby turtle he "saw in the distance", and when I turned around he was on his knee proposing. Afterwards one firework went off. :)

So let me see if I got this right...

You went and worked out, didn't shower, then went and tried on wedding dresses??? LOL I bet they LOVED you at that boutique! "You stank it up, you buy it!"

I have been married for 3-1/2 years to my awesome husband. He is awesome, but not much of a romantic. haha I didn't really get a proposal. We started dating early in 2005, and I moved in with him in January of 2006. There were a few times when I kind of had a hunch that he MIGHT propose, but he never did. We even went to Hawaii in the summer of '06 and he didn't then! (He later told me it was during that trip that he realized beyond the shadow of a doubt that he really did want to marry me though.) So the next year, we were planning another vacation, this time to the Virgin Islands. I was looking through some web sites one night, just looking for stuff to do while we were there, and I JUST HAPPENED (innocent look) to end up on a wedding consultant's page there in the islands. He totally busted me. He caught me looking at the page. His reaction? "I wouldn't mind getting married while we are there."

LOL Yup, that was my proposal. We were officially engaged as of that night but didn't buy the rings for another couple of weeks. And we did end up getting married in the islands! It was soooooooo amazing.

I love hearing about proposals/looking through wedding pictures! I love it and could seriously do it nonstop. I'm only 19 but I can't wait to get married. I already have my ring picked out...

I love your proposal story, he's so sneaky :)

My husband was sneaky too...he took me to a nearby lake resort, we went out to dinner and then down to the pier to look at the beautiful scenery, he got on one knee and proposed to me!!! And while I thought we were just going on a fancier-than-usual date. After I said yes, we had dessert dockside and we've been married for over 12 years now :0).

My favorite flower is the traditional lily, especially white ones.

So far, I've been having a very solid training week with lots of swim-bike-run-lift!

I love this post!! My hubs and I met at the University of Alabama and even after we were gone, we would drive the hour and 15 min to go get our hair cut by the same girl. We went to dinner afterwards and John told me he wanted to go look at the new hand prints from the Captain's of last years football team, which is by Denny Chimes-which is a landmark on campus. He told me he wanted some pictures and to grab my camera. So, we went over, ( i wasn't feeling well after dinner) and I looked around and noticed that there weren't any new prints in the concrete, I was confused b/c he should know that info, and then he hugged me and told me how much he loved me and got down on one knee. :)

Aw, that is so sweet!
I always wanted a 'fancy' engagement that took a lot of time and effort (what can I say, a girl can dream, right?). I had been with my boyfriend for about three years when we finally went and looked at rings. We knew we were meant to be together after just a few months of dating, but we were in high school so we had to wait awhile. I knew it was coming at some point last spring, but I honestly thought it would be towards May. But hubby is incredibly impatient and proposed January 11th. Wanna know how? I was having a tough day and after classes he called and said he was coming to pick me up, he had a surprise. I didn't want to go because I was tired and had to go to work later. But he insisted, so I went. As soon as he drove up I saw the huge smile on his face, and I was very suspicious. He drove us to a local park (not exactly romantic with all the duck poo covering the sidewalks), but it was the place we would meet for lunch every once and a while and sometimes we would go there to work out an argument. He made me get out of the park and we fed the insane ducks, then we started walking. And I brushed up against his coat pocket and felt the ring box (he's sooo good a keeping secrets, I tell ya) so I asked if he was going to propose. He said no. We kept walking, then he did the whole pull me in close thing, and then he quoted The Office. Yeah. Really romantic. Something about wanting the ketchup fights, long nights, etc etc etc. Then he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. I thought he was kidding. So I smacked him on the head. See, I REALLY thought he was kidding. He had "fake proposed" a couple of time to tease me, and I thought he surely had to be kidding since he was quoting The Office. But no. He was for reals. I finally believed him when I saw his best friend running towards us with the video camera.
Not exactly the romantic, well-planned proposal I had always dreamed of, but now we're married and life goes on and I suppose that's all that matters.

I have to share this because I adore your blog and your sweet proposal and I guess I am feeling kind of mushy gushy right now too.... so my sweetheart proposed to me last June at the Wasatch Back finish line. Both he and I live in Oregon (I am from Utah) and I had NO idea he was even coming to the finish line. You can read the story here http://amberdegeorge.blogspot.com/2010/06/we-all-have-stories-this-is-mine.html.

Also - LOG HAVEN - L.O.V.E!! My mom's good friend owns that restaurant and we love it! What a beautiful place to have such a special memory!

I love proposal stories! Your story is GREAT! I love all the details of it!

This summer, my fiance (then BF) and I planned a super spur of the moment trip to Kauai thanks to great airfare deals and a free place to stay. I figured he didn't have time to get a ring before, so I had no expectations that it would happen on the trip. Our 3rd day there we drove up to Waimea Canyon, which has has gorgeous view. As I was fiddling with the camera, he told me to stop, and got down on one knee, and popped the question. I was so stunned I could barely function properly. Of course I said yes and we had an awesome rest of the trip!

Such a cute proposal story.

My hubs proposed to me on my 25th birthday on the beach in Maui in front of our favorite restaurant.

I posted about our proposal here: http://irunyourun.wordpress.com/2010/06/08/wedding-talk-the-proposal/

It was in Seattle, when I went there (for the first time) to meet his family.

Awww!!! I loved your proposal story! Thanks for sharing!

My hubby and I were friends for a while before we started dating. Our first date was on V-day (our mutual friend's birthday party). It wasn't long before I knew I'd marry him...it took him just a little longer. :) Just over a year later we were engaged. He's not a planner, but he went all out for our engagement! He planned a day trip to Charleston, SC (about 3 hours away). We walked on the beach, walked in beautiful downtown Charleston, had a fancy dinner at a nice restaurant (he didn't do it then so even though I was supsicious at that point I thought I was wrong). Then we went on a horse and carriage ride (still no proposal). After that I thought we were leaving but he walked me out on this dock out to the water, got down on one knew and proposed!! That's the short version of one of the best days of my life! Fast forward to 9 years later...we celebrated our 7 year year anniversary in Oct. and our amazing son will be 2 in May! I love my life!!

Thanks for listening...sorry I'm so long winded. :)

Awwww! This is so precious :) That is such a sweet way to propose: he is a very clever man.
Plus, you two are SO GORGEOUS. Jeeze. it's kind of ridiculous...

And of course, I would love to tell you my story! It was this past August (the 6th, to be precise), and I had been gone a whole week to a family reunion in Idaho. It was the longest we've been apart since we met, and on the drive home I could not WAIT to see him! I walked into my house, and noticed he had a bunch of gifts for me, and a few things around the house were wrapped. The most obvious thing being the tv stand (with the tv on it, he had the front wrapped in wrapping paper)-- he had bought me a new tv stand, and put it all together! (You know how IKEA is...) he also wrapped up the door handle to the sliding door (it was broken; he fixed it, and wrapped it cus he knows how much I LOVE presents!!) He also got me a beautiful Audrey Hepburn black and white framed picture, which he hung on the dining room wall (and yes, wrapped it!) I was so excited, but had no idea he was about to propose... I just thought he missed me a lot and wanted to get me lots of nice things, hehe. Then, he gave me a coffee table book, and as I unwrapped it, I just squealed a little and couldn't stop smiling; It was "How to Style Your Dream Wedding"... at that point he gave me 2 dozen roses and told me to open the book. Inside was a beautiful diamond ring, attached to the book page by a string of floss! (inside joke, because I love to floss... weird, I know). Then, he got down on his knee, asked me to be his wife, and (duh) I said YES!!! And he popped open a bottle of Dom Perignon :) Best. Night. Ever.
