I have tears in my eyes just reading ...Oh, Awesome! I have tears in my eyes just reading about your father. I went through a similar situation with my mother. Running changed her life too. She got healthy late in life, lost weight and started running with me and my sister. After a scare several years ago, running and getting healthy prolonged her life 5-6 years, at least.

This is wonderful news about your father - props to him for taking care of himself and to you for supporting him! You are a beautiful person. He is more than lucky to have you, but I am sure he knows that!

I, very sadly and unexpectedly, lost my mother three weeks ago. I'm still reeling from it and the heartbreak that she was not there to run her first 1/4, witness my sister's first 1/2 or my fist full on Sunday. It has been a long long three weeks. She died while on a 4.5 mile training run a week before her goal race. We buried her in her running shoes the Monday after Easter.

I find joy in this post and the fact that someone else can do what my mom did and will be with you for many more years to come. Thank you for sharing.

I look forward to hearing more about the journey you and your dad are on together!!!!!!!Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01382569552132982982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6441321654725706224.post-38283955596852375172011-05-18T08:10:19.495-06:002011-05-18T08:10:19.495-06:00That is so awesome about your dad! My mom has had a lot of weight related health issues and she finally got a gym membership and is paying for a personal trainer and a nutritionist to get her life back. She quit her job and spends 3 hours at the gym every day, kind of biggest loser style, slowly working her way back to a healthier body. Before she started she was told she had 42% body fat!! That's almost half of her body that was all fat. I don't know her stats now but I know that she lost 12 pounds in the first 3 weeks and has more energy now that ever. I'm so happy for my mom because I want her to be around to watch my kids grow up. She's always done so much for everyone else so I'm glad she's finally doing something for herself.Beccarigghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08152742521372953808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6441321654725706224.post-12217339883461587392011-05-17T11:49:22.650-06:002011-05-17T11:49:22.650-06:00That is freaking awesome!!!!!That is freaking awesome!!!!!Big Daddy Dieselhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07868041775049514011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6441321654725706224.post-66963573158912922302011-05-17T10:17:41.513-06:002011-05-17T10:17:41.513-06:00SO HAPPY to hear about the great changes your dad ...SO HAPPY to hear about the great changes your dad is making and how much progress he's already made in such a short time! Good for him!! Its hard to break habits that you've had your whole life, but I'm sure that he feels so much better now that he's running and eating better foods. I wish I could get my dad to run! He used to run sub-6 min miles in college but hasn't run in years. Maybe I can use your story to motivate him! :)Emily @ eat.drink.run.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17460219284292763351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6441321654725706224.post-13366853715408236522011-05-17T10:01:57.392-06:002011-05-17T10:01:57.392-06:00This is such AWESOME news!
