Carmello S'mores.

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day.  By the title of today's post I think you know that my heart was filled with happiness.

After a Nordstrom trip with my sister and Billy (it is a miracle that I walked out of that place without spending a dime especially considering the white ceramic Michael Kors watch was on sale) we started on dinner.

Okay, more like they started on dinner while we.....

IMG 6374

got to work 'testing' the appetizer that I made.  Recipe to come later today, it was heavenly.  And no, it had nothing to do with the twinkies on the counter.  Those are the leftovers from the trip.

Um, it snowed here yesterday, that is why I am wearing a coat.  Luckily it warmed up in time for us to get our barbeque on.

IMG 6375

We used our water cooker (cooked for six hours) to make the steaks and then seared them on the grill.  I think I have reached my iron quota for the next 3 months.

I truly believe that homemade fries are better than restaurant ones.  We used rosemary, garlic and olive oil to season them.

Corn on the cob season deserves a holiday of its own.  It needs to be celebrated especially when cooked on the bbq.

IMG 6379

You can guess what happened next, but first my dream pillow.  Can you imagine waking up on a ginormous marshmallow pillow every morning?  Billy said it wouldn't last 4 minutes in my hands and then I would be left without a pillow but he knows deep down that I would just steal his.

IMG 6380

Oh yes we did.

IMG 6382

I think mine deserves a 10 out of 10.  It takes years of s'mores making, candy consuming and simple physics and equations to make the perfect s'more.

IMG 6383

My BIL needs some practice.

IMG 6384

Never again will I use the 'normal' size marshmallow for s'mores.  Get the ginormous ones that are as big as the graham cracker and you won't regret it.  Next up......peanut butter cup on that sucker.  Just because we are best friends I won't copyright this idea of mine so that you to can enjoy the best thing you will ever eat.

IMG 6385

Don't forget to check out TIPS FOR TUESDAY!!! The winner for the photo-shoot giveaway is announced wahoo!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any s'mores tricks/recipes for the perfect s'more?  What other things do you roast?

-At girls camp when I was a teenager, my favorite thing to roast was Starbursts.  I dare you to try it.

Soft, hard, fluffy or flat pillow?

-We have down pillows that are soft and they are almost as good to me as a marshmallow pillow.  During college I slept without a pillow because for a semester at BYU Hawaii I didn't have one and so I just got used to it.

Favorite sides at a BBQ?

-Corn on the cob, watermelon, grilled pineapple and vinegar cole-slaw....not the creamy kind.

Those smores look heavenly! We got a fire pit for our patio for Christmas. I really want to fire it up and make a million smores!

I use a big fluffy latex pillow. It's amazing. Mike likes his hard as a rock. I don't know how we ever got married.

I just died laughing. Last night I did this same thing with those giant sized marshmallows. I had never seen marshmallows that big in my life, and they blew up to the be size of someone's head when they got hot. I took pictures to share on my blog today, it was too funny and even more funny that you did this with those too!

I was vegan for 4 years until this past fall, which meant no gelatin... but now I'm not (health concerns) and I cannot WAIT to go to the lake, get a good fire going on the grill, and have smores as much as possible this summer when we are stateside! :D

Wowwww so these pictures set off emergency signals in my brain that said ROAST MARSHMALLOWS NOW!!!!

Sadly, in my little apartment, I don't have a fireplace, a barbeque, or a gas stove. But never fear, I am resourceful!!!

... so here I am at 11:56pm, toasting marshmallows over a sandalwood scented candle.

[for the record sandalwood-infused marshmallows are pretty delicious]

I have tried those big marshmallows before. I didn't love them as much. Too much mallow. I am a graham lover so that is prbly why. I have tried the reeses too and they are too sweet. I just go with 3 pieces of dark chocolate and I am all set.

I love corn on the cob with baked beans, salad and watermelon for sure!

Oh and my pillow, fluffy! My husband's flat.

Best barbeque sides are corn on the cob and watermelon--so delicious!

I actually really like hard pillow--soft ones are so weird for me.

I love smores, but after the first one, I just stick with marshmallows. I'm really just all about the sweet taste, so I end up eating half the bag of marshmallows. I'll eat them plain while I'm still cooking another one over the fire.
:)

Regular s'more + giant blog of peanut butter = the only way to go!

I also love peeps in a s'more, but those are more exciting to do as indoor s'mores in the microwave. Actually, I just loving microwaving peeps and watching them. I'll probably get cancer from having my face pressed against the microwave.

I don't think this is a trick, but I like to spread chocolate peanut butter on the graham crackers. Also, my store sells flavored marshmallows. I want to try the brown sugar and chocolate flavors!

OH. MY. GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just opened up a whole new world to me. S'more's are already my favorite - I never ever thought of putting something on them other than a Hershey! What is wrong with me!?!?!?!

I thought of you last night, actually - my MIL made Teriyaki steaks on the grill, Waldorf salad with mayonnaise (good, although I have never made it that way) and get this....roasted potatoes with LEMON JUICE AND BASIL AND MINT! HEAVEN on a potato!!

Dude, I literally sat down to dinner and said, "Janae would love this!" They just looked at me blinking. I kept eating. :) I swear I am NOT a creeper!

We had S'Mores for desert and mint iced tea too. AND Cherry Jubilee. You should have been there!!!

I am OBSESSED with MK watches! I actually have the white ceramic one and it is my absolute favourite! If it's one thing you do today, check out my post on Want vs. Need...you will see I have a severe addiction to those little timekeepers! http://www.theathletarian.com/2011/05/want-vs-need.html

I am totally a soft pillow person... If a pillow can remind you of a marshmallow, you will be sure to have sweet dreams :)

And I love corn on the bbq...and any other grilled veggies. Haven't tried pineapple yet! Sounds delicious!

Recently I made smores (in the microwave cuz I'm sorta ghetto like that!) using peanut butter and chocolate baking chips instead of just plain chocolate! YUM!!!

Holy mother of all things good and marshmallowy!! I am showing this to Coach...he thinks he teaches S'Mores 101; but you brought it to a whole new level!!

Doesn't food taste better cooked outside!!

I love smores!!! We make them with reese's cups, mini snickers, mini twix, basically any small chocolate candy! (Sorry you can't patent your idea since we already do it - hehehe.) We also roasted apples last time we went camping and they were GOOD. I cut them in half, scooped out the core and filled it with butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar, put it back together, wrapped in foil, and tossed it on the edge of the fire. Yummmm.

I use a down pillow, and I love it!

Corn on the cob (grilled), grilled pineapple, watermelon, roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes, and my dad's secret recipe hot slaw.

I bought those marshmallows this weekend for snacks the night before my friend's wedding! Everyone thought they were a joke...I ate like half the bag though. I'm a weirdo with pillows, they have to be super flat and I can only use one. I love grilled veggies so much. Sounds like you had a great Memorial day - I am SO jealous of all your time with family!

Ohhh girl, I am a s'mores connoisseur! I have tried so many goodies...
-pb cups (it IS the bomb, you need to do it, STAT)
-crunch bars
-kit kats
-hershey's cookies & cream
-homemade brownies
-a cookie bar (it was incredible)

But here are two of my favorite ways to give my s'mores a finishing touch...ROLL THEM in either,
-rice krispie treats
-Heath bar bits

TRUST ME on this one. You'll LOVE IT! :-D

Peanut butter cups are the best in smores.
Also, smear peanut butter on the graham crackers before the marshmallow/chocolate. Amazing. Even more amazing if you use Mounds bars with the peanut butter on the grahams and the marshmallow.

I'm not a big chocolate fan, but I LOVE marshmallows! I like to switch out the graham crackers and chocolate for the Keelber Fudge stripes cookies. YUM. My big bro likes to use the toasted coconut marshmallows =) p.s. I too am SO excited for corn on the cob season!!

I agree with everyone else. Peanut butter is the perfect companion to a good smore.
And I know i'm weird, but I don't like marshmallows alone.. I actually don't like them unless they're burnt to a crisp. I like to see them on fire for at least 10 seconds while everyone freaks out, haha. Too sweet without the burnt taste, I guess.
Anywayyy, glad you had such a good cookout! :))
