I am very talented

This is what I call talent.

Photo on 2011 03 25 at 08 16

Throughout my life I have eaten more pears than you can believe.  This morning's pear was perfection.  Each bite I took ended with, 'holy cow that is good.'  This is where the talent comes in.  I am able to get every last piece of flesh off the core to be enjoyed in my belly.  It takes a lot of dedication to eat every last bite but it is so worth it.  Thank you, hopefully this talent will translate into getting my gimp leg across Boston's finish line come April 18th.

My workout this morning was one hour on the gym bike (ya know the clunky bike's......500 Day's of Summer was on and I just had to watch it).  About 20 minutes into the workout I felt like I was getting a lamesauce workout and was tempted to turn up the level until I remembered I am not supposed to.

So, how did I end up leaving the gym looking like a wet dog without disobeying doc's orders.......

I added weights.  I grabbed the 12 lbs. and every other minute I would do arm work (think bicep curls, triceps extensions, overhead shoulder press etc) while sitting up straight on the saddle and  pedaling at the same time.   Dangerous to the bikers next to me....probably, but who cares when I got to be reunited with the same sweaty disaster of a person I am after a long hard run!

People were looking at me funny but they won't think its so strange when I get my sub 3 marathon and return from my injury like a champ.

I don't know if you remember my mental health post from a few weeks ago......click here to read. Taking time for my mental health is something that I am trying to do every day even though life is incredibly busy right now.

At a time in the morning that I am usually busy putting on make-up, emailing, stalking, or looking up funny jokes online.......I have decided that it is time for me to completely be by myself (oh and my pb jar, but that doesn't count).  I am loving taking 10 minutes to just sit and think without any distractions besides trying to fit my whole fist into the jar.   Try it and you will love it.

Off to go meet the SISSY at the gym to ride the bike together and swim!!! Then we are heading over to the PT office together......she is having knee issues that need to be fixed ASAP in order to get out racing again:)

-------------------------------------------------------------------

What are you doing tonight?!?!

-I asked Billy out on a date:)

Do you cut up your fruit or eat it straight up?

-Too much work to cut it and I want it NOW, not after I dice it.

Do you multi-task at the gym.

-I loved my biking and arms routine this morning!

Do you spend time everyday disconnected from everything ?!?!

-It has just been a few weeks but I am LOVING it.

Tonight I'm having dinner at home with John. Sounds like perfection to me.

And yes, I absolutely have a daily quiet time. Usually in the morning accompanied by coffee, I sit and read a devotion book by Jerry Bridges, then a couple chapters chapters in my Bible, and then I pray and/or journal for a bit. It's the best way to gain perspective for the day.

That is quite a talent with that pear. You are so inspiring with how much you are not letting your injury get you down. More power to you! :)

YES. Great question. I try to disconnect when possible. This is one of the reasons I leave all technology at home when I go out for a run.

Have a great weekend!

I eat every last bite off of everything. I yell at my husband all the time because he'll leave half the meat on buffalo wings. Crazy.

depends on the fruit.

If you're asking if I've unplugged lately uh no.

I eat my pears to the core, too! I <3 pears. Good for you with the 10 minutes of quiet time - it's so necessary for sanity. I usually cut up my fruit - I used to bite right into apples, but I prefer to cut them so I can spread peanut butter and strategically place chocolate chips onto the peanut butter. Tonight Billy and I are going out to dinner with his family - pretty excited because the restaurant is like a 4 minute walk from our new place.

Have fun with the sis! Hope your package is waiting for you when you get home.

Tonight, I have no plans! Maybe some Jillian Michaels!?

I am a cut up fruit kind of girl!

I try to spend time disconnected from everything, but I am ALWAYS with one of the dogs, at work or with the man friend :)

I always eat EVERYTHING. Everything available to me, no question.

We are leaving in .45 seconds (and of course I am stalking your blog) to go to dinner with our friends and then have small group with friends from church

Whole, unless if it is a snack at night, I dice my apples and put cinnamon on them. Weird, I know.

By multi-tasking do you mean working out, people watching, texting on the phone, and sweating profusely, then YES

Yes! I need it! Honestly, life is too busy to not feel sane!

Hahaha wait girl I love you times a mil! I do the same thing, I spend so much of my effort eating every last bite of my apples/pears/you name it, it is devoured to almost invisibility.

Slash I am on a date with my family! Aka they are paying for dinner. Love my life:)

Going to a friend from HS's for a little woman's gathering.

I cut fruit because I never eat it in one sitting. In my fridge there is usually an apple or orange and a knife......I just section off a piece every time my mouth needs a little something......maybe a little like you and skittles.

I absolutely love to multi task with weights because it is the only way I can get through 3 sets. How do I know get anxiously bored doing weights??

Time disconnected? EVERYDAY! my mental health depends on it, and my spirituality strengthened because of it.

Happy weekend!

We are officially "pear eating twins." I always eat my pears like that, somtimes even breaking the top stem from the bottom because I just eat the chunk above the seed. Ok, so I may be devouring the rind, but I'm limited with grocery money...

How about this-you come to NY and we can eat pears and make pancakes together. I am in love with pears (by far my favorite fruits) and will eat them right down to the core as well. People judge me but it cannot be wasted!

I'm picturing you on the bike while you're pumping your weights in the air - hilarious mental pic.

I love the idea of sitting with no distractions! The hardest part for me would be to not be thinking of the things that will be distracting me after the ten minutes :) haha

I don't usually dice fruit....I LOVE pears! Haven't had one in a while....now I'm craving one! :D
Glad you got in a great workout even if you didn't run!!!!

Fruit was created perfectly wonderfully the way it is, and since I have the option of NOT getting more dishes dirty, you better bet I eat fruit "as is" :) Even grapfruits, they are fun to peel and eat like an orange!

Well, not sure what you are so proud of, you are not doing anything extreme at all. There is no reason not to eat a pear with the core and seeds. I do it always, and with apples too. And I realized that I am for from the only one like this. The core and seeds have even better ingredients, plus some extra fiber.

Diz and I want to ask you and Billy on a date! lol.

I eat my pears and apples like that too. ALL the way down the core. :)

I can only eat strawberries if they are cut up! If that green stuff gets anywhere near my mouth I get grossed out :)

hey janae!! haha you're definitely talented!!! I eat every single part of the apple except for the seeds and the stem. I'm pretty sure i've eaten those at some point too. and probably the produce sticker, too. haha so gross!

I combine lunges with bicep curls and squats with shoulder presses. But not cardio with weights! That requires coordination, which I am seriously lacking lol.

you go girl!! keep to all your PT/biking/swimming and you'll back in your running shoes in no time. so proud of you! have a great night!! :)

Aw, I loved 500 days of summer & all the music! If there's a good movie on at the gym, I get so excited.
In the summer when I'm a camp counselor, I am disconnected most of the day, and it feels awesome. There's no cell service, and I only check my emails/other internet stuff for like 20 min a day during my break. It's seriously the best feeling, but I also get excited to check my phone on our weekends off.

I was wondering what the status was on your Mental discnnect--sounds like you are still committed and I think that is SUPER! And even better when PB is involved!!

I cut up apples so I can dip them in PB :)

Have a wonderful date with that handsome hubs of yours!

That's a great way to spend the morning.
I knew a trainer, by the way, who created amazing workouts involving weights in the pool (the big black round ones, not the hand weights)

He'd combine drills, laps and random dive down and get it 4 times. It looked gruesome...and endorphin producing.

Tonight we went shopping for lamps for our new apartment. Lamps eventually all start to look the same.

I'm digging your bike+weights routine. It sounds a little terrifying for the person next to you, but it sounds like a great work-out.

Hope you are having an awesome date!

you seriously devoured that pear! nice work. I slice my fruit when it's with a meal, but on the go or snacking I just go for it.

Tonight Mike and I made bean dip for dinner and watched hours of Modern Family. Now he's catching up on march madness and i'm reading blogs with bungee.

I've been reading your blog for months now and I finally got a blog of my own (it's a work in progress currently). It's about time that I tell you that I love every single post you have and you have been such an inspiration to me, especially now since I'm injured from running.
Anyway, I ate a pear today down to the core. It was too good. Pears are the only fruit I will eat until there is no more.

I always eat my apple to the core.... Sometimes I just have the stem and the seeds left... I get some weird looks though haha. Last night I had a date night with my boyfriend... pei wei, yogurtland, and tv shows!

Omg, not to be a creeper mccreeperson, but I saw that you posted about doing weights and spinning at the same time and I maayyy have copied you in my workout today! I'll give you full credit for the idea, don't worry. I'm dealing with my own injury, and luckily spinning doesn't hurt it, but no tension or standing for me either! So thanks for the lamesauce workout prevention idea. ;)

I love your 10 minutes idea. I've actually been thinking that I want to try taking 10 minutes in the morning to just relax before tackling the day. I guess what some people would call "meditating."
