Time to get my bike on....

During the winter months in the Rocky Mountains I don't go outside unless it is to get to work, go to the gym, or get hot chocolate at 7-11 (they have the best mini-marshmellows this side of the Mississippi).  If you can't tell I taught United States Geography today.

When I got home from school I had a ridiculous amount of energy and nowhere to go.....I already did the above listed things that day, seriously.

I whipped out the trainer.

IMG_2452.JPG

2 episodes of 'Scrubs' later, I was feeling good and sweaty.  I have a secret crush on JD, it's okay Billy likes Eliot.

Workout:

6 A.M. spin class 60 minutes

Upper body lifting 20 Minutes (video to come this week)

I seriously ate probably 2 lbs. of vegetables, oatmeal, 3 apples and any other gram of fiber I could find.  Hopefully, that will cleanse out the butter clumps floating around in my blood stream due to large amounts of rolls, gravy, mozzarella sticks and pie.

Do you take your workouts indoors during the winter?  What are some things you do at home to get your blood pumping? (Children read this blog, be careful SUAR ha:)

-I love using my bike trainer, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, yoga and I did P-90X for a week before I quit.  When we are rich and famous you know I will have a room with a treadmill, large TV, weights and a personal trainer that comes to us 3 times a week.

-If you live in Cali or somewhere warm will you please just lie to me and tell me that you don't get to work-out in the beautiful warm sunshine.  Thanks. Bye.

It's been so cold in Orange County! I actually had to wear underarmour for the Turkey Trot. Brrr.

Does that make you feel better? :)

i rock out at jazzercise (my fav.), hit up the treadmill we stole for $75, hang out with sean t. and the insanity crew or pretend like i know what i'm doing with an exercise ball. you know..the usual.

so...question...was billy sitting on the sofa watching scrubs and taking pictures of you working up a sweat? or did you self-time it and have to jump onto the bike, clip in, and look serious? cause i'm pretty sure that i would have killed myself trying to hop on with the camera beeping...

I am on my bike trainer as a second workout almost every day. I watch Gray's Anatomy -have never watched it before and I am hooked. I still run outside, no matter how cold, snowy, stormy.

I have a treadmill that I love, especially for intervals!! But I realllyy really want an indoor trainer, have to get my bike first though. They are both at the very top of my Christmas list :D

I also do lots of bodyweight exercises at home :)

HA! I am SUCH a pansy. I run on a treadmill because I prefer not to be cold, even for the amount of time that it takes me to warm up. Nevermind that I'm CONSTANTLY hot and cursing how warm the room is when I'm on the treadmill. Who DOES that!? I mean. I'm in SoCal, and it's at WORST 50 degrees when I want to run.

PS, YES! I fell, flat on my knee, and it hurt like no other and I was angry all day. :D.

I can't handle exercising in my own home! I get distracted way too easily. Actually that's a lie. When I was in high school I *occasionally* did my Mom's Jane Fonda step aerobics tape when I was home alone... In the winter I stick to the gym in my apartment building or buy a 3 to 6 month gym pass.

Great job! I have a treadmill and elliptical in my basement and I spend plenty of time down there in when the weather turns cold. However, I do head out in the frigid weather whenI have to run a LONG run! I have a limit of miles I can mentally run on the treadmill! The farthest I have ever run on the mill is 9.

I usually brave the cold all winter long for runs and snowshoeing and skiing. I really enjoy a good run in the winter because it is cold and usually the snow is just beautiful. I often will get up in the early morning, run then get to work early so I can head out for another run before it gets dark which helps to get my miles in and I also get to run in the daylight!

Sorry Janae!!! Beautiful blue skies, 69* and a five-mile run this morning!! But don't pout...You'll be here enjoying the So. Cal. sun in three short weeks!!! I would LOVE the bike trainer...but I guess I need the bike first...I'm working on that!!!

Where is the super duper running news??? I sometimes move my workouts indoors, but I do try to run outside still when I can. I enjoy doing regular core type things like pushups, planks and some free weight stuff. I also have an exercise video in the cabinet. Perhaps I should try it sometime.

I struggle indoors, but Eastern Washington is getting SLAMMED with snow, so we are saving for a treadmill. Love interval speedwork. I guess, I could join a gym too!

Cooper gets me outside everyday though!

I do yoga a lot more and use the elliptical, but I'll venture outside to run a few times a week because I HATE the treadmill.

I drag my butt to the gym and get on the treadmill even though I HATE the darn thing... but only when I'm training for a race. Otherwise I hit up the arc trainer or go to a class. How are those Jillian Michaels DVDs? I've always wondered...

I get to the gym when it is too cold and rainy but most of the time I can usually brave the drizzle and attempt a run outside. I do Jillian inside though! :)

By the way Janae, your blog is looking awesome! I love the new tabs you added since I last noticed and the little things you've done to change it up. such great ideas.

I'm opposite of you. I'm fine in winter, but here in New Orleans every summer exercise day is a brush with death. It's often high 90's and the heat index is over 100; this summer I went running with the actual temp at 104. Someday I will die out there.

I hate working out inside, but I force myself to in the winter.

I'm going to ignore the workout question since I skipped today. BUT....I want you to know I NOTICED you didn't make the bed! You're my kind of girl :) :) :) Now, if you go make it, it will be kind of like closing the gate after the cows have all run away.

Ohhh! I used to use my mom's bike trainer but it was so damn loud. What one do you use? What one would you recommend?

Last year I toughed it out and ran outside throughout most of the winter, but only into the mid-upper 20s. While we got a lot of snow for central NJ last year, it really didn't get too too cold that often. I did join my grad school's gym for the weekly spinning classes and occasional run on the treadmill. I didn't do much in my apartment - though I did get a stability ball mid way through winter and used that a little bit.

So far I have been able to do my runs outdoors, but I do use my elliptical 2x a week as well and my neighbors have a treadmill they will let me use at anytime. Thats a good idea about a bike trainer. I got a kickin' bike in August and am DYING to use it again.

I WANT a bike trainer for Christmas!! And a maid, and an eye lift, and new boots, and.....yes, I have 3 kids so in reality I will get a new coffee mug-ha!

I'm a freak who actually loves to run in cold weather provided I can avoid the wind feeling like a potato peeler carving away at my cheeks!! Bitter cold, not so much but, over 15 degrees and I'm golden!!

So- you did a 60 minute spin class, weights and then on the trainer for another workout. You are crazy, girl! I have to say you are motivating me here a bit though. Jillian is staring at me right now on the floor next to the DVD player. I think she wants me to yell at her for 20 minutes....

Hey thanks for visiting my blog!

I used to live in Sugar House Utah before I moved to California and I have to say.. running there in the winter is tough on the lungs!! Glad to hear you have a good setup in your living room.

It has been a bit cold here (for California) like 50 degrees! I don't know it that compares to below freezing but here to trying to make you feel a bit better. =)

I admittedly pretty much NEVER work out inside...it takes A LOT to keep me inside, especially since I don't belong to a gym (and I hate the treadmill anyway...).

I've ran in below zero temps (chilly, let me tell you...), but that doesn't happen too often, and people think you're totally hard core, so I take pride in that...haha.

I definitely run on my treadmill when it's cold and dark out. We have like a 1980's tv in that room, though, so it always sounds like I'm going to blow out the speakers, go deaf, or both when I use it.

I almost never run on the treadmill, I hate it and can barely crank 2 miles out on it before I want to strangle myself or someone else.

If worse comes to worse, i'll do cross training or similate a run on the Precor Adaptive Motion machine.

Unless it's cold AND rainy (i'll do them seperate but not together), I usually stick to outdoors for running, then do cardio cross and strength at my gym. This past weekend was below freezing and surprisingly enough, it didn't feel that cold, not much wind I guess.

I will run outside in the winter, even the snow--the worst I have done is -4 on ice. But biking? No way, sister. I just ordered a trainer for my bike. Exercise from the comfort of my living room while catching up on the trash in my DVR? Yes, please!
